Has anyone else played a build of this? I played it at E3, and man, that controller is a HUGE hurdle to actually having fun with the game. I'm sure I'd get used to it eventually, but as long as you have Unreal Tournament 2, I can't see too many PC owners bothering to get Championship. I could be wrong, though I for one would need some kind of mouse/keyboard support before I plunked down my dollars. The game looks nice, though.

Edit: But I think it's cool to make sure that they don't gouge people into paying more than the base fees that MS might charge. I have a feeling any game that attempts to set up a pay for play model might be doomed, outside of something like Sega's wide suite of games.

Unless I'm mistaken, the rights to that property are kind of screwy. Whoever the publisher was on 2 owns it, I think. I could be mistaken.

Basically, it was cancelled because...3D is hard? Certainly bodes well for Black Isle's future endeavours.

"ya those ppl just standing there without any awareness Kile(?) is behind me...it's pretty patheic if you ask me"

I believe that wave-of-the-hand thing he does before he blows them up (you can see his force meter going down with each instance) is some kind of Jedi Mind Trick, like Obi-Wan used on the Stormtroopers in Tatooine in Episode 4. The probable sequence of events was that Kyle snuck up behind them, then blinded them to his presence, then placed the charges and ran off to the side without having to worry about them attacking. Not sure, but that seems plausible. At the very least, he's doing something to them that prevents them from reacting.

Let's get ready to fooooorce-choooooke!

The movie has really jazzed me up; the first trailer got me in the anticipatory mood, but this one really got me thinking it could be a classic. All that dancing around, jumping off walls, and flying around seems to me to be much more in the spirit of the Jedi that Lucas seems to be pushing with the Prequels, as opposed to the relatively earthbound antics of Luke and Darth, et al (well, not really et al...it was really just the two of them), in classic SW. So it'll hopefully be a great game.

I just kind of dread those early missions where you're going to have to play through without a lightsaber. You know they'll be there, but I have a feeling the saber will be my weapon of choice for the rest of the game, if the movie is any indication. Can't wait to see what mini-duels are like in multiplayer.

Oh, it had me shaking...my god, I might even venture online for a bit of (high-ping) deathmatch. I haven't played much of anything multiplayer since I left college and reverted to my 56k connection, but JK2 looks like too much fun to pass up.

It's odd that I'm downloading the trailers for this while I'm avoiding the trailers for Episode II like the plague. I haven't anticipated a game this much for quite a while...if the syntax makes any sense on that.

You guys seem pretty willing to buy into the hype. I for one will wait until a bevy of reviews are out before I decide to buy this. I remember getting Black and White the first day it was released, after it had been hyped until it was accelerated nearly to the speed of light, and I thought it sucked with a remarkable amount of proficiency, as if it had been designed solely to impress with its sheer suckitude. Even the coolness of Total Annihilation doesn't get Chris Taylor a free ride. I guess the lesson I've learned from all the sucky games in the past is that until the game is out, so is the jury...

Anyone else find these games kind of...boring? I don't know; they seem like a mildly sped-up version of Tomb Raider, but Tomb Raider always left me pretty cold anyway. Like adding 1 to -10 or something.

Well, in most cases we're both right - very few publishers seem to put much thought into what they include in collector's editions, but then again, they don't have to, since many people will buy anything conspicuously labelled as being targetted to "collectors". The grapes of Ebay, I guess. Blizzard seems to at least put something in the package that is practical, or that I would consider buying as a standalone product outside of a game box. But yeah, the whole "signed manual" dealie is a bit disingenuous; anyone expecting to find a bunch of handwritten autographs is going to be disappointed.

With the "signed" manual being of reproduced signatures of course. But still, the soundtrack and DVD are worth ten bucks more, in my opinion. At least they're something substantive, instead of the felt map and tin case that so many other "collector's" editions see fit to label as worth the extra money.

If they're invoking Deus Ex, it better be good. I just hope there's at least two or three other games on the system worth buying by the time KOTOR comes out, or it'll be a stretch to pay 300 bucks just for the priveledge of playing it...

Genesis was the in-house Microprose sequel to the original XCom formula. Essentially a new isometric XCom game with 3D graphics. Looked nice, too, but it got cancelled...

But you know, at this point I might as well just ignore the hype until the game comes out...makes it easier to not be disappointed if the game sucks. I learned my lesson from Episode I, so I'm not watching any of the trailers or commercials for Episode II until I see the real movie in the theater. Might be worth a shot to apply this theorem to computer games, especially the ones that are hyped so much.

Garg, that's annoying. I know MS is attached to the idea of streaming video (god knows they've hyped it enough), but it's not viable for us poor 56k folks...give me a 100 meg video I can download overnight, but if it's streaming, why bother?
