Looking at the screen shots and the leaked videos, like Fallout 3, this doesn't look like something you'd see 200 years after a nuclear apocalypse. It looks more like 20 years.

How many nuclear apocalypses have you lived through?

I understand the idea behind trying to get a return on excess cash (and if they don't have to bring the cash back to the US to be taxed a second time, all the better for them)

No, that's not how it works. It often wasn't taxed the first time either, and corporations get a tax credit for any foreign taxes they've paid on that income. They aren't being taxed twice.

I picked up two of the Shadowrun games during the Halloween sale and I had so much fun I went ahead and "preordered" this. I can't say I'll be touching the PVP mode at all but I'm psyched for the Merc campaign.

I'm almost done with Hong Kong now, and I think it's been the most fun of the three SR games. Really looking forward to seeing what they do with the BT merc campaign now too. No reservations at all about backing this one.

Congrats to HBS! I don't personally have any interest in PvP (or co-op for that matter), but I hope this game serves as a good foundation for more BT games in the future. I want to see company-level engagements on larger maps at some point, with more complex missions that require that level of force.

Same here. Glad they hit all the SP goals though! Hopefully it does well and they expand upon it later.

Youtube and other sites can't survive if no one is paying them to place advertising. Now do I think it is their own fault for pushing the limits of acceptable advertising? Yes, but that doesn't change the fact that these are businesses, not charities.

They dug their own grave the second they decided to allow ads that would execute remote code, or install malare and so on. That's the reason why there's been a booming increase in people using ad blocking software. I'll be you ask the majority of people if they'd allow ads, and they'd say "sure but...x time I got ransomware" or something else is the reason I block all ads now.

If they want people not to use ad blocks, they need to take the responsibility themselves to vet people selling ads on their network, or offer restitution to viewers who've had malware installed and had a serious loss of data or require a reinstall because of their fuckup.

Exactly. Businesses are not entitled to anything. They need to make their business work for their customers, not the other way around. I suspect they'll find out the hard way if they go paywall, most people really won't care enough to follow. Although YouTube Red may not be a bad deal if you value the music aspect of it. It may be a drop-in replacement for another music service for about the same price, depending on how you plan to use it.

Now try coming up with a relevant study.

It's plenty relevant. It just doesn't make up bullshit that the SJW professional victims for money crowd lives off of.
It doesn't address the same population, so it's not relevant. Kinda by definition.

Really? And she knows this how? What's her first hand experience in the matter? And what about men who experience discrimination and misandry from women? Oh right, they don't matter.
Probably because there's a ton of examples of it all over the net. Saying that only first-hand experience counts is nonsensical. While guys may get some abuse like that, there's infinitely fewer cases of it, just based on sheer numbers of men vs women in gaming.

Bullshit.

The Pew online harassment study, based on a survey of nearly 3,000 Internet users last June, found that 44 percent of men and 37 percent of women had experienced some form of online abuse, from name-calling to physical threats and stalking. The biggest gender gap was in the fairly mild category of being called offensive names, experienced by nearly a third of men on the Internet but only 22 percent of female users. However, more men—10 percent, compared to 6 percent of women—also reported being physically threatened.

Cutter is right... you're just making shit up...

Now try coming up with a relevant study. Davis specially said women face harassment in gaming. If you're just browsing CNN and Facebook, you're probably not going to get harassed.

Cutter is well past the denial event horizon, and like I said, even if I find him some links when I get home, he still wouldn't care. He doesn't even dispute that.

And just like her you feel it's alright to lie. Where is your evidence for any of these claims? Oh right, you have none. Hey, I can make up shit to support my POV too. Did you know 97% of all males have experienced some form of discrimination and misandry from females at some point in their lives? And the moon landing was faked too because I just know that for a fact and don't have to prove any of my claims.

Yeah, not gonna play that game with you. If you think that there aren't a ton of examples out there, you're even more deluded than I thought. I'm not going to go hunt for the links from work, but it probably doesn't matter. I could come back with a hundred examples and it wouldn't make a bit of difference to you anyway.

My only concern about this game, aside from balance issues making it less than fun, is whether they're going to make it P2W in any way. If they avoid that, it may have a chance. If any company has shown it can compete in saturated markets, it's Blizzard. That kinda makes me afraid that they may also be one of the few that can get away with P2W. But if it goes that way, I sure won't be playing.

New take on "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep" and again no PC release eh?

I think the flood of AI wants/thinks it's human stories is just getting started. It almost seems like it's all I play these days considering the last games I put any time into were Talos Principle and SOMA. Also I really liked that Automata movie last year.

I just watched Ex Machina a few weeks ago. Great movie! Haven't played Talos Principle yet, but I own it and it's probably first up once my Steam Link arrives

I liked JA2. I think Alpha Protocol, despite having pretty bad gameplay sections, did a great job at really tying things together as well. But neither one of those sold well either. :\

I was just going to mention Alpha Protocol. Yeah, there was some weirdness with the mouse control in the hacking parts and a few other missteps, but I finished that game 3 times. In a row. I **NEVER** do that. I'm like the others here that never finished Skyrim or Oblivion. I only finished FO:NV once, and I think that's mainly because I was home sick for a few days.

If they'd managed to work a few bugs out before release instead of in patches later, I think Alpha Protocol would have done a lot better in sales. It's really a great game and I'd love to see another one like it.

Interesting article on a lot of levels. However, seeing a pedestrians always have the right of way then the vehicle must be programmed to risk the passengers instead. The needs of the many and all that.
If a car is headed towards a pack of pedestrians at unstoppable speed, then someone fucked up. I sure as hell wouldn't buy a car that might decide to sacrifice me, even if whatever happened wasn't my fault. This is definitely going to be some hellishly complex stuff to deal with. I don't envy the people who have to figure this stuff out.

In the end, I wonder if we'll even know how the cars are really programmed though. Look at VW. They successfully resisted attempts to gain access to their software by experts wanting to vet it. Of course now we see they had a pretty good reason (to them, not us) to want to avoid that. I suspect the situation would be much the same if people wanted to know how these self-driving cars are programmed to behave.

Wasn't there some concern that this would be pay to win? Maybe I'm remembering wrong. As long as they offer SP, I'm good.
They scrapped their microtransaction plans after fans complained loudly, so looks like that issue is taken care of. Not sure if it was ever going to be P2W, but apparently people didn't even want microtransaction skins and such.
