Yeah, ball lightning is going to hover motionless and fly in grouped formations. Uh-huh. There are plenty of other videos out there showing equally strange craft, that is seemingly beyond the capabilities of any technology today. Whether it is secret military projects or advanced "visitors" is the question that needs to be answered.

How about having the PR text able to collapse or expand with a "+/-" button? You could even make the default setting an option on the site, so the people that like to read the PR have it expanded by default and the people that don't have it collapsed by default?

So, what did everybody learn from their UT'04 / BF:V pre-ordering experiences?

I learned that sometimes pre-ordering is actually useful, instead of locking you into retail price and possibly getting your game after everyone else who didn't pre-order has gotten theirs.

...but then it would be GTA.

Also, isn't that basically what Mafia was?

Erm, the link to the ET MOTD seems to point to the link from the Game Development & Mods post to the level editor.

Both my local EB and Best Buy didn't have it (Thousand Oaks, CA). EB told me they would have it tomorrow.

I'm really looking forward to this expansion. Battle Realms is one of the best unnoticed games out there, and anybody owes it to themselves to pick up this one and check it out. A nice little replacement for those tired of WC3.

If you think about it, it is hard for the majority of FPS games that contain scripted events, for example what if one player were to go ahead and trigger a scripted event that would say, cause a hallway to collapse in order to prevent the player from going back, the other player would be stuck behind. At the very least the other player would not see the scripted sequence unless the other player were magically teleported next to the initiator's side like Halo did.

I agree with you, some of the most rewarding game playing experiences were playing co-op, but it's hard to do and keep a non-linear, script driven plot. For "mindless" shooters like Doom, this works fine though.

"Taking the role of mercenary Logan, the player is armed with a massive arsenal including knives, pistols, sniper rifles, machine guns, plasma rifles, flame throwers and rocket launchers. Our hero is also given Implants, which can improve character's parameters (like accuracy, health, or speed), and Equipment, which includes flashlights, radar, sonar, med-kits, drugs (stimulators), various explosives & grenades, and other non-firing weapons, which can be used during missions."

Hmm, Deus Ex anyone? At least the graphics look good. At first I thought it was the Unreal Warfare engine, but I guess it's their own engine, pretty impressive, although it looks like a GeForce3 required kinda game to me.

I'm very happy to see Mr. Carmack pushing for a general feature set in future video cards. I think the diversity among graphics cards (and other computer hardware) is the sole reason why PC games cannot advance to the point of exploiting the hardware that most 2nd or 3rd year console games do.
