I wonder if Carmack realises there's still a large user base running V3's at this point. Hell, there's still a large user base running the Voodoo 2 (believe it or not.) I didn't buy my "top of the line" GeForce 256 that long ago, and its already obsolete If Carmack wants to buy my new video card for me, I'll be more than happy to buy his new game
I may offend a ton of people with this statement- but PC game developers have gotten lazy. In the old Atari days, they'd squeeze performance out of the machine that no one thought was possible. Hell, they squeezed performance out of the original Playstation console that no one thought was possible.
Hmmmm- I wonder how long after the X-box's release it will be before Micro$oft puts out the "X-box graphics upgrade card" or the "X-box 2"; they don't strike me as the sort of company that will do away with Planned Obsolesence on their console end.

Well, I guess if it's the only way to go, we'll have to deal with the ads. I for one won't pay for a subscription to Blues News- I love the site, but I'm broke However if you do run ads, leave the sound off; when we're browsing at work on our 15 minute breaks, we'd rather not alert the rest of the office. Also, I'm not too thrilled about large flash banners- I do have to connect from a 56k at home, and I'd rather not deal with that extra data sucking at my bandwidth.
I guess the pop-up ads are a necessary evil. The ones that really annoy me though are the corporate sites which throw up some pop-up ads as well- hell, they get revenue from other sources, they shouldn't be annoying me with pop-ups as well; and, if I'm already on their site, they've got my attention. They don't need to waste my time with additional pop-ups for their own products.

Hey- I know how the world works, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. Rebel against the institution! Anarchy now!

And I claim "I". All attempts to use the first person noun will have to pay a licensing fee to me. Since "I" can also be used in words, you will now have to substitute "!" in any and all circumstances.

So get used to talk!ng l!ke th!s from now on. By the way, you can stop us!ng "E" as well; as soon as my !P b!d on the f!fth letter clears, you'll have to use "@" unl@ss you want a lawsu!t slapp@d on you.

Just so @v@ryon@ can s@@ how th!s l!n@ of th!nk!ng, tak@n to th@ @xtr@m@, b@com@s tr@m@ndously s!lly. "Jell-O" and "zipper" w@r@ mad@ up words, and @nt!r@ly trad@markabl@. "Diablo" !s not, and should not b@.

Yeah, I figured out to rename it myself. But still, it's rather bad planning for them to use a period in the filename itself.

If anything I need more caffeine right now... gotta love ADD

Well, similiar to Blizzard, I just trademarked the term Blue. So, you all can either close down this site (since it has Blue in the name) or pay me some licensing fees... j/k However, according to Blizzard, New Line can't use "El Diablo" either (coz it has Diablo in it) or "The Revenge of the Diablo", or "Diablo: The Movie, not the Video Game by Blizzard", or anything with the word Diablo in it.

Seriously, though, this has reached the point of idiocy. Like Betty Crocker suing a bunch of Silicon Valley techies over their use of the term "Bake-off". Words are free! Let them remain that way!

Their patch mirror requires me to sign up with GameSpy... WTF is up with that?! We need some alternate mirrors.

After edit-...
Ack, I spend a friggin hour and a half downloading that file (and waiting on their server) only to try to open it- and get a message "Which program would you like to use to open .100 files?" and a bunch of zip errors when I try to open it manually!

Incompetent morons! Now I'm really pissed off.

"All your language are belong to us!" I like that part about including Bill Gate's picture but not JFK's... typical
And the fish thing is interesting- as far as I was aware, Pacu are vegetarian, so they shouldn't be biting off anyone's private parts...

The patch is way too late- I've stopped playing B&W already, so it won't matter for me that it's patched... Kinda like the last Ultima patch- too little, way too late.

The Besk would have been a Godsend for me last month- finaling code, sleeping on a couch in a back office. I got charlie-horses from hell because I had to sleep with bent legs (the armrests were in the way.)

I still don't like anonymous posting, even with the "Ignore Anonymous Posts" option flagged; they create "echos"- non-anonymous users tend to respond to the anonymous posts anyway, so natural curiosity means I'm constantly refreshing the board with the option off, and wading through the sewage...
If you're too scared to put even a fake identity behind a post, should you really be posting?

Oh- one more thing before I crawl back into my hole... Do we really want to encourage the use of emoticons? I think I liked it better when this was an emoticon-free zone
