Apart from the past mainstream of PC-based and other online games, the gaming environment provided by the advent of Lineage, where tens of thousands gamers suddenly became simultaneously involved in real-time conflicts under the special circumstances in Korea at a time when PC game rooms were gaining popularity, [these incidents] were thought to have been isolated instances that occurred during this transitional period while in search of a more mature gaming culture.

What a sentence...

Your not doctors, your game developers. Or are you doctors? It's one or the other.

Why? Obviously they had to study medicine to become a doctor, so they have a certain level of expertise regarding this issue. In my book this means that they are more qualified to comment on it, compared other developers without that knowledge.

So why shouldn't they state that they know what they are talking about? Beats me why you think that they shouldn't be allowed to tell others about their medical knowledge. The bottom line is: they are doctors, it's a medical matter, so they mention their experience when they state their opinion. Can't see why that should be wrong...

Aaliyah acted like a spoiled brat for wanting all those damn luggages in the plane.

How do you know this is what happened? From what the article said she might not have had a single suitcase with her. There were eight other people on board, remember?

However it was, I feel sorry for her and the others. And I got quite annoyed reading your post because you implied (at least that's how it appeared to me) that she deserved to die because she was famous and took along too many suitcases (which you cannot be sure of). She is dead and she had a family and friends and fans that mourn her. Just imagine for one moment that one of them happens to read your post on BluesNews right now. How do you think it'd make them feel? It's even worse because it is based on utter speculation.

You shouldn't judge anyone based on what your imagination created from a one page article. Especially not if he or she died under tragic circumstances. This incident has caused enough grief already, without you adding to it.

...that doesn’t use subscription, advertising or phone bills to generate the revenue

Hmmm. Depends on how they interpret the term "advertisement", but somehow I already see me buying my new Wilkinson bronze short sword, together with Nike sandals and a Fruit of the Loom leather armor.

At least that would explain the sentence "the revenue model relies on simulating proven real-world mechanics"

Yeah, but what kind of personality? I have yet to meet a dog who wasn't a son of a bitch.

A Bene Geserit/Sand Worm crossbreed? Oh PLEASE, WTF were you guys smoking?

Actually this is pretty similar to what happens in one of the original Dune novels.

*SPOILER ALERT*

In "Children of DUNE" Leto II (Paul Atreides' son) kind of merges with sand trout (i.e. mini sandworms) and becomes something of a cross between man and worm.

I found this demo painful. Simply painful.

I agree. The AI is not only bad, it's nonexistent. I killed the first trooper from behind and his companion (who stood right next to him) didn't react at all. After killing that one I got suspicious and tried to run circles around the next pair I saw. I ran around before them for half a minute and they still didn't react. Then I killed one and, you can guess it, the other just stood there, nonmoving.

About the camera: it's the worst of it's kind I've ever seen. I even suspect that it's not dynamic at all and it follows a preprogrammed path. Sure looks like it, because every time you don't go exactly where they obviously want you to go it's absolutely horribly misplaced...

I have no idea why they released this demo. I dare say that no one who played this demo will even consider buying the game. They could just as well have written "Bad game - DON'T BUY!!!" on the box.

actually the game was originally intended to be MP...

Really? Hmmm. I remember an article from WAAAY back then stating that it would not include multiplayer. Come to think of it, the article was in the same magazine that later claimed the Quake 3 engine was voxel-based. Oh well, I guess I'll just take your word for it

Seeing that the game took years to complete, they no doubt had to ditch the MP aspect due to the time constraints.

I don't think so. They never mentioned it would include multiplayer and always said that they were concentrating on the singleplayer experience. And Max Payne lives from the strong main character, the story and the cool bullet time action sequences. Multiplayer MP wouldn't have any of those, so what would be left? A generic 3rd person shooter with nothing but some nice graphics to make playing worthwile.

The issue that I am not pleased with is RMD's stance of the bullet-time not working in MP and using that as the (?one of the?) reason(?s?) why they did not implement MP as a cheap way out.

What do you mean, "a cheap way out"? They did an awesome single player game. Isn't that enough? Where does it say that every single player game has to have a hacked together multiplayer mode? To tell the truth, I'm rather sick of those "we need another bullet mark for the box" multiplayer modes. In my opinion they should either do it right or don't do it at all. And the concept of Max Payne just doesn't translate very well to multiplayer, so I'm actually glad that they didn't waste any time on that.

The rain was coming down so heavy that I had to go about 40-50 on the freeway, at times slower or faster (to allow for a safe visibility)... [...]
But before I left and once I got home, the storm was a great one to watch.

If you like this you should visit northern germany. We often have rain like that. And worse: recently I actually had to stop the car because it was pouring down so hard that I could see nothing that was more than about two meters away (that was in the city, though, not on the freeway ;)).

So, come over and enjoy the rain! We've more than enough for everyone

Just had a look at shacknews to see how loony is doing.

- Is it just me or has the Shack's news coverage noticeably increased in the past two days? Can't be so sure about that because I'm only an occasional visitor, but if it's true I wonder why

- Loony has abandoned his real name! He's posting under some weird nickname: "jason bergman". Loony, if you're reading this, don't abandon your soul by accepting this strange alias. Fight for your right to call yourself "loonyboi"!

- Why is a part time employee posting more news than the two full time guys together? Just because he's new?

Well, even though I don't like the Shack that much, I'm happy to see that Loony has not lost his professional attitude yet ;). Good luck "jason" (Duh! ) and I hope you feel comfortable with your new job!

There's not really any content to pay for in the first place. Show me in-depth analyses and original content and I'll accept that you're buying a product. But as it stands, what would Blue be charging you for? The privilege of reading an article on another site?

BluesNews is not offering a product but a service. What Blue, Frans and Loony (up to now) really do is collect information, aggregate it and present it to you in a condensed (and at times humorous) form. This is a very valuable thing. Imagine you had to visit hundreds of non-news sites every day to find out about some new game demo, preview, review, whatever. The way it is now you can simply lean back, read BluesNews and be sure that you don't miss anything important. THAT's the service Blue offers and he's damn good at it.
