Aion Pre-purchase Pitch

Steam News tries to nudge us into pre-purchase of the Aion Standard Edition or Aion Collector's Edition with a reminder that pre-purchasers qualify to participate in the closed beta for the upcoming MMORPG, and the latest round of testing will be conducted over this weekend beginning at 3:00 pm EDT today.

If you want to see what it's like without preordering, there are plenty of guides online explaining how to sign up for a Chinese account with free trial, and patch the game to English.

It's probably a terms of service violation. But they don't seem to take any effort to root out or block foreign players, probably because many of them stick around and pay regular fees to keep playing. (fees that are unbelievably cheep compared to what will be charged in the west)

Yeah, but there is absolutely nothing out there right now.

I need me some games!

There is always World of Warcraft.

Deal with it, the game is the best. Took me some time to admit it but after I realized I'm basically playing the game since it got out back in the days... it kinda goes without saying.
I thought Hollywood had hit rock buttom. Then this happened.

If you're going to buy the game anyway, you might as well preorder and get to mess around with it early. Also, it's better than paying full price and finding out you don't like the game.

Just spend the $5 for preordering at Best Buy or Gamestop, register it, try it out. If you don't like it, return your preorder. You got to play the game, found out you didn't like it, and you didn't lose any money.

Never pay to test a game. You are doing them a favor by finding bugs and loading their servers...it should be free.
How will I know limits from lies if I never try?
