And, just for the record, "Dantooine is far too remote to make an effective demonstration, but we'll deal with your rrrrebel frrriends soon enough," or something like that. So it was just too far away to blow up; nothing wrong with the planet itself.

But then the Empire sent scouts out and they found traces of a Rebel base that looked like it had been abandoned. Dunno when Galaxies is supposed to take place, but since there's going to be an Imperial occupation force, I'm guessing it's sometime after the first film in the series. Didn't they hint that it's inbetween ANH and ESB? Something like that.

Anyone try that Xbox demo of Wolf on the latest OXM disc? I played the PC demo for the single player and loathed it, but I dunno if the Box version will be any better. I doubt it, but you never know.

http://www.starwars.com/eu/news/2003/04/news20030411.html

That page has screenshots and some info on Dantooine.

Also some news:

"The Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided development team surpassed another major milestone this month by launching the Beta 3 version of the game. Throughout this phase of the beta program, the team will continually increase the number of testers until a targeted number of 50,000 players is reached. A new release date for Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided will be announced within the coming weeks."

Sounds like it's at least a few months off yet.

This has been semi-known ever since EA decided to take a little ownership in Digital Illusions, but here's to having something to officially look forward to. The more the merrier.

Off-topic, but funny physics nonetheless. A great BF1942 tank jumping vid.

Sierra did at one point offer free downloads of Betrayal At Krondor. For all I know, they still do. It was only ten megs.

Can't argue with Yu Suzuki or BF1942. I don't think NWN was the best RPG of the year, though.

That's what you are, you know it, c'mon...vogue. Yeah.

Hell, 250 million dollars in revenues can't be wrong. Or, at least, it can't not be right to the accountants.

"Would you ever consider adopting, say, a more anime-style look to better appeal to console gamers?"

So, console gamer = big anime fan? Good idea; make Deus Ex into Shogo. Thankfully Spector shoots him down.

That does look pretty neat. I wasn't slamming the game or anything in this thread; Ray was right; I saw concept art and assumed it was early in development. (Though why they're posting concept art when their screenshots look so much better is beyond me.) I just thought it was funny that MMRW overreacted so much ("you make me sick"?), so I was indulging the Mr. Hyde flame war addict that lurks in us all. No offense to the game intended.

Of course, we'll see how it looks when it comes out. Skepticism has become second nature by now.

Gadzooks! I've been seen through! I'm obviously an anti-S.T.A.L.K.E.R. extremist, sent by the forces of darkness to dupe people into thinking that games aren't coming out until well after they actually do! Curses! Foiled Again! Etc.! Etc.!

No, enabling HW sound didn't do much for me. I'm running on a Hercules GTXP. It's hard to go into detail, but often times sounds don't play properly; explosions near my positions aren't heard, or are only heard in one ear on my headphones, half the rounds fired from a machine gun are muted, and so on.

The problem probably stems from the earlier problems with SB Live cards. From what the gfaqs people are guessing, the devs managed to b0rk non-soundblaster card support somehow; very few Live owners are complaining about sound issues.

Who knows. It's a great game, but tough to play when you can't hear shells landing near you.

Every other post on the gamefaqs.com board for this game is about screwed up sound. I know my sounds are all messed up; I'm running on a Hercules GTXP. I haven't gone online with this yet, but hopefully there'll be a patch-patch out sometime soon.
