More F.E.A.R. 2 DLC

The F.E.A.R. 2 Reborn Interview on IGN talks with Monolith's Lucas Myers about Reborn, another upcoming DLC pack for F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin. The article is in their Xbox section, and makes no mention of a Windows version, but previous F.E.A.R. 2 DLC eventually was released for free for Windows. The pack is due on consoles in August, and will offer four new single-player maps, and word is: "For this outing, you'll get to experience the F.E.A.R. 2 story from a different perspective as you take on the role of replica soldier foxtrot 813." The interview discusses all this, revealing that new achievements and trophies will be included. Thanks VG247.

I remember everyone raved about the 'sophisticated AI' until the developer confessed in a GameSpy interview that it was just because the maps were so boxy that it seemed that you were being ambushed --yet the locations of enemies was mere coincidence. Illusion is better than fact.

The slow-down (bullet time) feature in F.E.A.R. felt like cheating. There was no challenge once you were able to exploit the 'feature'.

The original was quite hard, even with the slo-mo, especially at higher difficulty settings. The problem with FEAR 2 is they give you too much slo-mo...

Monolith patched in a harder hard mode though, and it's pretty challenging.

I thought FEAR 2 was a decent shooter but pretty forgettable overall. The AI was better in FEAR1 and the firefights were more visceral. The characters and story were far more interesting as well.

FEAR 1 is one of the best single player first person shooters I have ever played. The second one was mediocre at best. Too easy on hardest setting without even using bullet time, not scary and weapons didn't "feel" as good as in the first game. On the plus side it had nice performance on max settings and the mech part of the game made me install mechwarrior 3 and 4 again so it wasn't a total loss.

Yeah I actually enjoyed the demo for it, except the glowing enemies just ruined for me. Why the fuck do they glow in the first place? They were perfectly fine NOT glowing in the first game.
Anyway, I should shut up cause I'll keep going on about it.

There are some mods to remove certain effects, but I haven't seen any to remove the enemy glow. Of course, I wasn't looking as it never really bothered me.

The only thing I think Fear 2 lacks that Fear had is the feeling of great AI... I know it was a shell game in Fear, but it felt like you were being hunted by an intelligent squad much more than Fear 2 does.

That said I still love Fear 2, and I can't imagine an FPS fan not loving it, but that's just me.

I'm a massive fan of the original FEAR, but really didn't dig the demo for the sequel.
Personally I wasn't bothered about the original game and thought the demo for the second was alright. Certainly it was a bit casual and linear but I'll probably pick it up when there's a Steam weekend for it or when the retail price drops further. I also like that the game has been supported, with free updates for PC gamers.

Are there any mods

Not worth it. Stick with FEAR 1.

Are there any mods that disable the enemy glow in slo-mo as well as any other mods that make it play more like the original.
I dunno, it just didn't feel as satisfying to blow people apart.

Given it's a Steam game they could use the new DLC options in Steam to charge for it.

They released the multiplayer DLC for free though... who knows I guess.
