My girlfriend fell asleep while watching Netflix. She woke up and her laptop now had Windows 10. It wouldn't start though. It couldn't connect to wifi to complete the installation. The next day, I had to connect it with a cable in order to fix the issue. If you don't have a cable, you're shit out of luck. No more laptop for you.

I call bullshit.
Your "girlfriend" obviously was very sloppy with her mouse clicks and clicked the nag box instead of the 'X' in an attempt to close it thus accepting the upgrade.
The upgrade is scheduled for 3am unless changed by the user.
Result: Your "girlfriend" got updated while she slept.
Not to mention the final message box that appears the day before the upgrade to let the user know that the upgrade will take place the following morning.
I have no real love for Microsoft but, you are a hater.

So yeah, it's quite possible to get upgraded without actually doing anything.

For the last 3 months I have been doing an experiment. I have 8 machines set up in the back of my workshop. 4 laptops and 4 desktops.
All with varying CPU's, ram, etc. With a mix of Win 7 installs. (Basic, Home Prem, Pro and Ultimate) Mix of x86 and x64.
All conected to the net, all updated fully and set for "automatic update".
Each and every weekday i turn on these machines and each and every weekday I click the 'x' on the Win 10 nagbox when it appears.
103 days and counting there has been NO automatic updating to Win10.
That is 824 turn-ons and nagbox 'x' clicks. (<--- Whoops my bad. minus weekends)
I fully believe that this phenomenon is down to peoples sloppy mouse pointer use. (especially where laptop mouse pads are concerned).
i.e getting the nagbox rather than the 'x' to close it.
This also doesn't include the win7 machines I have for sale in the shop also connected to the net.

Don't see how that applies in my case. If it switched from Doom to some other window, hijacking my inputs, then that's absolutely Microsoft's fault.

I'm not sure what happened in their case, but in mine, I was playing Doom at the time, when suddenly the game closed and was at the desktop. I saw some other window flash on the screen for a second, and thought I had just CTD'd. Then I noticed that Doom was still showing in the task bar, and tried to click it to bring it back up. But then the "Upgrading to Windows 10" screen came up warning me not to shut down my system until it was complete. So yeah, it's quite possible to get upgraded without actually doing anything.

Regional pricing has nothing at all to do with the cost of producing the game. It's simply charging some people more because they live in wealthier countries, and charging others much less because they don't, but you want to sell to them anyway because your incremental cost per unit is essentially zero, so why not get what you can get from them.

So, instead of figuring out a single price that will allow you to recover your costs and make a nice profit, you try to segment the market and charge whatever you feel each segment will bear. This is becoming more and more granular over time though, with retailers experimenting with adjusting prices at individual levels based on all the data they gather about your buying habits. I think there's going to be more and more push-back against this sort of thing.

Any crowdfund is a gamble since you are investing in an idea/product. It's an interesting concept and I still enjoy it, but I'm far more selective in what I invest in these days. In total I have helped crowdfund 13 products, not all are games, and the one I regret to this day is MWO as a collosal disappointment.

I go by these rules if I have money to invest at the time:

1. Have they delivered any previous crowdfund projects successfully?
2. Have they delivered any previous non-crowdfund projects successfully?
^ Produced something I enjoyed or could see myself enjoying (decent reviews help)
3. Do the company leads run an efficient business already?
4. Do they have a reasonably, sound concept and maybe pre-alpha footage if its a media product (not overly ambitious)?

I remember this particular one, but I steered clear.

I'll add:

Do they specifically list their team members (by name and picture) and their previous accomplishments?

Have they backed any other projects? This is more of an etiquette for me, but I always thought it was tacky to ask for money if you've not been involved in KS before.

That's a good list of things to look at. Since there is little or no accountability for crowdfunded anything, I'm just staying away.

I've backed only the ones I thought could deliver:

Wasteland 2, Shadowrun Returns, Grim Dawn, Shadowrun Hong Kong, Torment: Tides of Numenara, and Battletech.

Battletech is still a ways off, Torment just released its beta, and the rest are finished products. All in all, I think things have turned out great!

