Maybe NYC will be both a city and a tropical island, thanks to global warming.

But even with just a city, if one can go at the top of the skyscrapers and have a highly detailed view of NYC and not just cube with low-def texture, it can be quite a graphical feat.

I'm sorry but having to install a copy protection in a demo that everyone is free to install anywhere and use anytime, it's just plain stupid.

I don't see *any* advantage at having it for a demo. It's just a waste of computer resources, a potential source of instability in Windows and a potential source of conflict with other applications.
For a full game, this can be acceptable depending of your view points about piracy and all. But it's definitely not for a f***ing demo.

I didn't have any anything against installing StarForce with Splinter Cell. I didn't like it as a matter of principle but I still installed it.
However I do have issues with installing for a demo. So as soon as I saw StarForce when I wanted to start the demo, I uninstall it, without trying the game. They just lost a potential customer.

I feel like bringing her to the hospital because several bees stung her on the lips... or she has some kind of bad allergy to her lipstick...

I fail to see the implication of testing a patch and distributing it.
Steam or not Steam, I would prefer a patch that has been tested properply. And I have no guarantee that exe/zip patches are better tested than Steams one.
Actually what I prefer is small tested patches. That way, if one patch fails, it still possible to have the other bugs fixed and the other new features installed. And small patches are easier to manage with Steam than with exe/zip.

Hmm, forgot that Vivendi was french. And I agree that Vivendi is a slimey company. And that other French CEO is a bastard too.
Now saying that the french are bad because of that is quite a step. Afterall, the RIAA and MPAA are mostly americans and I don't think they are better than Vivendi. And America is the reference for fuck-everybody-I-just-want-all-the-money system, aka capitalism.
What is the word for "worse than a bastard" then?

Can it be done using tiles, while keeping the tiles to a simple, understandable shape and pattern? Tiles are fundemental to Civ beyond things like unit movement - city resources rely on them for example
There is a long time since I've played Civ but I don't think tiles are really necessary. RTS were tile based at first but now there are not anymore and still work well.
So in Civ, maybe cities could use a circular zone around them which will be divided like pieces in a pie. Or they could still uses tiles with the tiles not being aligned between two cities.
The biggest issue is build roadways and railways. Especially that when you build them in a tile, they automatically link to all neighborhood tiles already built.

So many games either dump you back at the main menu, or force you to refresh the entire list again
Not counting those that reset what column is used for sorting. I don't care what the servers that start with "###" are, I want to see the servers that have the most players or the best ping.

Wait until you see the next demo. If there are real improvments, then yes, it's probably an old demo. If it's just the same demo but a bit more stable, then they probably lied.

But, having played the demo and see how bad and buggy it is, I would tend to believe them.

Also, if this "shtick" is used so often, maybe it's because editors realize that they can get away with releasing betas.

MajorGeeks, if you have a better way to stop the exclusive demo thing, please, do tell us.
What 3D Gamers and others do is just what americans are so fond of: boycotting. A strike (french are fond of this one) is the same kind of thing. Tell people that boycotting and going on strike is a bad idea...

No, it sounds like the big brother of the Z-80. Maybe it's a Z-80 running at 64Mhz

I don't see why having HL2 coming soon prevents you from buying Halo too. I'm looking forward to play both games!

My bandwidth is limited so I can afford only 2 uploads at 12KB/s each but that's a start (and I'm behind a firewall so only push requests will work).
