#70 brought up a good point.
If the stores get it Tuesday, and Steam releases it on the same day, the servers will definately be clogged.
They need to release the steam version on Monday morning to help spread the load on the servers.

CS: Source was released in the middle of the day, which clogged the servers.

Who says they're going to turn it on at midnight? And midnight for what timezone? No way, they're going to wait until they're at work, and that will mean 2pm est just like before. Get ready for more clogged servers on the 16th.

And I'm not talking about the old war ones either.

Finally some real FPS games to play set in the future.

Releasing in the middle of the day didn't help.
They should have turned it on at 6am or something, that way the west coast would still be sleeping. Everyone in the country is hammering their servers at the same time.

I don't mind all the patches. But Sierra and Irrational should re-gold the game and send a new version to the publisher so any one buying it for Christmas will have the latest updates.

I tried the demo on my new AMD FX53 machine and it crashed. I'm going to wait and see details of the problems before I pull my hair out.

I'm playing thru a 2nd time on Veteran. The only differance is that you take more damage. I end up pressing F5, go forward, get attacked, then press F9 and do it again.
Yes, the imps suck because they actually knock you back (looking up) and it takes a second before you can aim back down. By this time, they whack you again, and it's over, press F9.

Hell is cool for the scenery.

As the devs have said, major changes now are like stopping a freight train. It's too bad the open beta didn't happen during E3 when fans could have voiced their opinion.
Don't expect any game changes. Just minor bug fixes.

It would be cool if Raven took all the best maps, all the weapons, and all the physics of Q1, Q2, and Q3 and made them game types in Q4.
That's what fans want, their favorite game on the latest engine. Even JC has hinted he wanted to remake Q2.
I don't care if it take Raven an extra year, just do it.
Too bad the devs can't update the engine a year after a game has been released, it's never happened. The game is a couple years old, and using yesterday's technology. They've got to find a way to update the graphics, because some of the older games were really great, like Tribes2.

Release new 256mb textures and enhancements to the engine to bring it up to date with the 6800 series of Nvidia cards.

People will buy the Editors version (or patch their game) to see the new eye candy.

They should just wait for all the hype about D3 to calm down before they start opening their pie holes again.

If they release on Sept 28th, then Gabe can lie to everyone and say he was on target for the Sept 30th release date, and that he was on time all along.

Buying a new video card is not that expensive compared to other hobbies. I mean, people go play a round of golf, spend $100, and think nothing of it. Others go to strip clubs and blow a couple hundred. Some mod their car buying superchargers. Others own a boat.
The reason people complain about computer equipment, is because what they have isn't broken, just obsolete, and most gamers are young kids who don't have a lot of money.

And to those who say wait for a 512mb card, you'll be waiting. FS previewed the 6800Ultra on April 14th, and I finally ordered my 6800GT OC on July 16th, received it on July 23rd. So we're talking 3 months from when a preview appears on a gaming site, to when you can actually buy the card online.

Supremacy is worth it, especially if you have seen the first one. Some questions are answered.

These movies remind me of the tv show McGuyver, where things happen very quickly, and the guy seems to pull stuff out of thin air.
Entertaining? Yes.
Realistic? No.

I hope he updates the D3 engine along the way, so the game can continue on with the latest hardware.
I mean, if JC had updated the Q2 and Q3 engines, people would still be interested. They'd just have to release cheat patches.
Sure, the update would be huge with bigger textures, but so what.
I want to see a game that is updated 2 years after it is released, instead of making fans buy a new version and start over.

JC is too busy building a rocket to write a stinkin plan.
He was done with the engine and code paths months ago.

I've got this puppy on pre-order with 1 day shipping.
At least it took the 1st reviewer 23 hours to finish on medium.
Can't wait to get my 6800GT and see the eye candy.

I wonder when the NDA expires?

Can't wait to see the benchmarks on a 6800 Ultra.
Nvidia is gonna rake it in, because their cards will be plentiful on the street next month.

All this V wubbing is killing me. If the hype keeps up, fans might actually try V and forget about the T2 mess. Even the dev team is here. For those who didn't get it, the dude who posted message #3 is the PR rep.
