I think there are just enough cards and differing mechanics to make Magic all but impossible for a modern AI to grasp. I remember when the first Magic PC game came out; the thing would be at 3 life, see that you had a monster with five attack out, and bust out an Earthquake for five, killing itself at the same time.

I personally could care less about the Magic universe - the day I read one of those licensed novels is the day I start listing my religion as "Jedi" on the census form - so I can't say I'm excited about licensed products like this. The game is fun, but it really is just an extension of a fairly generic fantasy universe.

Uh, PS2 has, by far, the strongest game library of any console on the market. By FAR. Big reason it's the market leader by a huge margin. It's a step behind graphically, but that's just because it came out earlier than the other two.

I think it's also supposed to be like 300 dollars, if I'm not mistaken. Which would essentially eliminate it from competition with the GBA, in my opinion.

Good for them. If anyone can compete with Nintendo in this arena, while keeping the price at a competitive level, it would seem to be Sony.

It's fairly linear. Ten levels that are pretty big; mostly the standard shooting monsters thing. Unfortunately it becomes apparent that Bungie was rushing it out the door for the XBox launch, because eventually the levels become full of the exact same kinds of rooms, and there's also a bit of backtracking which adds gameplay time without needing any new levels.

It's still pretty fun, especially when you get into a Warthog (most of the time). The last level, though, has to be one of the worst in any FPS that I can remember. Kind of exciting, but hilariously frustrating.

I think Superman's one of those roles that will never please everyone, or even most people, until you see whomever it is on the screen and you get to decide for yourself. A while back it was supposed to be Nicholas Cage, which would've been hilarious.

I can't think of a single actor who could really do it justice.

Yes, everything I've heard about the new Superman films sounds terrible. It's too bad, too; the DC comics have great potential, but they need an Avi Arad-esque manager to translate them to films properly.

Considering the run Marvel is on, DC might just want to pay whatever they have to get Avi Arad for themselves. But I doubt he'll leave Marvel.

Heck, that happened with me with the main quest of Morrowind. I got to the point where I was supposed to get the tribe leader a wife, but the right options never came up in his text screen. Kind of lame.

It's actually happened in New York a few times, I think. Mostly homeless people, as is likely.

Maybe just an urban legend, but who knows.

The Nar Shaddaa levels in general weren't very well done. The first one was definitely annoying - right after you got the lightsaber, you had to deal with a bunch of super-distant enemies? Good choice, Raven. And the starport level was bugged for a lot of people, and still is, even after the patches.

There was a duel-wielding Dark Jedi in Jedi Knight 1. That was well before Episode II.

I can't help but wonder: if you pee on a Lightsaber, do you get shocked and die? Is it a third rail situation? Inquiring minds want to know.

I don't know why it was disabled by default for SP....

One word: Lucasarts. I doubt dismemberment will be enabled in this game, either; if LA saw what the realistic combat code did in the first game, who knows if there'll even be a code for it in Jedi Academy.

And btw, there was dismemberment in the game if you didn't use a code for it; it was just hands and arms that came off, and that was very rarely. But it did happen. The realistic combat code just made it happen much more often.

They must've been doing something for the last, what, like five years? When did Half-Life 1 come out? It must be either four and a half or three and a half years now.... I only remember that it was a little before Thanksgiving because I started playing it one evening, stayed up through the night, drove home from college for break, and then set up my computer at my house and finished it without sleeping.

Frankly, I'd be happy with an above-average game that follows the Half-life mold fairly carefully. Though everyone said that "Scripted events are going to be in every game from now on!", you still don't see many games with the density of interesting pre-made events that HL had (emphasis on "interesting"). And the AI still stands up to that of games of today, in my opinion, especially those commandoes.

Whatever. I doubt it'll be out before Deus Ex 2, so that's what I'm concentrating on. But it's always been a no-brainer that it would be coming out, so here's hoping that they've spent the time making it good.
