I finally had some free time last weekend to try this. I downloaded Origin only to find that my account was completely empty, which was every applicable BF title pre-BF4. This is like my ultimate online distribution nightmare.

I guess once you link a purchase in Origin it's just a roll of the dice if you can keep your purchases after a period of inactivity. A bit of a bummer that it's all gone now.

Until Origin closes down for good, those purchases are yours and should not be deleted. Contact them you want all your purchases back immediatly.

As for the game, I am just happy that I didn't purchase it. Since BF3 I've no interest in Dice since their terrible attitude towards the mod community.

You would think right?

Tried EA support tonight for about an hour.. waited 30 min. on a Chrome session and then tried it again on IE, no response. I'll give it a shot tomorrow. I will try to send another Origin error report, but those have not been answered to date.

Is Ubisoft wading into the PC space game drama club now? The genre does sell really well, and as with NMS you really don't need to deliver that much content to make mad bank.

One thing I don't think you can knock Ubi for is production value, to compare to the amount of content available in NMS is a bit of a stretch. Even though the gameplay became boring and predictable, the AssCred series thew ridiculous amounts of man-hours into producing those worlds, WD_1 too while we're at it. WD_1 had like 3x the city of GTA V. Watching the credits for one of these games I swear I saw a dozen Ubi studios worldwide that contributed to these titles, a far cry from the 16 people working on NMS. One of these Ubi AAA titles has about the same number of studios working on the same project as NMS had employees ^_^

I didn't get that much mileage from the AC series.. climbing towers got boring pretty quickly, similar to scanning the same flora/fauna ad infinitum.

Ubisoft art assets are amazing however.

Yeah, I guess we should just wait fpr the redux version though, right? That's so sleazy when a dev does that.

Yeah, it definitely suxors when developers improve their games. Slap

They had big steam sale on the non-redux version, then 1-2 weeks later came out with redux version with no upgrade path. These are the same devs that sell difficulty modes as DLC. They can run backwards through a field of dicks.

So Sombra is basically Tracer with a manually placed recall point and invisible power walking instead of blink? I'm not sure why they made another character like this, Tracer does not seem super popular.

Everyone bought into agile development hook line and sinker.. Unless your goal is testing this will always be a afterthought. It's great for the bottom line, and iterating a design, but not so great for quality.

This is more than just lowly app developers these days.. witness what is happening to Autodesk, Microsoft, Google, etc.

If Valve wants to get developers onboard then it should be provided support to developers and pushing for a simultaneous launch. Valve makes huge amounts of money from Steam, which would easily pay for a team of Linux specialists to assist developers. That's how nVidia gets developers to incorporate Gamesworks features.

Right now SteamOS is just a novelty that has little in the way of backing. Valve needs to ensure that at least 75% of AAA releases are available for SteamOS to make it at all credible.

Look at Codemasters' F1 series - F1 2010, 2011 and 2012 don't support Linux; F1 2013 does; F1 2014 doesn't; F1 2015 does; F1 2016 doesn't. Call Of Duty 1 doesn't; 2 does; MW1-3 do; BO 1-3 don't; IW doesn't. There's absolutely no bloody consistency.

Only Nvidia and AMD know their own hardware.. that's for them to do, not Valve.

Congrats *redacted*!

My father has been a fan for 75 years. He grew up in the mid-west and baseball is huge for him. His comment from our email this morning was "Feeling of awe.. may take me a while to adjust".

I went to bed at the rain delay so I missed the 10th inning. I was not expecting the headlines this morning at all, in fact I was 90% sure that they were going to blow it in grand *redacted* fashion.

There were a lot of good FPS games so far this year, more than usual I believe. But yeah, Arkane.. this should be phenomenal.

How about a how long will the Google Pixel be supported and receive security updates from Google test?
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=how+long+will+google+pixel+get+updates

Thanks, but we all knew the answer already. It was one thing when they charged $350, but at $650 it is a bit rich for a device that will be abandoned in two years. (2 years if you buy now, less for everyone else.)

CCleaner hides a Chrome install and changes your default browser now. It caught me by surprise. I reviewed the install options and the custom install options. It doesn't give you a choice not to install chrome.

I just checked mine going from 5.22 (7.86mb installer) to 5.23 (7.89mb installer) and didn't get anything else installed?!

I know a lot of programs are using chrome now to render an options window or something, but ccleaner is not one of them.

This is not normal trading or market place transactions.. it's gambling. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skin_gambling

Valve claims they can not control it, which is quite a convenient argument to defend their bottom line.

The planets are first procedurally generated using seed information. Then an artist goes in and can paint on biomes on the macro to normal level. They can also place down objects. These objects could be fully hand crafted landing zones, or just trees, rocks and people.

Chris wants no planets, or moons that are just procedurally generated. He wants at least some artist sculpting, even if it is a barren rock moon.

The terrain generating tech is 10-15 years old so it's really nothing new. It does strike me as disingenuous to label the video Procedural Plants, when 95% of what they displayed was artist created and scripted (only the section between the landing pad and the first wreckage looked procedural). Remove all that and it's NMS 2.0.
