I just spent three and a half hours questing...and I never left Vivec. Almost four hours in one city, and that's like a hundredth of the area of the game world, and that's not counting all the running around I've done in the city before, and I didn't even go to three of the cantons. This game could take me all summer to beat; I'm one of the "join every faction and get every quest" people, so I've joined groups as disparate as the Imperial Guard, the Imperial Cult, the Imperial Temple, the Mages, Fighters, and Thieves Guild, and even the Marog Tong. No one particularly likes me for that last one, I notice. But it's fun...the game is such a timesink, it's unbelievable. Too bad it won't sell half of what Dungeon Siege will, probably, but it deserves all the success it gets. I'm still boggled by the size of the game world; it's beyond anything I've ever seen rendered into 3D.

Anyone else playing this yet? Good? Bad? I recall the last Elder Scrolls game as being a bugfest upon release? This different?

What the hell's this game about in Germany? Are you fighting mad scientists or something? You obviously can't fight Nazis...

Just got the paperback version of this in the bookstore I work in today. Too bad Tom Clancy never liked Harrison Ford being in his movies - I thought the two Clancy movies he made were pretty good.

There are some things like that that strike me as odd. My particular beef regards the "/thedestroyer" code, which results in a dual-bladed lightsaber in multiplayer games. Why isn't this available in single-player games? I guess it would screw up the cutscenes, but still, it'd be awesome to take on Desann with a dual-bladed Saber...

Yep, it's me. Been surprisingly popular, as my inbox proves. I noticed that Raven even linked to the Gamespot mirror in their "Top Solutions FAQ":

http://www2.ravensoft.com/jedioutcast/faq.htm#walkthrough

And I just got an email from Rockstar, saying that they want to host my Rhino Tank FAQ for GTA3 on their tech support site, so things are looking up for me. Now I just have to get someone to pay me to do this.

I'll take advantage of this post to pimp my walkthrough/FAQ:

(First one.) Co-winner of gamefaqs.com "FAQ of the week" and soon to be translated into portuguese and Italian. (No kidding.)

Has nothing to do with editing tools, but there you go.

Trademarking a phrase that was originated by and made cool by a far more entertaining film is ... beyond words.

...but wait, there's more! Let's not forget this is the same company that released a screenshot where Duke's hand is replaced with a chainsaw. Or that they plan to disallow online game guides and walkthroughs from using screenshots. (For fear of losing money on official guide sales. There's a line between greed and protecting your assets; guess which side this little decision is on?)

You can check out that image here:

Thankfully they're releasing it before the game comes out so I can make an informed decision. I'm sure it'll be cool, but I'm always wary about buying games the day they come out, without a demo to work with.

No need to worry, Blue. Bush, Cheney, and their hand-picked team of totally objective scientists, with no ulterior motives, such as ensuring that our energy companies have free rein to do whatever they please, have decided that the fears of global warming are greatly overrated! So worry not. It's not like Bush would be biased or anything; most people who used to own oil companies are completely rational about the environment.

What was that old Bill Hicks line? "Go back to sleep, America - everything is under control." This kind of crap makes fatalism seem like a rational world view...

This thread reminds me of the part in Almost Famous where they're on the Airplane, and the singer starts talking about how the guitarist always lords his abilities over the rest of the band, and the other guy goes, "Finally! The truth comes out!"

Notice how few people are actually defending these guys...even the fanboys seem to have tired of the rhetoric.

I guess they're leaving out the mysterious woman who whispers odd French sayings in an ancient cathedral, in which the Gregorian chants of its former inhabitants is still said to echo.

Doesn't the word "franchise" in this context generally indicate a quantity greater than one? If that's so, I think they should probably concentrate on getting games out the door rather than proclaiming themselves to be gaming geniuses...

For some reason, the word association with 3DR that keeps popping into my head is "irrelevent". Does anyone really think of them as being the "bad boys" of gaming? Does anyone really think of them at all? I realize they have their own way of doing things, but I think I'll focus my attention on the developers that actually show some sort of response to their fans' desire for info.
