Isn't it time to rename it to DoomCon anyways?

Latest rumor: VR! Star Citizen VR!

I guess this should take just another few years and another $30,000,000 donations to be implemented properly... into the pre-alpha. Hahaha_no

I remain amazed that people keep throwing money down this hole.

I am guessing these whales have a "it is too big to fail now" mentality.

What I learned years ago about dream projects and false prophets: you cannot discuss with those people that WANT to believe in them. Hope and beliefs cannot be questioned from the outside - the believers themselves need to find a way out of the labyrinth they willingly walked into. They got to find their own escape route - trying to convince them they are getting fooled almost never works. They only learn by understanding and experiencing that they are getting shortchanged, and they usually do by falling flat on their faces and standing up again by their own effort.

SAW HIS HEAD OFF! DISEMBOWEL HIM!

AND DO IT TURN-BASED!

Yeah, looks interesting. I will wait for reviews, though. Most TBS games in the last 2 years just looked great before release but in reviews its sometimes big problems got revealed. I will keep my fingers crossed that this will be neither too shallow and repetitive nor too complicated to be fun.

I'm guessing just a clever reference to how Prey can't get a sequel, regardless of which 'boot it is.

The most recent Prey was such an excellent game.

Stay home, stay safe. I am happy to say that up to now our numbers over here are pretty low and if people stay the f**k at home, we might get out of this better than the WHO numbers made us expect. But it depends on the people staying cool and thinking instead of panicking. So - most of all stay at home. This is one of the rare situations where doing nothing (for most people) is saving lifes. So be a couch potato and play the heck out of your favorite games, people. I got a day off from work and am just happy that up to now things are still alright.

Don't get panicked by all the fake news spread by people who want to make a profit of this flu.

As you yourself say:

"Statistics and numbers are always something to be looked at with not one, but plenty of grains of salt. A lot are not perfect, but at least helpful. It is really tricky."

Precisely, Blue. They can give you a rough idea but can never and in no way be absolutely precise. But they give you a trend based on the KNOWN facts. This is and must be good enough to work with. And these first numbers and statistics are always better than what people judging based on feelings, prejudice, and fear come up with.

That indeed. I do want this game, but a fricken' Pandemic that just smashed the world financial system and appears to kill about 3% of those it gets is worth taking the time to stay safe.

I personally have the next 3 weeks off because of this. It's serious.

It's closer to 6% in my state.

Jesus, in what hellhole do you live?

Current numbers from WHO via Arcgis

173.344 confirmed cases
7.019 deaths

Ratio: appr. 0,04 or 4% currently worldwide

Don't get panicked by all the fake news spread by people who want to make a profit of this flu.

Also keep in mind that 3rd world countries and/or countries with a high amount of seniors are hit much harder than countries with working healthcare and lots of younger people. So - even this 4% ratio does not mean that 4% of the US population might die, this is nonsense.

But it is definitely a VERY difficult situation at work. And no, no home office for me, this is unfortunately impossible. But we will get the job done, this is BY FAR not the end of the world.

Oh, and please also keep in mind that A LOT of testing is done in first world countries which means that diagnosing COVID-19 happens much more often than e.g. diagnosing a "regular" flu in the last decade because of not as many testing back then for the flu. This also means that numbers are higher for COVID-19 but the numbers for infections and or mortality in relation to the "regular" flu have often NOT been diagnosed. Also, in 3rd world countries there is no or almost no testing which means that the numbers there are much lower than they potentially are.

Statistics and numbers are always something to be looked at with not one, but plenty of grains of salt. A lot are not perfect, but at least helpful. It is really tricky.

Stop the misinformation.

You're comparing how many people have had it to how many died. Currently, there are about 7 billion humans alive. 100 billion total have lived, with 93 billion dying. Does that mean 7% of humans are immune to death, or only that many are still in the journey and shouldn't be included in the stats?

Not to mention, the US is one of the countries with the most seniors.

For someone crying about fake news, your facts are pretty incorrect.

Beamer - this information is straight from the WHO. What you are saying is actually pretty telling about yourself. Yes, a mortality rate is difficult to to calculate. But calculating with 100 billion people is... I'll stop right there. I know it makes no sense talking with people who call WHO and other official news "fake news". They are a lost case.
