Damnit.
I have no time to play pong since I have to move and my girlfriend since two years back reported after heavy interogation that she has cheated on me during a trip to visit som friends the other day! The direct cause of that is alot of holes in the walls inflicted from my fists of fury(my plan is to move before anyone notice them) and an almost broken finger(the small one on the end of my right hand). After alot of non-packing for my moving I talked on the phone for 6 hours with her. The result of that is that I decided to never see her again, or atleast until I can cope with that shit.
Now my plan is to try to NOT kill myself and I cannot play Pong due to my broken finger.
Help!

Atleast my life is 10 times more bizarre IRL than it is online.
Like, what do I do for a living? Nay, I cannot tell you, the horror!

(only 310 so far. But a strong 310!)

I was supposed to move tomorrow but now I have to stay here and beat all of you in Pong! Moving can wait, Ponging cannot.

Yeah, but the way I assume some of us view it with the payed access is that you pay to get rid of the ads.
The ads really don´t bother me, they confuse me and sometimes they scare me, like the Die Hard-ad. The skyscraper ad isn´t annoying except the animation makes it hard for me to read the text(it´s brighter than the page and my eyes is drawn to it).
Ehm, where was I?
Oh, the subscription. The page continues with the ads as usual but if you toss up some money you get rid of them, but as I said atleast one time before the ads isn´t that disturbing, the whole thing is a cleverly disguised way for us to send Blue some money, you know, support him for this service and get something symbolic for it.

Now I have to play some more Pong.

Edit in my score, a bad 304. And I disagree, the computer did not win. It cheats, for sure.
Atleast it gets 40 points for every win, I only get 20, damnit.

Earlier my score was 10 or something like that, but when that guy posted that he reached 229 I had to beat it.
So my score now is 268, bwuahah. We´ll just forget that the computer had 500+ when the game was over... I won the last ball anyhow :p

<*start editing*>
Yeah, a subscription to get rid of the big adds(skyscraper) would be really great. I would pay for that.

The ads influences you over time, seldom do they get you to say "oh, WOH!" and buy something from them. But if you see an ad for god-knows-what a zillion times you´ll see that you would prefer that brand over the unknown brand if you were to buy a product.

And I would be very happy if you put up some donations page or something like that. PayPal. I would easily fork up $5 now and then.
Don´t see it as a donation, see it as some communist way of subscribing to a webpage and supporting your fellow comrad. : )

I thought it was fun. I´m not a fan of Monolith and the Lithtech since all games play in a similiar way, a way I don´t like(yes, it includes NOLF). Aiming feels strange, jumping feels somewhat strange, it runs sluggish and things like that. So far I´ve only liked Shogo when it comes to games running on the Lithtech-system.
But, I liked AvP2 to a certain degree. Although it suffers from all the things I´ve written above it made me continue play it for the 15 minutes it takes to finish the demo.
It was fun running around and actually being somewhat scared when playing it. Perhaps I´ll even buy it.
58 megs isn´t all that much if you have a decent connection, download it and try it.

So we´ve lost loony.
Perhaps he´ll come back some day, or perhaps, as another poster pointed out, he will bring some class to ShackNews and we have two good sites to visit instead of one :p

When I think about it, the community lost a bunch of really great writers. Here´s some of them: Jeremy from AGN, Looni from Blues and Lum from lumthemad.net(everyones favorite mmorpg-page :).

Oh well, perhaps the internet-market will stabilize in the future and sites like these can exist under the wings of sponsorship of greater sites, ISPs and such, offered as a service to its customers.

The game seems fairly interesting but is it fun?
The titles Sierra pushed around as their biggest titles hasn´t been all that good, or not what you´d expect from them anyway. Like Arcanum or Tribes, two thirds of the Sierra Triple Dose. The third title is Throne, hopefully this one is better than the other.

It´s sad to read that GoD falls completely under the Take 2-label. Despite the fact that GoD will go on, some of the soul of the company has now died in my eyes.

Oh well.

The old pics really got me going but the new ones don´t look all that exciting.

Look at the pic "disarming". The level geometry is crude, simple and looks boring to say the least. The red panel in front of kyle has unaligned textures. Oh, the panels also looks like they were stolen from 2001 or something like that.

Over to the shot "Jedi Duel". What is that you see just to the right of the other jedi, a glitch in geometry?

The next shot "Jedi Face-off" really doesn´t look all that special. Looks somewhat like a mod to me when it comes to leveldesign.

"Poor Stormtroopers" just looks boring in terms of level. Not a very polished shot.

"Stormtroopers everywhere". These remind me of Quake 2.
Look at the officers just facing that screen holding their weapons. It really doesn´t give you a feeling that they are actually doing something besides waiting for you to kill them.

I don´t say the game is bad, I just say that it looks to be very early in development. Or at least I hope it is.
I´m really looking forward to the game and when the first batch of screenshots was released I almost wet my pants with excitement. The shots were polished and showed off parts of the game in a really nice way.
So I was very dissapointed when these shots arrived.
To me they look somewhat like a beefed up Elite Force, but with Star Wars instead of Star Trek.

But is it any good?
The Mechwarrior-games has always been very fun, except for the fourth in the series which I didn´t really like, and MC1 was well received though I hardly didn´t play that one.
MC2 has gotten alot of attention and it seems fun and stirs up memories from Squares SNES-title Front Mission, but is it fun, worth to play or is it just a Microsoftend-title, like MW4?

"World War III Online: Blitzkrieg"
Wouldn´t that be World War II Online? : )
Of course, a WW3-online game would be somewhat cool, perhaps it could feature some Venom-tracks or something("Promotors of the third world war").

Torn was never cancelled, it just turned out really ugly in gameplay and graphics(loads of neon) so they had to make a Tron-game out of it. It´s true!! I read it at FatBabies.com! : )

I don´t wan´t to pick on the game but I too expected a game running more stable than anything out there. I´ve had some problems with the game crashing back to the desktop and this I blamed my computer since this game, if any, should be free from bugs.
Well, they now release a patch that fixes that bug and the SafeDisc-bug(don´t have a problem with that one) what more do you ask?
If you haven´t played the game you really should, it is very stable, it loads fast, plays fast and so on, a fantastic piece of software all-in-all.
I´m running it on a P3-800, 192mb RAM and GF2MX at 1024x768x32bpp and the game goes smoother than anything else I have.
A friend is playing it on his Celeron 500 with a G400 and it plays like a dream for him. The game is optimized to hell and back, and that exit-based portalenging surely isn´t slowing the game down : )

If you want an advice on the game I have this to say:
Play the first level. When you´ve done that, restart and play it again.
By doing this you get a better start of the game and it´s more fun since the second time you´re running it you´re more prepared on the enemies, know better how to fight them and doesn´t take as much damage and thus eliminating some of that fun-killing quicksave/quickload that you have to do when you have two pixels of life left and doesn´t know when you´ll get more painkillers(energy).

I really liked SirTech. A small and somewhat independent studio that made great games that some(not all) people enjoyed.
Like Jagged Alliance. Damn. Fallout Tactics doesn´t hold a candle to Jagged Alliance 2, a game that deserves more credit and, more important, sales.
When I look at SirTech and wonder what´s gone wrong I can only say that it took to long to finish Jagged Alliance 2.
Then they had problems finding a US publisher if I´m not entirely mistaken and from that it just rolled on.
Oh well... Another one bites the dust...
