As for remembering passwords.... I usually do. But I read something on the steam forums about people stealing accounts by guessing the passwords.... so, in my wisdom, I picked something really out there... Sadly, it was so out there I've never been able to recall it...

This is a nice segue for me. In a few months I have to switch ISPs. I have sooooo many accounts, and logons and other online type stuff using my old ISP's e-mail address that I'm starting to become a bit alarmed.

Like you, I tend to forget my passwords or usernames after a few months and love the "Forgotten your password? Click here" option.

Rseman, I didn't have to re-enter any information into Steam. Like you, I also purchased via Steam.

Nah Grasman, I'm seeing it also. I tend to read web text with my mouse.
and I'm all out of Gmail accounts here. Google only gave me one batch and I had a hell of a time giving them away. At least now I know where to go when I get more

Gamespot rated HL 2 lower than Halo 2. Having played both I feel qualified to say that is FUBAR..

I thought each game was scored based against other games on the same platform. That is, Xbox games v. Xbox and PC v. PC. Are you telling me that you can directly compare Halo 2 and Half-lile 2 scores?

If that's true, it's the wrong way to score games.

Gandhi, here's a SPOILER solution for you. This should help you get through the area you are stuck in...

After destroying all those Manhacks in the Exploding Barrel room, you need to hop up on one of the horizontal pipes and work your way over to the landing on the other side of the room. Once on the landing, head into the connecting room and you will see a bunch of pipes. You need to hop down onto one of the pipes and find a valve that you can crank and raise the water level. This will allow you to access the sewer pipe below the previous room.

On another note, I really like some of the environment puzzles that I'm finding in the game. Some are no-brainers and some take a little more thinking.

I started pre-loading HL2 via Steam about a month ago. I haven't had any problems with it in any way. Pre-load, authentication...it's all good.

They are using the Tribes:Vengeance engine...the modified Unreal engine.

Well, chalk me up as one that is switching from ebgames.com to Steam. I am not interested in CS, but I do want Half-Life 1: Source. My pre-order at ebgames was $79.99US for the Collector's Edition.

I'm going to grab the Silver package, save $20 and see what the fuss over this whole Steam thing is about.

Here is what's happening: I'm supposed to see an image and type what I see into the box to receive a key. But unfortunately even in internet exploder I can't see the image, it appears as a broken image. What do I do?

It looks like the image is coming from http://net.gamespyid.com Make sure you aren't blocking that site with your firewall, popup blocker or hosts file redirect.

If you have another browser, try using that instead of IE.

It's worth the wait

I really enjoyed Tribes and Tribes 2. The only issue I had with both (and I have this issue with almost all online games anymore), is that I have to play with others

It seems like the days of "GG" and "nice shot" are gone.

I'm still willing to try it out though. I just need to take a chill pill before venturing into a game.

Well, I'm in line with an estimated wait of 122 minutes (up from 52 minutes a few moments ago). I'm waiting to download a 459.4 MB file from a server that is getting hammered.

Hmmm...

I'll check back on this in 6 hours or so

The happynowhere.net people put that spoof together.

http://www.happynowhere.net/mac_parody.php

I get a kick out of it everytime I see it.

"So I'm looking around in the list of the files trying to find the executable it wants me to update..and if I click anyone of them by accident... I rename it!

Oh no, it's been renamed nothing , it was some kind of important system file, and the computer crashes!"

Snatch. Brilliant movie!

That was the first movie that I had to rewind often to understand what Jason Statham was saying. I don't understand it, I'm a US citizen, but grew up as a Monty Python and Black Adder fan. I should be able to grasp a harsh British accent by now.

Also, my first introduction to a pikey as well. Loved the DVD "pikey subtitling".

Damn, I really am enjoying D3. I particularly like the flashlight and the inability to wield it and a weapon at the same time. Nothing like timidly peeking around a room with the flashlight in hand and my thumb poised over the "switch weapon" button ready to pull up my shotgun. I had to move the flashlight toggle button over to mouse4 because I keep switching back and forth and back and forth and...

I also stayed up late last night playing and am hangin' today. Big time!

As far as map editor documentation, there's information in the Doom 3 documentation on your hard drive. There are links to the QERadiant Doom 3 page also http://www.qeradiant.com/?data=games/doom3

Looking at Ray's 3dMark score reminded me of a question I've been meaning to ask in the FutureMark forums but haven't bothered yet.

Why does 3dMark03 incorrectly detect the 6800 GT cards Core Clock and Memory Clock speeds? http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=2854760 Mine should show as 350MHz and 1.00 GHz yet they show up as 5MHz and 4MHz. I see that Ray's are incorrectly detected at 16/13MHz.

I ask because after installing my 6800 GT, I ran an auto-detect settings on FarCry and the game returned an all "low" auto-detect. I bumped the settings up, but wonder if the low detected clock speed in 3dMark is a coincidence.

I also had gogamer.com ship me a copy of Gothic II to the States. Gothic I and II are my favorite RPGs of all time (although the first King's Field on the PSone runs a close third).

Bring on Gothic III!
