Can I be the first one to suggest not using IE but one of the many fine alternative that exist ?

That is unless you are trying to view sites that need IE to display properly.

Bleh, looks like it was alot more successful than Google anticipated, the beta has been temporarily closed. I had alot of fun playing it with last night but can't download the client onto another PC this morning.

Enjoy the A/C, it's meant to be in the upper 80s/lower 90s as of tomorrow.

I'm kinda curious though, where would you be able to get a 240V appliance in the US ? Coming from the UK, I pretty much had to sell all my electronic gear (well that was my excuse to buy a new PC anyway )

I have a suspicion with the stuttering. My guess is that it's caused by the sound, not the graphics. I noticed that I received a small stutter when firing the stationary heat seekers. Everything else was perfect. Based on the earlier BF1942 that had issues with sound, try turning off EAX and see if that helps.

Played it and had alot of fun. Those claymores are nasty little mothers, place a few around your sniper spot and camp away

The only downside is that you cannot bind the PgUP/PgDown/End/Home/Ins/Del keys, they seem to be locked to commander functions, e.g. ack/nak and so on. As I use the arrowkeys (I'm a leftie) I used to have those bound to various functios in DC like enter vehicle. I'm sure I'll get over it but it's a nuisance.

I spent a very nice couple of weeks in Stockholm last month; the food was good, the beer was excellent (better than the brown water they pass off as alcohol over here), the schnapps/aquavit was to die for and I don't think I saw an ugly women during my entire trip. I loved the old town and had fun going around the archipelego.

Yes it is expensive compared to the US and the taxes are higher but did I mention that the women more than make up for that ?

If it's only the one room and it has the normal sash windows then Sears do single room, low BTU air conditioners for $100 or so.

We bought 2 last year, one for each of the bedrooms and they work a treat.

Which Stew Leonards ? I haven't been to the one in Yonkers but the original in Danbury sells some damn fine food - their fruit pies are extremely yummy. Of course, the displays whilst kind of tacky still enthrall the youngsters enough that you can shop in relative quiet.

Bring back Babylon 5 - or at the very least resurrect the PC game.

BSG - I watch some of the series in the UK when I was there for a couple of weeks and it just gets better. (IMO both the Cylon chicks are hot)

ST:E - I started to watch it and really liked it but then missed a couple and never got back into it.

SG-1:SG-A - Meh.... m.e.h.

EDIT: I'm waiting for more information but I have pretty good hopes for Doctor Who's comeback. Lets face it anything has to be better than the last "movie" they made.

I guess it depends if they mean the magentic pole or the physical location ? The "north pole" is actually not land at all but permaice. Thus it is relatively free to move around.

The magnetic pole moves as the mass of the Earth redistributes itself. Obviously if something as violent as the recent earthquake occurs significant change in the earth's structure occurs to move the magnetic pole.

Wierd factoid for the day: According to the geological record the north and south poles have been swapping periodically. No one is entirely sure of the process or the effect this would have on life on earth when this next happens again.

If you already have a video card that you want to keep then what you need is a seperate video capture card that goes in a PCI slot (or even a firewire/USB 2 external module).

That way you can configure incoming video feeds from cable TV or other sources to use the capture card but still use your AGP video card for display out.

It's probably going to be a bit cheaper that buying an AIW card with the extra display function that you wont need.

Look through www.newegg.com 's catalogue under the catagory video device and add on. I'd link it but the boards don't like extremely long URLs.

I tried searching and couldn't find anything so here goes. If you've finished HL2 and are bored of CS:S or waiting for a decent mod to come along then try this for a few kicks

http://www.garry.tv/garrysmod/

From the site the features of this mod are...
* Ragdoll Poser (First for a mod ever?)
* Rope objects and people together
* Weld objects and people together
* Add motorized wheels and control their speed
* Place a camera and watch it on your HUD
* Shoot 100's of props out of your RPG
* Attach manhacks and scanners to objects and corpses

Some of my more retarded online friends started playing with it, the results of which can be found here.

I read Dan's Data religously and I love the writeups they do on this stuff. Sometimes I shake my head in wonder that people will actually buy this stuff. I guess snake oil salesmen exist in different guises in every generation.

PS I wonder how much that tracked buggy would cost to buy and where I can get one from ? Looks like alot of fun.

There's defintiely something going around the Westchester/Putnam area. Half of my office in White Plains are off with "strep throat", although I'm sure people use the term when they don't really have the condition. The other half are off with bad D 'n V. Those people that have gone to the doctor have been told it's viral and it seems to be hitting people in different ways.

Both kids were ill over the weekend (sick twins is not something you want to deal with too often) and my wife was feeling out of sorts this morning too. I'm figuring I'll probably succumb Friday night or Saturday morning

I actually ripped out my programmable thermostats and replaced with an "old fashioned" circular one. The main reason was that the batteries kept running flat and leaving us with no heat at all during the winter season.

I admit the digital ones were old and probably defective but I prefer a simple dial that I can instantly change with one hand (the other is usually occupied with a child). Since there is someone at the house 24/7 and we have young kids I don't really need the timer function.

Hay idiots! If you don't hit your brakes or make any sudden movements, it is no different than dry pavement!!!!

Hear, effing, hear. Spent two hours in traffic on what is normally a 45 minute commute. Didn't see the speedo needle move much at all.

The only additional problem was the blustery winds would cause the rediculously oversized SUVs to swerve as the soccer moms paniced.
