Well, duh, no company wants to wire that. There's no ROI. If only there was some other kind of national agency that could provide service to the entire country...

If only there were some tax credits the government gave these companies years ago to do exactly that...

That is a very large number for an audience. Does anyone know how it compares to a sports tournament? Comparable to Pan-American? Olympics?

They licensed it because it leads to immediate name recognition. Most people wouldn't give to thoughts to it until the name was slapped on it.

While I miss the game somewhat, I do not miss the time I sunk into it.

It wasn't that bad either, they just had some significant issues they never got around to fixing. The economy, for example, was pretty poorly thought out.

It was nice, however, to have an mmo where skill was a significant part of it. And the semi-Newtonian physics was a nice touch.

I'll admit that it wasn't bad. But being not bad wasn't good enough even back in the infancy of mmo's.

I remember playing the beta for jumpgate way back in the day, when I was out and about testing a bunch of mmo's. Wasn't that good, but I needed a sci-fi fix and it got the job done.

I don't have the disks for 1 and two anymore and I never got tactics so I wouldn't mind going back and reliving the g(l)ory days.

On the very same day, the Hubble Space Telescope became viable after a restoration conducted by spacewalking astronauts on STS-61. I don't remember using Worldcraft, but I used DEUS or something. I remember config.sys, autoexec.bat, multi-configs, emm386.exe, qemm386.exe, Stacker, DOS4GW.exe (DOOM used it IIRC), conventional memory (ugh), etc.

Oh God, qemm386.exe brings back memories. I am so glad I don't have to deal with that any more. All that voodoo magic just to get close to that 640k. I think the best I could do at the time was like 614k? Moving things into upper memory. /shudder
