Well props to them for trying a new concept.

It's certainly better than all the cookie cutter FPS that claim "realism" all while looking like a two bit student CG project, i.e. everything coming out in the next two years.

23. Re: anyone else having problems with.... Jun 16, 2003, 09:37 Nimh

The video played fine for me and it was actually a pretty good warm up.

About the paranoid features... I thought that if I targeted one person amoung many it would effect them differently than if I scared the pants off the entire house. It didn't seem to do that though.

I'll give it a try tonight with moaning, wind, chains, etc.

I also checked amazon.com and they say the game will be released on Sep. 2nd. That's a pretty long way off.

16. Re: gay game Jun 15, 2003, 23:58 Nimh

I singled out the spider lady for an hour. I was certain that she was paramoid or even super paranoid. She was running around squaking to everyone. Anyway... I finish it up without a single point for paranoid?!?!

I couldn't even get the madnes level to change for any of them either. I don't think it's part of the tutorial level. (which by the way was the only level that came with my demo)

On the plus side I got someone to faint! They were watching TV without any terror. I gave them the spiders right on top of her head and she keeled right over.

I'll give the fainting thing a try again.

This game totally slipped under the radar for me and I'm glad I decided to try the demo. Props to devs for coming up with a pretty unique concept.

How do you get someone to go mad? I can only drive them away even though I'm really targeting the individuals.

I've sat in the mission for quite a while and the "mad" scale doesn't budge.

And has anyone managed to get anyone to faint yet? I can't seem to pull that off either!?!

13. Patch Delayed Jun 5, 2003, 16:03 Nimh

The patch is going to be delayed a bit.

http://www.vietcong-game.com/uk/news.html

"Contrary to yesterday's statement regarding VIETCONG's patch being ready today, we regret to inform you there will now be a slight delay with this patch. It's currently still under construction and will hopefully be available for download in a short while. We thank you for patience."

Unfortunately Codemasters seems to have slipped up a bit with that demo. I've never seen such poor quality from them, I suppose that can be blamed on it being a PS2 port.

As long as I don't have to install the air conditioner I'm happy. At least the sun is out this morning.

Blue... Have you looked into Optimum online? The only reason I mention this is that my speed, somewhere South of you in Westchester, is 1MB up/10 MB down. It's $40 a month and the speed is amazing. All the xDSL services I've tried didn't even go above 750/1500.

Is it Morrowind boring or is it Freelancer boring?

I like one type of "boring" but I hate the other... I just want to know how they compares to EVE online.

I won't knock the game yet, but Jesus -- who came up with that title?? lol.

Either the Bush adminstration or the Pentagon. This game title would seamlessly blend into a current CNN/Fox/MSNBC story. No doubt that was the intent.

12. Chainsaw? Apr 30, 2003, 16:40 Nimh

Since when did someone start a holding a chainsaw from the throttle? And what's that little "bar" he's holding onto, I certainly hope it isn't the starter rope.

Come on guys... get in the field for a day with a chainsaw before you pretend to model it in a game.

12. Re: Judge File-swapping tools are legal Apr 26, 2003, 16:18 Nimh

It's a bit different guys. Everyone and there mother knows these programs are made to make public file sharing so easy an idiot could do it. And this isn't so people can share there cooking secrets.

If you use the car analogy then it would be like making a car with guns and saying that it's up to the owner to not fire the guns mounted on the car. The fact of the matter is that we all know what these programs are used for. We, those who create IP, just need to find a way to secure ourselves from those networks and those theifs.

I doubt that'll happen anytime soon but here's hoping.

A couple points...

Ad-aware wouldn't even be known if it wasn't for the holes in IE. Do you IE users know what Ad-aware is? I kinda think you do.

I've used Phoenix for the past year and the latest builds of it are of top notch quality. The reasons I like it are...

1. Open Source
2. Image blocking (ad blocking)
3. Java screening/blocking
4. tabbed browsing and tabbed homepage
5. 100% HTML standard compliant, unlike IE.
6. No activeX, or .net/passport crap.
7. No pop ups
8. Built in google bar.
9. No need to install Ad-aware

But in the end... Different strokes for different folks.

News Comments > Fire Chief Announced

10. Re: Yeah, Fire Chief Sim Apr 17, 2003, 11:16 Nimh

You get to sit around on your ass, go to various city council meetings to beg for money, and use workers that should be renovating the fire house to build a pool in your backyard, all while fudging budget estimates and organizing rallies to prevent the city from cutting your budget by invoking the heroic sacrifices of your brethren firefighters who died on Sept. 11th due to mismanaged communications.

Yeah, I'd buy that game.

You live in NY also?

1. 1503 review Apr 3, 2003, 13:12 Nimh

Check out that 1503 review. The editor went through and mocked his own reviewer. He even chopped parts out. Pretty classy guy.

I'd hate to see him get his hands on a Simcity review. After he finished chopping it up it would be a one paragragh whine fest.

I guess it's a "fill-in-the-blank Planet.com" site so it's not too surprizing.
