Actually, it's Eidos that's publishing 25 to Life, not Rockstar.

Not to nitpick, but if it's 06/05/04 today, shouldn't we have done the "Blastoff!" thing at (0)3:02:01am?

You'd think by now the publishers wouldn't even mention release dates for DNF, it's such a joke in the gaming community. DNF has had more dates than Paris Hilton.

In their defense, an analyst pinned them down on the conference call and specifically asked about the status of DNF. It happens every quarter. And every quarter, it's my favorite question of the call.

While the article fails to back up any of the points it tries to make, in the interest of fairness we can't call it "bad journalism" as it's an op-ed piece, written by someone who wasn't on staff at the paper. Now why the paper didn't bother to put it in the opinion section is an entirely different question...

What the heck ever happened to Carbon 6? Did it change its name to this Import/Export Co. thing - or is this a new biz for American?

Though I think Alf-Life 2 would be better. Alf owns.

Instead of headcrabs, though, you'd spend the game chasing cats around, trying to eat them!

And the "Ass of the Day" award goes to..............SIERRA!

I suspect Sierra didn't have anything to do with this. It sounds more like the rantings of one guy - who's gonna find Tuesday to be mightywarm, what with all the heat coming down on him from his bosses. I can hear it now:

"You DO realize we're trying to sell the company, right??? Alienating the g$*@#$n customer base is NOT what we want to do right now!!"

Technically, it's not - but it's not being included as part of the ongoing auction. Vivendi's trying to sell it separate.

While the talk so far has focused on D&D games, whatdya think the chances are we could be looking at Fallout 3 here?

Well, the EA games can only be played online on PS2 - so people won't have to pay the XBL fee on top of whatever they charge. Note that I'm NOT defending their actions, just clarifying.

What bugs me is all the resource gathering... I haven't been able to figure out how to create worker units, so I have to keep having my character go to work, come home, go to work, come home... And once he gets a little money saved up, something invariably breaks and he has to spend it on that.

Truth be told, though, I think Will Wright has a gem of a lawsuit here. I mean, it's an obvious rip-off of "The Sims".

It was an annoyance, but in retrospect, we should have simply moved forward a row or two and we would have been fine. We, of course, thought of that after we got out of the film.

I can top that tron...

When I saw the original Matrix, some moron in the next row (four seats to my left - I will *never* forget that guy), took out his cell phone and called a friend. It was one of those moments where the entire surrounding audience was in collective shock that someone could be that rude.

Second oddest experience: Going to see "The Two Towers" last winter and having to listen to a man softly translate the entire film into Chinese for his wife. My wife and I were the only ones who heard him, but we couldn't believe it.

Judge Kent has been a hoot for a long, long time. My personal favorite selection from is his ruling on a change of venue request from Colonial Penn Life Insurance.

"Defendant should be assured that it is not embarking on a three-week-long trip via covered wagons when it travels to Galveston. Rather, Defendant will be pleased to discover that the highway is paved and lighted all the way to Galveston, and thanks to the efforts of this Court's predecessor, Judge Roy Bean, the trip should be free of rustlers, hooligans, or vicious varmints of unsavory kind."

I think the point is that the government doesn't have the right to enforce movie ratings. It's a voluntary effort the theaters take - and which the industry ensures that they take. So, the argument goes, retailers should be the ones enforcing game ratings.

and the ubiquitous "is this patch that makes it fun" comments from yesterday, I offer up this actual quote from the Running With Scissors press release that just landed in my in-box.

"Postal 2 is now 33% more fun!*"

To plagarize Dave Barry, I am not making this up.

"Take2 would be scaling back their E3 presence next year and they are hoping for a Max Payne2 release around January of 2004."

Shacknews does a great job, but they didn't quite get that right. Take Two said the game would come out in the fiscal quarter that ends in January of 2004. So, conceivably, Max Payne 2 could also be released in November or December, which would make a lot more sense for them financially, since it puts the game in the running for holiday shoppers.
