I live on the east coast and work on the west. At home, I have AT&T fibre, with 1Gbit symmetric speeds, but on the west coast (in Silicon Valley, no less) I can only get Comcast—-which offers 1Gb down, but (and I can't stress this point enough) only 30mbit up.
30mbit. Up.
It's painful to use video conferencing software at my apartment there, and when I have to present my screen I'm plagued with stuttering and dropped connections. And file transfers to work servers are impossible, requiring me to drive in to work (defeating the WFH perk we have).
Gimme that damn Google fibre closer to Google's home town. What's the hold-up?
