We were at a Wal-Mart Super Center parking lot and it was overflowing with people. Yes people cheered, I kissed my wife, there was a fog horn blowing. It was an amazing experience.
But yes along with being at a Wal-Mart packing lot you can imagine what we saw. Some of witch I still can't unsee lol.

We found a room about an hour from totality at the Mall of Georgia. Will be heading out tomorrow then getting up very early Monday to find a spot to watch the event. It is amazing that in just 8 miles the difference is 47 seconds of totality to 2min 30 sec of totality.
Most importantly the weather is predicted to be close to perfect for viewing as far as cloud cover. My biggest worry is how to get around due to traffic.

Here are a couple of bleak options for you. For readers try Alas, Babylon. It's old but paints a very bleak picture. As for movies try Testament. That still gives me nightmares to this day.

I liked season 2 as well as hard to follow as it was. Didn't help season 1 was as great as it was.
