Get Transistor Free on the Epic Games Store

Transistor is currently free on the Epic Games Store as the latest incentive to patronize this relative newcomer to the marketplace. This is available for the next two weeks for anyone with an account, and Epic also reveals the next giveaway after this is World of Goo, which will go free on May 2nd. They offer some screenshots from Supergiant's action/RPG along with the following description:

From the creators of Hades and Bastion, Transistor is a sci-fi themed action RPG that invites you to wield an extraordinary weapon of unknown origin as you fight through a stunning futuristic city.

Transistor seamlessly integrates thoughtful strategic planning into a fast-paced action experience, melding responsive gameplay and rich atmospheric storytelling. During the course of the adventure, you will piece together the Transistor's mysteries as you pursue its former owners.

Just cause this is still the #1 popular thread, I should point out that Transistor is a good game.

Oh, not good enough?

Sorry, ummmm let's see here... oh right: "outrage, indignation, entitlement, anger, astroturfing, gaslighting, dog whistling, and alex jones."

So I participate in the thread now?

Fuck's sake ladies, you drama llamas care more about bitching about corporations than actual games. I'd say grow the fuck up, but you geriatric old farts could use a dram of jolt cola and get in touch with your inner teenager.

You are the minority, as you are in most things Cutter, and literally the companies you are throwing a tantrum over couldn't give a shit less about you since you haven't spent a single dime with them.

That's actually a decent point. If you will under no circumstances do business with Epic, as Cutter has made very clear, then you are not their customer and they won't care about you at all. If you could conceivably spend money with Epic, you are potentially their customer and if that barrier to entry is low enough they'll be interested in your opinion. If you *have* spent money on Epic, you *are* their customer and they probably give a non-zero fuck about your opinion. Not much of a fuck, maybe you know .001 fucks, but non-zero none the less.

Most people care about other peoples opinions on why or why not to buy/use a product and/or service or we wouldn't have personal reviews.

No, they really don't. There are literally dozens of volumes written on market research showing the value of influence. The only opinion, statistically speaking, that people listen to are the opinions of people they already value. People they have judged to have tastes similar to theirs. Random people on the internet have some of the least influence, individually, on the purchasing decisions of others.

However, because you're you, I know you know absolutely nothing about this subject and, instead, are just blowing smoke out of your ass like you do on literally every other topic that you have ever posted in here on BN.

Cutter wrote on Apr 19, 2019, 10:50:
That includes companies.

Companies care about what the majority of their target demographic buy. You are not their target demographic and the majority of the target demographic has already clearly shown through actual dollars spent that they don't care about having to use yet another game launcher service to play their games.

You are the minority, as you are in most things Cutter, and literally the companies you are throwing a tantrum over couldn't give a shit less about you since you haven't spent a single dime with them.

So, no, thank you for playing. The short bus will be along shortly to pick you up and take you back to the home.

I think the main thing I don't understand about the "paid shill!" argument is that this is BluesNews. We're old. We're spending less time gaming, and likely less money gaming. If you were to pay someone, would you send them to the small site that is full of cranky olds, or would you send them to the dozen Reddits that are 20x the size of this place, or Kotaku comments, or Twitter. Why pay people to come here, the 27,000s site in the US?

I love Blues, love Blue, but we're really too small to astroturf against.

The last straight up astroturfing I saw was that guy who created the account specifically to shill for OnLive and got seriously out into the weeds on time to render frames and button latency in some weird circular logic that latency didn't matter to games.

That was back around 2009 or 2010 if memory serves.

We haven't been relevant for a while :c\

Show me one media outlet that defended Allison Mack. One. Not a blog, a media outlet.

Also, Blues is not a trendsetting audience! I know this is very, very difficult for the egos we find here, but trendsetting audiences are 18-34. With video games, it may even be 13-24. It is, in no way, shape, or form, people over 40. The average user here is over 40. We are not trendsetters.

Lastly, Jesus, had you read the Mueller report, you would have seen the Russians were everywhere. The report did not find that Russians did not interfere - it found the exact opposite.

