I am sick of reading that headline. The girl was on her
3rd heart and 3rd lung. Count (original, new, new new). Imagine how YOU would be feeling after someone yanked your heart out and popped another in from someone who died in a car wreck.

The steam 2.0 cache? If it is so easy to access, why don't you bundle up the upgrade files and post them in alt.binaries?
The point is Valve doesn't want you to be able to do what you said, and have taken measures in Steam to make that difficult. I guess copying a whole install over to another machine might work. Will have to try that. But again, that's not the point. Their wonderful distributed system of file distribution is garbage when you compare it to FTP, but allows them total control over the users. Which is why nobody is playing 1.6.
