I bought DS2 when it was a $5 Steam sale. I must really suck or something because I kept dying at the friggin very beginning of the game. I think I reloaded 3-4 times before I just said 'wtf' and played something else. I'm sure I could have figured it out but why make the first experience in a game that frustrating? |

I've seen some videos of him talking. I can't remember where but he had a normal voice I thought. If you didn't think he was cool you will after reading this email exchange. |

That is a good story.
the innovative fifth-grader learned how to use a game design application called GameMaker... I used a game design application when I was 15 called GameMaker too. It was for the C64 though and my attempt to make a clone of Elevator Action never came to fruition. I wish I had such powerful apps back then that kids do today... |

As long as the pirated version is better there is no incentive to buy as far as I'm concerned. Case in point: last night I thought I would try finding a song I heard on the radio to download. I googled some verses and found the artist and name. Since I was on my kindle fire I decided to see if Amazon had the song at a decent price. They did ($5 for the 12 song album) so I bought it. I definitely would not have bought it if it was DRM'd and only played on my kindle fire or if I felt I was being price gouged (I'm looking at you e-books). |

Always use a vpn account on open wi-fi networks. And when torrenting. And for privacy in general. |

I uninstalled Impulse after Gamestop bought it mostly because I hate Gamestop so much I didn't want to see the stupid Gamestop icon/logo on my desktop. Not giving .01 to Gamestop. I'd rather re-buy my Stardock games on Steam if I ever decide to play them again. |

Yes, the casting in Game of Thrones is so perfect, the characters are what I imagined reading the books. Unlike the crappy casting for that Hunger Games movie. |

My internet has been down for a total of about an hour in the last 5 years. This is a just a whiney bitch point that isn't a realistic concern. Try living overseas on a military base with limited internet that gets hammered every night at peak times like 5-10PM. It's fine for surfing the web but for online games that require constant connection it is impossible. Satellite internet is an option and some folks do use that but the latency is so high it's useless for most online games which require any kind of reaction time to play. Of course all this is not a realistic concern right? |

Due to my unstable internet connection the only way I'll be buying this is if the pirates come out with a decent offline mode. Yes, I will actually buy the game if a third party cracks it. FU Activision/Blizzard. |

I had one of the original voodoo1 cards I think I gave to a friend years ago. About the only game I would want to play on it these days is Janes LongBow 2 even though it's somewhat playable with voodoo wrappers on Win7 already. |

Back in the 80's and early 90's I used to trust most game reviews from CGW. They had specific reviewers who specialized in different game genres and it was like an old friend coming back month after month telling you about a new game and whether it was worth buying. Alan Emrich used to review wargames and strategy games and he loved including tables of unit values and other game details. I still have a page from his review of the original Warlords that I keep with the manual. The internet eventually killed off CGW but at that point it was in the pockets of the advertisers anyway.
EDIT: by the way, CGW museum is great for reading classic game reviews. |