Lol if trying to discredit other people is the only thing you can contribute to this discussion then rather stfu.

How many games out of the 9300 that was released on Steam in 2018 are available elsewhere? If an Indie studio wants to release a game do you think they stand a chance to try and publish it on their own?

"When it comes to operating systems, Microsoft is essentially a monopoly. Microsoft Windows is by far the dominant operating system today. It is said to have at least a 95% share of the market. This is not technically a monopoly, but the market does show most of the characteristics of a monopoly."
You can do that all on your own, and doing so well all on your own. Remember the part we're talking about exclusivity. Reminder that Microsoft isn't paying developers to develop only on the PC - they have on their console on the other hand. Which is an appropriate comparison. "Single market lock-ins" are anti-compeitive behavior, the same way if Google or Apple only let you buy through them, and locked out competing services from selling on their platform(they do).

Your failure to understand the difference between the two does explain a lot though.

Remember the days when the game you wanted wasn't available for DOS, only Amiga or OS/2? You would have had to buy an entirely separate system to play them. Or, hell, even if something was Windows or DOS, and you had to boot separately to play them. No additional money spent, but you'd need to sit through a several-minute long reboot.

Remember the days when it was a 'choice of development' on what platform you wanted to make your game on? You could develop for DOS, Amiga, or O2/2 and ride the winds and/or market as you wanted. You remember the days when the commadore awas the primary development platform, and they didn't try to pay off companies to only sell through one storefront. If you wanted to make a proper comparison it would be like DOS developers only allowing their software to be sold at one business, and the same for Amiga and OS/2. But that didn't happen did it.

You keep saying lock-ins, anti-competitive behavior and exclusives like somebody is preventing you from pressing the download button on Epic's website. THAT IS THE ONLY thing keeping you from playing the games. Not costing you anything extra except your finger pressing down on the mouse one time for the download. How's that any different than downloading battle.net to play Blizzard games ?

oh and about that "Your failure to understand the difference between the two does explain a lot though." fart that came out of your mouth google Microsoft Monopoly

"MSFT ruled a monopoly - Nov. 5, 1999. NEW YORK (CNNfn) - A federal judge declared Friday that Microsoft Corp. possesses monopoly power in the market for PC operating systems and harmed consumers through its anti-competitive behavior, giving the government a pivotal victory in the long-running antitrust trial." - https money cnn com/1999/11/05/technology/microsoft_finding/

Your failure to understand how Microsoft compares to Steam does explain a lot though.

I once again want to thank Fortnite players for spending dollars so I can get your money indirectly from Epic, as they are giving non-Fornite players free stuff! You're the real mvp.

Look at all these 50+ posts. The only side giving reasoning and stating facts are the ones saying you are all overreacting entitled children just following the latest thing to hate on social media. Look at your post as an example... You might as well have said the sky is purple because "everyone knows it". No reasoning or providing proof, just parroting what you heard other people say trying to be part of something.

So you object to argument on the basis of genetic fallacy by spreading more genetic fallacy, ad hominem, and well-poisoning. You need to take a glance at the log in your own eye.

Generally, the more people try to fall back on "FALLACY, FALLACY!" the more likely it is that they're emotionally crippled manchildren that spend all their time on places like 4chan, or watching shouty men on YouTube, and fail to understand that fallacies don't disqualify an argument.

Waiting for: AD HOM!
So, by your own logic, your original post did nothing to address the argument, as it was an attempt to call out the genetic fallacy. Crippled manchild confirmed!

Clearly you don't.

No one owes you a goddamned thing. Don't like a distributor? Don't patronize them. Just stop throwing tantrums you entitled, spoiled, selfish children. No one gives a shit about your personal opinion and it seems quite obvious that the mass majority doesn't care. If they did, business practices would change. Hint: they're not. You're in the minority, get over yourself.

Most people care about other peoples opinions on why or why not to buy/use a product and/or service or we wouldn't have personal reviews. That includes companies. If they don't have your business they'd like to know why and what they can do in order to get it. So no, you're really not getting it. Thanks for playing though and we have some wonderful parting gifts for you. Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out.
