I'm cautiously optimistic with every PB game I see. Loved the first two Gothic and Risen games enough to put this one on my watch list for now. I just checked my Steam account and see I purchased Risen 3 but never played it. Damn

The Pcars 2 review is well done. I haven't heard of the BabelTech page before but plan to keep an eye on it after this. Well done.

Also, I learned a lot about the new VR FPS tool that Nvidia released called FCAT VR: https://www.geforce.com/whats-new/guides/fcat-vr-download-and-how-to-guide

I've been struggling trying to figure out if my rig is producing enough FPS for the games that I play, but the tools are poor for this. I've used the Oculus Debug tools in the past, but they are not as helpful as I had hoped. The FCAT tool that Nvidia released is better though and I ended up resetting a lot of my performance settings back to lower settings after analyzing my FPS in the sun, rain, thunderstorm and snow.

My first impressions are good! I played for a couple of hours last night with my Oculus and it was fantastic. As someone that didnít like the first PCars because of the crappy career mode, you would think that the I would have jumped into the new career early, but I didnít. What I did was try my Logitech G27 with and without the Rift and both experiences were excellent. PCars 2 did a good job setting up the graphic performance based on my computer specs, so I didnít futz with the settings much. Iím sure I will after Iíve had more time with the game though. The game auto-sensed my G27 wheel, so I just calibrated it in the game, added a button to reset the cockpit view and was off. I did not have to make any FFB tweaks either, which was a pleasant surprise.

The only changes I made from the defaults were to remove the helmet cam and jack up the Super Sampling from 1.0 to 2.0. The game looked a little blurry in my Rift when set to 1.0.

When launching the game from Steam, you can either launch normally, or select an option to boot into the Oculus or Vive mode.

Racing wise, I raced in a grid of 16 cars at Bathurst (Porsche 911 GT3, the road B one), Daytona with a full grid of stock cars, a rallycross in the rain and a point-to-point at the Azure Coast in the rain (Mercedes-Benz CLK). The last two in the rain were pretty impressive with huge rooster-tails spraying out behind the cars in from of me on the Azure coast.

I peeked in on the multi-player side of things and saw that there were options for dedicated servers and p2p but didn't make the time to race online.

I plan to look in on the career mode tonight.

1. Re: Project CARS 2 Launch Trailer Sep 20, 2017, 22:25 Hanover

I'm pretty pumped for this. My poor Oculus has been gathering dust waiting on another cockpit game, so please don't suck.

I liked the look, sound and feel of the last one a lot (and it's my goto game when I show off VR, along with Elite Dangerous), but couldn't for the life of me get into it. I think it was because everything was unlocked up front and there was no career mode to speak of, so I struggled to find ways to entertain myself. I apparently have no creativity. What I dig are the racing games that have a deep career mode and challenges and from what I have read, PCars 2 is better in this regard. Please be better!

I am chomping at the bit so bad for a new driving/racing game that adds VR. Codies did it with Dirt Rally, but then nada. Please add VR!

Awesome! I liked the first a lot though I never finished it, even after 90 hours. Split screen is a selling point for me.

I've had my Rift for a while now and in my opinion, cockpit games (with a steering wheel/hotas)are the best experience for me. Examples like Elite, Project Cars, Asetto Corsa, Dirt Rally (yow!), iRacing and Euro Truck Simulator 2 are system sellers.

I have a set of controllers as well, but haven't set up either them or roomscale at all. Also, I don't know much about the Vive, but the Rift is a fairly simple setup to your PC but it took me a couple of days to get the fit on my face to feel comfortable enough to go a few hours at a time.

Speaking of life after antivirus, we're looking into replacing our Kaspersky endpoint with Cylance. We're doing a proof of concept and I've researched a bit but has anyone had any experience, good or bad with Cylance?

I put about 30 hours into Alien Isolation when I finished it and loved most all of it. Well, the end got a little dumb as the Alien difficulty ramped up and the Alien was seemingly everywhere. I ended up kinda jerking the AI around (AI as in Artificial intelligence and not Alien Isolation) by hiding in the vents and taking advantage that the stupid Alien couldn't see me even if I was half hanging out of the vents.

Still, the game was really well done and I loved the environments a lot.

Not sure if you are still having the Win7 patching issue, but I run into this at work all the time. My current best solution for a fresh install that refuses to patch is the following (assuming you installed 64-bit):

1. WindowsUpdateAgent-7.6-x64.exe from here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/949104 (This may or may not be necessary, but I install it now from habit)
2. Windows6.1-KB3050265-x64.msu from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=47351
3. Windows6.1-KB3102810-x64.msu from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=49540

Install in that order and reboot when prompted. Hope this helps. It worked for me on the last few fresh installs.

Hmm, I notice now that I've spent the time typing this out that you may not be having the same issue, since you mentioned "wont update anymore". My issue was that on a fresh install of Win7, it simply runs forever searching for Windows Updates. This fixes that issue. YMMV.

Played a couple hours last night and everything went smooth. The game is sweet and so far, everything I expect in a souls game. First boss was stupid hard for me as a sorcerer but I suspect that shouldn't be the case. It was lovely though. I must be out of practice.

Using a controller on my PC for what it's worth.

I also have no issues with Videosift. I kinda like the links actually as they lead me to browse their top 10. I don't even do much to block ads, Firefox and Adblock plus is all.
