I am not going to read all 315+ comments in this thread, i don't have the time nor the patience to read so many idiots bitching.

I don't know about you guys, but when i played Diablo II 99% of the time it was online. Therefore, the always on DRM won't bother me here. You beat the game once or twice on single player and then go co-op the rest of the time. I can't imagine people wanting to play the game over and over in single player only.

In general i do not like online DRM but in this case, it won't be any different than Diablo II was for me. If it curtails dupes and character hacking, i'm all for it. The problem with online DRM comes from when they use it in SP *only* games. What do you think WoW is? OMG, that has online DRM!

I can log into Diablo II right now and see over 50k still online playing it. The vast majority of people (myself included) are buying D3 for the online experience.

Idiots...

I bought Civ V because it was on sale for 66% off. I played it for 6 hours straight... needless to say it's an awesome game for those who like that type of game. I like a LOT more than i did Civ IV which always felt "off" somehow.

I don't know how quickly this'll get buried once Blue updates with Sunday's news but on the new sales on Steam today, i can't click on GTA IV or Assassins Creed. Just tells me "Sorry, but you're not permitted to view these materials at this time." wtf?

I bought 3 games from Steam today... even though i told myself earlier this week that i was too poor to buy anything until next paycheck after treating myself to a shiny new Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (awesome gadget btw).

Terreria for $2.50
Neverwinter Night 2 Platinum for $6.50
X3 Gold for $6.50

So for the price of a half decent lunch i could have potentially several hundred hours of quality gaming ahead of me!

If you think you might be interested in this game, try the demo. I read all the negative comments here and almost deleted the demo without trying it. It's actually pretty fun! Don't let all the negativity around here sway you from at least trying it.

I have a brand new motherboard with a "good" onboard sound chip, but guess what? 99% of onboard chips with optical or other digital outs can not output more than stereo in digital format. They downmix it to stereo. My current motherboard does this. Hence, i use my now aging X-Fi XtremeMusic (was only available for a short period after the x-fi brand was introduced). It's the only way i can get 5.1 audio from digital.

Hope it turns out better than my ribs! Apparently something happened to the temp control and things got WAY hotter than they were supposed to. I was hoping to do them at 225-230F for 4-5 hours. I checked in on them at 1 hour and the temp was over 320F and half of them were burnt to a crisp. I almost cried...

I love companies that do this kind of stuff. They just earned a sale from me without me even reading any reviews.

I forgot to post yesterday that yesterday was exactly 10 years since I signed up on Blues! Wow that's a long time and doesn't seem possible. I know I don't have as many posts as others that have been here 10+ years but I still visit the site at least 5-6 times a week if not more.

Grats on 10 years... I've got you beat by several months and not only did I forget to mention my 10 year anniversary, I totally had no idea I'd even been signed up that long! Btw, I only have 20 some odd more posts than you. Bluesnews.com has been my homepage for more than 12 years (I remember it being Blue's Quake Rag!) so I visit it at least 10 times a day if not more.

edit: Now I feel stupid for decoding that binary on page 9.

I wouldn't have even really noticed it without you saying that. I decoded it myself and should have known what it was going to say!

Of course The cake is a lie!

13 / 22

Many of the weapon names were used in Diablo II (even if somewhat inaccurately).

I got 12/22 and Diablo II is the only reason why.

OnLive says a game they selling through their service has limited supplies? Is that supposed to make people buy it? ROFL.

What a joke.

The game isn't limited, the console is. When you pre-order homefront, you get the console free.

I would never ever use iBuyPower or CyberPower. This comes from someone who's spent the last 15 years building computers and seeing "boutique" stores overcharge and under-deliver. If you can't (or won't) build the PC yourself, get a Dell.

imagine doing a 4 player co-op mission straight from the Aliens movie. Welding doors shut, setting up defenses etc.

No shit, that would be fucking intense. Give it to Valve and let them do it L4D style, with crescendos and whatnot. Alien Swarm is already basically the exact game we need, it just needs to be an FPS.

You can change Alien Swarm to first person mode.

News Comments > New Steam Hardware & Software Survey
13. Re: New Steam Hardware & Software Survey Jan 4, 2011, 07:11 Efflixi

The biggest difference won't necessarily be performance unless you're using very intensive programs/games. However, your 4GB is NOT being fully utilized because a 32bit OS can only use 4GB max (since Vista, the OS can see more, but can NOT use it) and part of this RAM must be reserved for the system meaning none of your applications can touch it. Generally you have about 3.25GB to use in a 32bit OS.

There is another thing to consider when running Windows apps as well, Windows imparts a 2GB memory limit on 32bit apps by default. (this can be changed though at the cost of stability most of the time). So even if you were to use a 64bit OS, if you are running 32bit apps they'll never use more than 2GB anyway. Keep that in mind when gaming. Even today, most games are 32bit.

I lost my own father earlier this year. Although the circumstances were completely different (and i won't go into them), i know how you are feeling right now. I am sorry for your loss. I don't know if you are religious or not so i can't say anything for that part, but at least take consolation in the fact that he's not suffering anymore. I think i speak for most of your community here when i say that we wont mind the news being disrupted for this.
