News Comments > On Trine 3's Length and Future
9. Re: On Trine 3's Length and Future Aug 22, 2015, 18:10 DangerDog

I wonder what was the root cause of the cost going up "triple" of the last one? New rendering tech?

I've watched a clip of gameplay and while the 3D stuff sort of switches up the gameplay with depth I'm not sure it really called for it.

I read on the forums it's three tutorial levels and three game levels. Generally you would think going 3D would be a productivity improvement over drawing stuff in 2D.

Sounds a little like they look at the average length of time people spent playing Trine 1 and Trine 2 and decided to design the game around that scope.

Waiting on peripheral and component drivers, I'm in the - If it ain't broke category.

At least performance wise it's not a step down like Vista was.

I don't follow this game but I do know they removed Dinklage from the game. Re-recorded his lines.

The original tester put down the lack of FOV as a bug.

he was fired.

If only they could put some of the energy being used to make impressive visuals into revolutionizing AI for their engine.

Kind of like playing the Company of Heroes single player campaigns but have zero interest in multiplayer.

Well, I really hope that all of the animations we saw at Gamescom were placeholders because that stuff looked sooo amateurish like it was made by some elementary school kiddies during their lunch break.

I'm rather surprised by the number of people that were impressed by that multi-crew simulation, it was extremely jerky and just long walks punctuated by some motion captured animations of people sitting in seats.

Anyone who has ever played Arma in a group knows how frustrating it can be to just get a small amount of people to do things in an organized fashion, now you're going to need to enter and exit ships in a lengthy process - let's not even consider the issues involved with syncing up players in a moving platform and still be able to walk around in it.

After you've done the "man simulator" experience of getting into your ship a half dozen times you're going to get tired of it.

They missed their window of opportunity, everyone will be playing Call of Duty BO 3 or Star Wars.

Welcome to bargain bin city.

Absolutely false.

I don't know about being absolutely false, I don't think anyone knows for certain what MS is doing with the data they're accumulating on scanning peoples files on their computer, there is a lot of FUD around the Windows spying on people but there's also enough evidence to believe it's more than possible they're at the very least doing statistical reporting on piracy. The only software they effectively prevent you from running are pirated copies of their own software like Office if they're detected on the system.

8ch can have some pretty disgusting users, but I didn't see anything illegal. Not sure why they're being banned.

I clicked on a few of the text links and got an eye full of cartoon kiddie porn and pictures of naked underage boys.

Funny how by trying to not bring attention to this "forum" they made even more people aware of its existence.

Removing sites like this just makes it go further underground, at least maybe with these pedos thinking their safe out in the open someone might be investigating them. They need to do more dragnet "to catch a predator" type sting operations, they were catching all sorts of interesting people with that show. One guy was a cancer research specialist, couldn't believe that actually happened but there he was with his mike's hard lemonade.

Hardline doesn't have a future, focusing on 5v5 modes because nobody is playing isn't going to fix anything.

Hopefully they have an open "beta" test of this game to try before release, I'm sure if they do it'll be two weeks before release or something.

It looks and sounds amazing but it seems to be aimed at fourteen year old kids with ADD, everything is 10 minute round based. They haven't announced how dedicated servers work for this but I'm still guessing it'll be instanced servers thus no way to tweak anything gameplay wise with one click play to find games through matchmaking.

I would like to know what that xbox app is doing to degrade the performance in a game that doesn't use it, another chunk of microsoft spyware?

The bit about Firefox being slower in Windows 10 sounds suspicious to me as well, are they intentionally gimping performance to get people to use their "fast" edge browser?

There's a real place for a strong privacy lockdown app market for Widnows 10! Lots of money to be made selling it.

There's a free open source program that does this already.

As long as you can continue to do a manual override then it's not going to stop me from using the core OS features. I'm sure the overwhelming number of people that won't bother to do so will mean that this won't be stopped in the near future.

Star Wars Battlefront looks and sounds amazing, plays like a casual arcade/console game.

The lack of any single player campaign pushes this multiplayer only title into the overpriced category. It's Star Wars so they can overcharge and under-deliver and still make a ton of money.

So at what point do you think they're going to sell it off to Activision or Electronic Arts to wash their hands of this mess?

I'm sure they've looked at it and had plenty of meetings about making a space game to tap into the revenue stream. EA has Star Wars, Activision has Call of Duty (and Destiny?). I don't think they would touch this game with a twelve parsec pole.

Except with those prices you'll be grinding forever to be able to afford just one upgrade.

It's all irrelevant, there's absolutely no way for this game to live up to the hype around it.
