I remember Requiem. I didn't play the full game, but it also had a really good demo. Fantastic death animations for its time.

Judging from the greyed-out save/load option, I'm assuming quicksaving will be in the full game. At least, I hope so.

You have to buy cards with the gold that you pick up throughout the levels. There are only two cards unlocked at the beginning of the level, but you can apparently unlock more if you complete the levels with a certain victory condition. (Level 1: Use nothing but stakes, Level 2: Don't pick up any armor, Level 3: Haven't beaten it yet. After you have enough gold to buy them, you can click and drag them into the appropriate slots. The health one is always active and goes into one of the two slots on the upper left, while the double damage one is an activated effect and goes into one of the other three slots. You have to bind a key to use it. Think it's E by default.

I'm really looking forward to this game now.

One can only hope that cheaters don't find a way to make this work online. Or maybe Dice just put off releasing this until punkbuster support was added. Still, a cool thing to do, although I rarely play anything but Desert Combat, and that doesn't seem too buggy, aside from the 1.6 scoreboard stuff.

Yes, the downfall of the Crazy Taxi franchise is one of the saddest things in my recent gaming history. The original for the Dreamcast was one of only three games that I never traded back in. 2 traded in the tight controls of the first for huge turning radiuses and mushy responsiveness. I rented High Roller and played it for around 15 minutes before giving up.

It's really too bad, because the first game was fucking incredible.

I'm pretty sure the Radiant Death katana is +12 in my version of the game, but it's +6 here. Weird.

fix the infinite Jedi Power thing I've been having? Like, I'll activate Force Speed, and it'll last forever. Don't see anything about it in the readme.

Not to mention, why would you want to take screenshots? The game looks like it's five years old.

I tried the demo again with that mouselag fix and it's much more playable than it was. Still looks terrible and runs at an unacceptable framerate, but hey, some things are improving.

Still, shipping the demo as it was was a big mistake.

Pretty choptastic for me, but still looks cool. The guys at DiCE make the best promo videos for their games.

I wrote the gamespot guide for KOTOR. It's for the Xbox version, but most of it should still apply.

As for myself, Barton 2500+, 1 gig 2700 RAM, geforce ti4400. And it's absolute ass. Hell, the Doom alpha ran better than this, and looked a LOT nicer while doing so.

At this point, all I think most of us can do is wait for the first big patch. If the shipping product is represented by this demo, then it's not going to be worth the aggravation. Gameplay aside, in terms of performance vs. visuals, this has to be one of the worst games I've ever played. With the way it looks, I would expect my FPS to be in the 60s, easy, and I guess it is, when I'm looking at a wall at point-blank range. The game seems to have some kind of Saving Private Ryan effect where all the colors are bleached out.

Let's not even talk about the mouse performance - having an FPS that responds to input like this is like driving in the Daytona 500 with one of those crippled cars they use to teach teenagers about how it feels to drive drunk.

But hey, if they take their time and skip their gone gold vacation and actually finish the game, then it might be worth buying.

I really can't wait to see what the Penny Arcade guys have to say about this. I'm half-wondering if the guys at Ion Storm are sitting around reading messageboards tonight....

One can only hope for a second attempt from bioware.

I believe that Bioware has already stated that they're pretty much done with Dungeons and Dragons after Neverwinter Nights runs its course.

Um, doesn't the description of the Pale Master say that it adds to your current spellcaster level for every other level you take in the prestige class?

Only for the number of spells you can cast per day, not for earning new spell levels or increasing the power of the spells that you already cast. If you're a tenth level Wizard when you become a Pale Master, then you won't ever be able to access sixth-level wizard spells, unless you take another level in Wizard sometime later on. The DnD rules aren't written this way, but apparently NwN's coding didn't anticipate prestige classes being so popular, and now they apparently can't change it.

It's too bad Bioware can't program in proper prestige classes for spellcasters. (The problem, if I understand it correctly, is that the game can't add to your spellcasting level if you switch into another class, even if it's a prestige class that would usually allow you to keep going on in your spell progression.) Would've made for some great content, but I guess my Wizard will just have to remain a Wizard.
