You can play through the original Half-Life campaign in Sven Co-op even if you don't own Half-Life. Half-Life: Uplink is included, too. You can also install support for Opposing Force or Blue Shift if you own the original games, though the team is working on a better install method for the Steam version.

Over 1000 custom maps, many of which are basically small mods in themselves (competitive maps, tower defence maps, cartoon maps etc.), are also available.

Thanks for that. Now I'm sitting here, part of me is saying there's a week to go until my pre-order arrives and as I've already paid for the game it's ethical to download a pirate copy. Nothing like a moral quandary to while away the next week.
No, it isn't ethical - whilst you've paid for it, the 450,000 leechers you're feeding from and seeding too likely haven't. That makes you part of the problem.
Indeed. If he seeds over 1:1, he may shave entire minutes off someone else's illegal download.

kAMIKAZE just released an unofficial hack for the SteamDrv.sys file which fixes the ZoneAlarm crash. There's a side-effect, but it works - more information here:

If only this press release was about a Myst movie being made. I never liked the gameplay in Myst but the only that kept me coming back was the story.

Count your blessings... it could have been a press release about a Myst movie being made by Uwe Boll!

We'd do it for them :). With access to the map source, it'd be /easy/ (in comparison to what we have to go through currently, at least).

Re: Vehicles: We'll be adding multi-seated vehicles, but most likely not in the first release (to enable us to release sooner).

Re: Jedi Outcast co-op: As Sniper mentioned, you've got the wrong people. We've always been a Half-Life mod. The only other game we've seriously thought about converting was going to be a paid project, and was cancelled only because the deal went sour.

Mad Max: The first version of Sven Co-op for Half-Life 1 was released on the 19th of January, 1999. Check the HL release date in comparison to that (and consider that the SDK was not available for some time after the game's release). Admittedly, that didn't include support for the SP storyline (this was added later)... but then, I was the only team member at that stage.

Umm, over one year ago, a few months before the HL2 release date (30 September 2003).

Afraid a while after our talks with them, the Valve team became busier and busier until we didn't hear from them anymore. Full Steam support for Sven Co-op (with automatic updates and such) was constantly delayed, and in the end, presumably forgotten (the same goes for Natural Selection, who were also promised Steam support).

As a result, we're getting the SDK at the same time as everyone else. (Hopefully soon).

Yup, the interviews/etc. are just in the time leading up to the release. The Sven Co-op interview starts at 9PM PST.

Taulin: Sounds as if you played the Valve SP maps without the SP support update correctly installed.

Still, support for Half-Life's single-player missions is, of course, imperfect seeing as we don't have access to the map source and the maps were never intended for co-operative play. It simply allows you and your friends to play through the maps in the most complete and hassle-free way available.

The main point of Sven Co-op is its hundreds (literally) of specially-made co-operative missions, ranging from HL-universe maps set in Black Mesa to military-themed maps such as the WW2-erra AfrikaKorps (with suitable weapons for the time period and nazis to fight), on to missions where the players are adventurers gaining experience in a medieval RPG, or unlikely superheroes in a cartoon world.