It's not that you shouldn't back any of these. I've backed several, and while Wasteland 2 didn't really turn out to my liking, the rest have been pretty good, and a couple are still in the works, but looking good. Just don't back without the understanding that you may lose that money. If you've done your research into who exactly is doing the work and what their track record is, then you should know what you're getting into.

Having experience a few different VR setups now, I think it has way more potential than the 3D stuff. It really can be amazing and immersive in a way that 3D has never been.

I *kinda* liked the first one, but it felt like there was always an envisioned setup for your ship each mission, and other configurations weren't meant to be used. Meaning unless you put gun 1 at positions X Y and Z, and a shield as position T, and anti-missiles at S, you couldn't win the level. So each mission was just running the mission over and over again to see what enemies would appear, when they would appear, and what setup the developer meant for you to use.

Yeah, that's what a lot of tower defense games end up being. Basically each level is a puzzle with one solution. I'd like to be able to use a variety of possible solutions to win. That's harder to design for, but makes for a much better game IMO.

The best tower defense games allow multiple solutions to each level, however. Defense Grid, for example, allows many different ways to complete a level, offering replayability as you try to beat your previous score. Just as Creston, DG savant.

Yeah, I love Defense Grid. Not sure if this one is up to par with DG though.

It's waaaay too heavily tilted towards rogues, specifically rape ambush gangs.

I'd be totally down with fun shootouts against rogues. But, that basically never occurs due to the mechanics which overwhelmingly favor ambush ganks.

So yeah, I don't bother going in the Gank Zones anymore, it's just absurd.

Not like you couldn't have predicted this though I mean that was even shown during their very first pseudo narrated gameplay video

It wasn't like this early on. There used to be disincentives to going rogue. So much so that you didn't run into them very often, and you could actually farm in the DZ. Then they nerfed the penalties for dying as a rogue and within days the place was just gank city. Then they added that stupid rope cutting bullshit. Griefers paradise now.

I quit a week or so before they released Falcon Lost. A few co-workers played for a while longer, but they all quit last month. The game is now split between snoozefest of ridiculously repetitive "endgame" missions, and the rage-inducing bullshit of the dark zone.

That they've done nothing to add any kind of variation or random events to these missions is probably their biggest failing. Also their absolutely pathetically insecure client, and failure to do anything about the cheating and exploiting that caused the DZ to be so stupidly unbalanced, and that they allowed to continue for months. And their apparently complete lack of understanding of how to balance loot drops, stats and gear in a game like this.

The game is shit, and I hope their expansion fails miserably. They don't deserve any more money for their massive fuckup (PI).

If they don't have some kind of open beta that is a big success (ala Overwatch), this game is going to flop because everyone who got burned on the last one will avoid it, and all of us that saw those people get burned will avoid it. They're going to have to prove to everyone that the game is solid and worth it, and they can only do that with some kind of free play period.

I still don't see why 100K units on screen is at all desirable from a gameplay perspective. It would be an unmanageable mess.

Ashes doesn't give you individual control over your units. You control squads of units that are in the same-ish area, and similarly you issue attacks at squads.

That's great, but even if you have 10 units per squad, that's still 10,000 squads to control. It's ridiculous.

Which is why he wasn't charged for having air fresheners or smelling like something... He was charged for having 50 bogus credit cards. Which is illegal. There are billions of dollars in credit/debit fraud losses annually, is stealing money not a crime in your neck of the woods?

What was the probable cause for the search?

It's not like you can manage 100K units anyway, so it would be pointless to put that many on-screen. Who the fuck wants to play that? It's retarded.

It is. All paid content is cosmetic IIRC.
There are a couple things that are QoL as well, like stash tabs and extra character slots. You get 4 stash tabs by default, and 24 character slots. So you'll probably want to pick up a supporter pack at some point if you like the game, if only to get some more tabs.

I've been playing for a few years and have bought several supporter packs. The game is great, constantly expanding, well-supported, and totally worth it.

Highest I've gone with a character is 91. I don't have much interest in the grind at that point. I've done Atziri, but not uber. Highest map I've done is a T13. By then I usually want to play another build. I had 3 characters at lvl 90-91 last league. I linked my first 6L last league too. Was a Carcass Jack
