So "Counter-Strike: Source" the remake of a mod from a game nearly a decade old is selling as well as the current generations 'WoW' killing mmorpg?

So killing people in Borderlands is just fine, but killing zombies in L4D2 is not? Mmmkay Australia is fucked up.

Some companies submit an entire RTM type version of a game for classification, others don't.
We all know what honesty bring us now don't we?

I think they should keep the old system, simply because it is so simple and is tested and proven.

I wonder if he mentions anything about reskinning the same game that's been around for ten years, and whether that has anything to do with peoples desire to spend $50 on what some other companies would release as free DLC?

There is a whole lot more to piracy than joe average downloading anything he feels like. It seems to be that the same companies complain about it, and they're the same companies producing the same shit over and over.
People will buy full games, but most won't pay full price for horse armour.

@Prez, the price for valve games in AU seems to be converted from the US price rather than having the $AU slapped in the front.
After conversion this is typically 20-30% lower than the typical price for a game here. (Store price is about $90-$100)

Some of the EA/THQ games on steam actually have the price adjusted to $AU which bumps it back up to about 5% lower than the normal store price.

I just wanted to explain that because of the fluctuating exchange prices that even when they are down (which they are for us as the moment) I can still buy Valve games on steam for less than I can in a store.

I was just playing GTAiv on my PS3 yesterday, and it doesn't look anywhere as shit as those images do. However, I did need to adjust the brightness in game, since night-time was pitch black and impossible to see anything.
I have no doubt it would look much much better on the PC, but for me it's one of those games where a reclining lounge chair just fits.

I think Gamespot is still pandering to the masses of 360 fanboys, although it was nice to see the PC gamers stand up and say "lol" to the consoles in this instance.

I can't see anything useful coming out of this. Everything Microsoft has done involving anything related to the internet has been grossly bloated crap.
When it comes to an interface between you and your games it needs to be tight and mostly fluff free. Steam has more or less achieved this.
Microsoft could not.

I bought this game a few days back, and with my brother in town for a short time we got to play some multiplayer together without activating it on the second machine.
After the first day it did come up saying it had expired, but given they allow for 2 activations, I just used the same key on the second machine and away we went again. (This is actually noted in the manual as well)

I'm probably going to be screwed come reinstall time, but what the hell. It's a great game that plays out really well.

My only gripe with the game is the view distance is kinda limted. Oh, and my huge summoned helper turned on the party and started killing us

I'm guessing they get first access because that's the time that new updates go live?

If that's the case however, why they wouldn't release the steam version at the same time I don't know.

For what it's worth the second part of a root canal I had done recently was the less traumatic part.
Session one involved most of the de-rooting, where as the second visit was somewhat of a cleaning and final de-rooting, by which time the tooth no longer had any feeling anyway.
The most traumatic part of it all is paying the bill.

No they don't want you to have the mod tools because they want to sell "horse armor" expansion packs.

That's about it I think.

Modders could well be considered 'developers' and most of them don't give two shits about documentation as long as that majority of it is somewhat intuitive.

I've been playing for a few days, and I'd have to say that I'm not wowed by the game.

Granted it has some nice features, and the PvP is decent.
Graphics wise it sucks ass though, and the animations are poor. AoC set the bar pretty high with graphics.

The 2 things that bother me most about the game however are the 2x EULA agreements everytime you log in, and when logging out, there is no sit animation, and only a couple messages that actually let you know you're logging out.

We had the most populated oceanic server crash yesterday under load, so I started on less populated server.
There is lag, it's just hard to notice it initially, but once it's there things are popping all over the place and I haven't found an ingame netgraph type tool to check the latency either.

I got a few different chars up to the low teens, but found it starts to get into a bit of a grind as usual.

Overall, I'd give it a 7.5/10. I'll recommend it to anyone that asks, but I don't see them pulling too many wow customers until the end game is tried and tested.

Oh, what's up with the lack of crafting skills? They've really dropped the ball on that one, but then again some people don't consider crafting to be a real part of mmorpaguhs.

34% "You're not an oldschool Counter Striker at all. Maybe you're more the Team Fortress type?"

I'm real old school CS though, it's been a bloody long time since I played it.
But it is funny that they mention TF, coz I played far more of that in the Quakeworld days, and now TF2 I'm still clocking up some 15+ hours a week.

Aye voting is compulsory, its a choice between a kick in the balls or a shovel to the face. Either way you vote you lose.

As for the R18+ classification, I expect it will happen in the next year or so. There appears to only be the AG in SA holding it off at the moment.

Still, R18 or not, the price of games here really needs to be looked at. The price point at the moment is still only encouraging piracy for those that don't know how to import or buy online.

Wow. That's sad when imports cost LESS than the local copy.

I went to buy mass effect the other day...

Digital Download US version from the publisher. $49.99
Digital Download AU version from the publisher. $99.95
At the time the AUD v's USD was something like 98c to the dollar.
Needless to say, since I can't download the US version, that's a game I won't be playing for quite some time.

Oh, and back on topic, I'll be importing Fallout 3 also.
