Dang, I really wanna play this game more but dang I don't wanna play this game more.

Man.. This comment perfectly encapsulates this game.

The game is gorgeous, full stop. But the game-play loops are so awful. Maybe it comes down to the limitations of their instancing system. Whatever it is, it's really bad.

On the forums they're talking about 3.0 materials collecting. Apparently you go to one planetary base to collect materials and just log out and log in to replenish the supply of rare items. This is so typical of Elite Dangerous "game-play".

PDF is such a shit show of a format that it trips up most users. Especially if you are attempting to swap data between software suites, etc. Adobe in it's vast incompetence actually did the US public a solid on this one!

If more ppl would vote with their wallet, we would not have this kind of issue, however, having a label "loot box alert" attached to the game would be a small step in recognizing that this mechanic is a problem.

The crux of the problem is this entire scummy fake currency system big publishers (but really, mainly EA, Activision and Ubisoft) have setup. There is a reason lootboxes are considered gambling, since you often can't even pay for them with direct money transfer, there is always 1 more step involved which detaches you from the payment, and especially for younger people this is a huge problem. And just like casinos give you chips for money, EA gives you fake money for real money that THEN lets you buy loot boxes. Why are casinos gambling if loot boxes aren't?

You forgot Valve.. the godfather of loot boxes.

The Agile manifesto has ruined silicon valley. Testing? Pffft.. ship now, patch later.

Uh, test-driven development is kind of integral to Agile.

Yup, tested by the consumer.

A) Again, Test-Driven Development (TDD) is integral to Agile methodologies. Typically, TDD (in Agile or otherwise) loops tightly and iteratively between writing tests until production code fails, and writing code until it passes tests again. TDD isn't perfect, but it's generally agreed to be superior to the alternative of having graduated phases of design, implementation, and testing, wherein testing doesn't happen until after you're ostensibly done implementing the software.

B) Apple's software engineering practices are still very 90s big corporation-y, according to my colleagues who are former Apple engineers. That means low test-coverage, heavy middle management overhead, and fixed designs and deadlines. In other words, the embodiment of practices that the Agile Manifesto sought to fight against.

While some aspects of Apple may still be managed in that fashion, the trend has been new feature roll-out at the expense of testing (silicon base ring + wood example).

Anyway, it all comes down to implementation, and for some industries its required more than others. The heavy hitters have been dropping the ball, period.

And of course he was welcome into Canada with open arms by Canada's liberals. And given millions of dollars to boot because no actual real Canadians need help here obviously. I so fucking hate Canada's traitors liberals.

2008-2013 was Harpor's government, that damn liberal traitor.

Congrats New England, you're now the losingest team in SB history. To be honest you didn't earn your spot this year after being propped up by three overturned touchdowns and the last five games of referees tilting on your behalf. You certainly have talent and discipline but your meta bullshit is ruining football.

Guess next year Kraft will need to bury his tongue a little deeper in Riveron's asshole, or is it vice versa? We may never know.

I find it quite disturbing how many of you think this is okay. Blizzard is literally ordering surveillance on their own players OUTSIDE of the game to detect "toxicity". They're going to read your Twitter or Facebook or your Vlogs on youtube and make a moral determination on whether you deserve to be their customer or not.
Reverse the situation and imagine if it was Facebook who were probing Overwatch chatlogs to determine if you deserve to exist on their service. This shit gives me the creeps.

It doesn't even make any sense to check social media in the first place. If you can't tell someone is "toxic" from their actions in-game then you have no justification to ban them, period.

Blizzard runs a very well curated experience with their stomp or be stomped matchmaking algorithm, with 1 or 2 fair matches per evening jammed in there. Of course they are upset when people either quit or screw with that system in any way. Clever that they call it player toxicity, when it's by their design.

Has this game been flushed out? The beta was good but after a 20-30 hours you pretty much saw or did all that there was to be done. Still p2p instances for everything?

Big Fucking Gaming Display.

I don't imagine too many people have a PC setup where a 65 inch screen is all that useful...

That where you're wrong friend, I play on my 70" TV and have been waiting for something like this.

And since you are the "many people" he refers to...
I doubt Nvidia invested in the R&D for just one person. My guess is there are quite a few who game on bigger screens.

The first generation of PC gamer is aging.. dot pitch and high resolution are probably becoming secondary concerns to overall size and legibility. My 80 year old father is now using a 32 inch TV for a computer monitor. It looks like ass but he's happy, so whatever.
