Every time that I end up as the host, everyone shouts at me to quit.
Obviously IWNet works far better than just having a reliable dedicated host, so it's been a great idea to reinvent the wheel and then throw out the original design. |

I was in a server where there was a helicoper overhead, aimbotting at everyone that spawned. I can't see that happening in dedicated armies.

I remember discovering a portal hub at the bottom of a dungeon during beta (after waiting a few levels so that I'd survive the drop).
Still the best moment of exploration I've ever had in a game... |

I bought it reduced for the 360 (not second hand), mostly because I really want them to make a sequel for a game with a concept as cool as this.
Replayability is pretty terrible (really? a parkour game [about freedom of movement] where I can't make my own races or anything?) and a few of those single player levels have fiendishly bad level design where you're being shot and have no idea where to go. On the other hand, I enjoyed most of the game a lot. The least enjoyable bits always seemed to coincide with bits where you were almost forced to brave the fighting system.
800 points for more Time Trial maps is a complete no-sale for me though. It seems like DICE are completely misunderstanding how people's (or just my) perception of the value of a short single player game with rudimentary multiplayer is changing (imo). Save $10 a few times and you can buy L4D on Steam, which is almost infinitely more replayable and fun to play with friends... or more songs for rockband.
PS. stop requiring an email address and EA account for frikkin time trials, when I have an XBLA account and that should be plenty. I found that really annoying, and it almost stopped me trying that feature completely. |

You can't bemoan the fact that people make $30 million+ games on one hand, and not care that WoG made more than a satisfactory return on investment when they're one developer that doesn't.
If you want people to make more good games that aren't $30 million 'blockbusters', then there has to be an economic incentive for people to do so, and breaking even isn't it.
I'm all for smaller, cheaper, games with high production quality, but that means that companies making games like that need to see a good profit, which means people need to stop pirating the shit out of them and pay them for their effort, especially when they do all the "right" things. |
