I don't disagree that the screenshots should be just that, but I do wonder what Valve is up to with the comment...
Additionally, we’re going to start showing game screenshots in more places as described above, and these images need to be able to represent the game.

This doesn't surprise me, but do you have any links?

No, I'm not a corporatist shill, I just have issues with middle men making bank while the people on either side get fucked.

Here's a couple links, though I didn't bother doing any further research into their legitimacy, because to be honest, I really don't care that much.
I've seen dozens of articles over the last few years all saying much the same thing. Perhaps it's bullshit since nobody is going to say how much they're really making from royalties.
Either way, here you go.

I'm confused as to what they're saying. On one hand, they want to freeload off the work of a *only* successful companies, but on the other they want an end to "freeloading".

Do you not understand what a royalty is, or are you being willfully dense to point out what you perceive as a contradiction?

I have no problem with voice actors being paid royalties, but I also have no idea what is standard practice for this line of work, which would determine whether or not this is an appropriate ask.

There's no perception of a contradiction, it is a complete contradiction.
Anyone asking for royalties is asking to freeload forever on a piece of paid labour. There are very few jobs where royalties are a thing, and as far as I'm concerned, that very few is still way too many.

You do a job, you get paid, you go home and feed the family for a day. Need more money, then how about you get another job.

How would you be, if you had your local plumber stop in once a year to take a royalty payment for fixing a tap a decade ago. Next day, the concreter shows up, and he wants his royalty for laying the slab on your house. Day after, the 2 builders and electrician show up etc...

Royalties are bullshit. On top of that, the firms that take the royalty payments for distribution take their cut and often times the actual royalties paid out to an 'actor' are considerably smaller than those paid to the management firm in control of receiving the payments.

It's a fucking scam, just like the unions and guilds that push for it.

Oh look here is another guy who doesn't get it. None of what you wrote there has any basis in reality. A music record, is not the same thing as fucking concrete. A piece of music can be played and reproduced theoretically forever. You don't make a piece of concrete that can be used to lay foundations for every house on the planet now do you? NO. You need, here it comes, MORE concrete!

Actually, what you don't get is the bit where a job is done, and the employee was paid for it.
You do a job. You get paid. End of contract.

There's nothing stopping the actors from asking for more up front if they see more value in their work. The problem, as stated in this article is that they want more should their employer see some financial success from their work.

Here's another idea. Negative royalties, where the actors have to pay the employer when the entire game/movie/music is a flop. Ongoing royalties, until forever, because reasons.

I don't play the game, I just wanted to comment on Blizzards need to constantly "balance" every little thing, and how they tend to screw everything else just to fix a small balance issue.

A cognitive bias refers to a systematic pattern of deviation from norm or rationality in judgment, whereby inferences about other people and situations may be drawn in an illogical fashion. Individuals create their own "subjective social reality" from their perception of the input.

Alpha 15 just out, so it's a great time to get into it. Not only can you harvest skin and organs from your enemy, but you can get your own guys addicted to a whole bunch of new drugs too!

There are some good mods out already, although most will need to be updated for the new version. So there is plenty of replayability.
Unlike another game selling for $60, where each new planet is the same replaying of the last one.

I've had this game for quite some time now. I'd say it is one of the best games to capture some of the brilliance of Dwarf Fortress in a way that just can't be done by most games.

The modding community is pretty solid, with some great mods to further enhance the game. Add to that, some reasonable youtubers doing lets plays and such, which can really help when you're new.

Two thumbs up from me, and I'm glad the game will get a lot more exposure now.

Great!! Now we've got politics shitting up the gaming community.

Why couldn't they choose youtube-red instead? Or perhaps redtube, since the government generally wants to just fuck the populace anyway.

I really don't get all the hate on Valve for this.

They provide a service.
It was the third party sites abusing that service and going against the generic terms of that service to which all of this has occurred.

It's kind of like blaming a car manufacturer because you saw someone run a red light in a car made by said company.
Next thing you'll see is car manufacturers being forced to cancel the sale contract and revoke your car because you got busted speeding.

I was jut looking at reviews for a game a day or so back and they were all mostly about how bad launch and such had been. Took ages to find some current reviews that seemed somewhat unbiased.

I look forward to these changes in a hope that they do start to express what the game state is currently rather than how shit it might have been 12 months ago.
