WoW to be Banned in China?

Mmosite.com reports on the possibility that World of Warcraft may not be emerging from its extended hiatus in China, where the MMORPG has been offline since early this year. The oddly worded report, attributed to "a source," says that Blizzard may have run afoul of Chinese laws against an outside company operating online games in the Chinese market as part of a joint venture in partnering with NetEase for the Chinese version of WoW. Thanks Mike Martinez.

We'll see an influx of refugees seeking asylum due to inhumane treatment.

This is asinine. The Chinese are playing 100s of Asian MMOs, but an American one is banned. What a bunch of hypocrites. They'd be throwing a fit if Americans started banning all Chinese products.
It is because China demands that anything operating in their country must have servers in their country. AKA. WoW servers for Chinese realm's must physically be in China.

It's a matter of control. The Chinese government keeps a tight reign on those 100's of Asian MMO's. But it doesn't have the same level of control and censorship in WoW so they choose to ban it instead.
Don't start anything you can't finish. Preferably to component atoms.

You mean America would collapse if it banned Chinese products.

Wow! Next weeks headline: "60 million Chinese commit suicide & another 20 million continue to live in poverty based on the hopes that WoW was coming back to China"
