IL-2 Patch Status

There's a conversation on SimHQ that talks with 1C's Oleg Maddox and Team Daidalos' Martin Kubani about the pending version 4.09 patch for IL-2 Sturmovik. They discuss the circumstances leading to Team Daidalos taking control of patch development and the new maps and aircraft the new version will include. The article includes screenshots and videos from the new version.

As long as this is put through to the steam version too I am a happy chappy.

You can already apply the 4.09 beta patch to the Steam version, I'm running the patch on it with no problem. Just disable automatic updating for the game so your updated files don't get overwritten when Steam tries to decide that it knows best as far as what version to run.

I wouldn't find RoF's pricing model excessive for other eras, specifically post-Korea jets that are quite complex indeed. However, for a WWI crate it IS a bit much. WWII planes I can easily imagine $8 each.
But what do they have in WWI? A couple of small-caliber MGs, a tiny engine, and flight controls with MAYBE the ability to drop tiny bombs.

Nor did I, figured they were too busy with the xbox version, I must have purchased this sim at least four times over the years in its various forms, even a copy bundled with some hardware.

Oleg Maddox sure has spoiled us though, then you look at what other developers want to do with their pay for each and every new plane for their sim, specifically "Rise of Flight" WWI flight sim and their $8 per plane price tag. I can appreciate the fact that flight sims are a niche market and the developers need some form of continued revenue stream to stay in business but that seems a bit excessive.

Very cool. I had no idea this venerable old sim was still being worked on.
