#25, Dagok, my problem with GameSpy and IGN is that they offer nothing to the community. Their writing stinks; their web pages are clunky and bloated; and well, they're not very personal. They're sterile, and their content is advertisement-based, like television. They worry about demographics and Neilson-like ratings. It's a corporate mindset, and so is this merger.
As for Fileplanet and GameSpy's software, well, I'll just let them speak for themselves. I already pay a monthly bill for bandwidth, and I don't intend on paying Fileplanet a freaking penny. I don't see how charging money for free downloads (under the guise of 'bandwidth is expensive') is helping the gaming industry.
And if the $20 you spent on a piece of software is the best $20 you have ever spent in your life, well, I'll just let that stand on its own.
