So rather than teams with a disproportionate number of medics (I remember 5 of 12 on multiple occasions), we'll now have a stupid number of Pyros? Great.

I have mixed feelings about these achievements, as they tend to encourage selfish behavior, and I'd much prefer something more team-oriented.

Majesty was always a strange hybrid between a god-sim and an RTS. I loved the base game, and the expansion pack made it that much better.

When Cyberlore collapsed I was sorry to see the Majesty 2 plans go down with them. I hope that Paradox has some of the original team onboard.

I was hoping for $199, but I'm pleased to see Wii Sports bundled with the North American release. I'm going to buy a Wii because when I was a kid I had an Atari 2600, and then a SNES, and I want my kid to have that sort of fun. Fun is a commodity that the XBox 360 and the PS3 seem to be ignoring (esp. for the under 10 set).

(plus, Excite Truck looks like fun.)

I'm happy to wait for a better end-product.

Anyone remember slavering for Black & White? And we all know how that turned out...

The screenshots remind of the arcade part of Space Rangers...

I thought that the arcade portion of Space Rangers 2 reminded people of Subspace.

Are you saying that this game looks like Subspace?

I'm glad to finally see Blue link to a review of Space Rangers 2. I've been playing this game for a couple of weeks now, and I'm really sucked in. Stupid name, but good innards. Anyone who enjoyed Elite or Freelancer should take a look.

Gosh, I'm all sorry that someone has now associated Spore and Black & White.

I was all ga-ga over Black & White, until I plunked down my hard-earned cash and played the darn thing. Ick.

Now here I am in a tizzy about Spore, very excited about it, and you have to go and remind me what B&W turned out to be.

Could Spore be just as disappointing as Black & White? It hurts to think about it. Ick.

I was real interested in this one, as the whole fantasy-MMO thing just doesn't do much for me. (I'm a Sci Fi geek.)

I got into the Beta some months ago, and didn't find too much to love, sadly. I know they did a major overhaul, and hopefully it addressed the problems, but I found the Quest system frustrating and the Loot system way too fiddly.

Turned based games have a lot of tension in them.

There's nothing quite like that moment when your soldier rounds the corner with only a few action points left to find three guys staring down at him, weapons at the ready.

But it's certainly designed for the patient.

I pre-ordered this, and I'm not disappointed. Light, fun game, with lots of replay value. Well worth the money.

I hope the demo gets them some sales.

I got bored and dropped out of COH after a while, but I've been pleasantly surprised with COV thus far. I'd recommend it to people who liked COH in the first place.

I think given the right "engine" we have the horsepower now to do it, even if its not the entire universe..even a system of planets you could venture onto would be cool using a procedural terrain/city generation..but you know I'd be willing to sacrifice graphics quality if it meant we could really go anywhere. Ah well!

Have you looked at Spore, by Will Wright?

He might have what you are looking for.

The date that has been kicking around is 31 October, although I haven't seen that date recently. I'm sure it'll be out by late November.

What exactly is wrong with a scholarship targeted at encouraging minority kids to go into computer programming?

Sheesh. Some people...

I'm just happy to see the EA settled with their ex-employees. Sounds like they were really taken advantage of.

After Black & White shipped some two years late, I still have a bad taste in my mouth from the awful gameplay. It remains the most overhyped game ever.

Suffice to say, I'm not buying Black & White 2. They burned their bridges into my wallet.

Some friends of mine loaned me their Firefly DVD box set, and having seen a couple of episodes when it was on the air (back in 2002?), I was eager to watch it in order, commercial-free.

I asked my wife if she wanted to watch it one night, and she told me that she was not interested in "another TV show about a bunch of people in a spaceship". I told her that she would be interested because it wasn't a sci-fi show about Space, but that it was a Western. "Similar to a Western, you mean?" "No, no, it's pretty much just a Western. They have six-shooters, are on the run from the law, have a preacher and a whore on board, the whole bit." "Well...," she said, "maybe I'll just watch the first episode."

Now she's completely hooked. We spent many nights watching the DVDs, often watching "just one more episode", and now we're all psyched about seeing the movie.

Looking forward to Serenity. It's at 80% on Rottentomatoes, so I think we'll be happy.

Did anyone read "Masters of Doom", the book that talked about the nacent days if id Software? It was really interesting, and it talked some about the whole Ion Storm debacle. Simply put, it was a management nightmare. Romero had no experience managing a project of that size, and they spent money like it was going out of style on a game that could never live up to the hype. Pretty depressing, really.

But I'm a positive thinking guy, I think that somewhere in Romero's head is another good game, and if he gets with a good team, it could happen. (I'm not holding my breath, though.)
