I'm not sure why people don't like Windows Phones?

Pretty hard to market anything with "Windows" in its name.

Microsoft needed to attack the market from the opposite side that Apple is situated, low price pay as you go phones should have been their target. Work from the bottom up. High end phones needed to be a hand held x86 computer where you could run desktop apps on the go.

What were people expecting here, Mass Effect?

Of course. This is the major problem here and the main source of the unwarranted, baseless hate that this title is receiving (ignorance level: RNC).

Seems that a chunk of gaming public simply can not stand even a thought of allowing for any other playing style than Ye Ole scripted-linear-guided experiences that we have been mostly fed for over a decade. Watching this whole process is actually quite fascinating, from a psychological point of view.

It`s quite paradoxical too: back in the early days we dreamed of complex worlds infused with complex gameplay, and thought that only hardware is the limit. Turned out that what people really want is more polygons, safe corridors and "stories", not actual gaming systems and true freedom. Pretty sad, if you ask me.

There is indeed a lot riding on the success/failure of this game. If it sinks, we won`t see any other project of this kind in a AAA wrapper for a long time, it will be all strictly underground. If it succeeds however, it will hopefully inspire other major studios to borrow from the things it make it so exciting and fresh.

So just hoping that Hello Games didn`t mess the basics up. If they managed to get the trade, fighting etc on at least "okay" level, then this game will be a modern classic, well above all your Witchers, GTAs and suchlike.

No, it's just frustrating to see a game come so close to reaching the dreams of what people want out of an open world sandbox space game and have it filled with everything but a "game".

If I could mesh a game like Starflight into something like this it would be gaming nirvana, and it's not like it should be some insurmountable task - Starflight fit on a 5.25 360k floppy disk.

Unfortunately nothing shown so far indicates that there's anything more to the game than the "experience" of flying from planet surface to space, landing on a space station and then looking at the planet below from a window on the space station. If there's more to the game than surviving GTA style warrant stars from endless swarms of nano-bots then I wish they would show it.

you guys are being assholes. rolling dice is fun. millions of people bought dayz and its clones so they could spawn naked and find random items and then die. this game will be fun as long as you're not an asshole with asshole expectations

Not me, I played the free mod and then really questioned peoples sanity when they started paying for it.

The whole goal here is to reach the center of the galaxy, I suspect someone will glitch there within a day of release to show everyone what a waste of time it is.

I'm just not impressed with the omnipresent nanobot police spawning as soon as you shoot a life form, even a hostile one.

The price is just too damn high to take a "roll of the dice".

News Comments > More Win10 Concerns from Tim Sweeney
99. Re: More Win10 Concerns from Tim Sweeney Jul 26, 2016, 17:55 DangerDog

Microsoft had a dream, one app on any device you owned be it a PC, Tablet or Phone.

We already see the Windows Phone going the way of Zune, their Tablet offering is more of an expensive laptop than say a Samsung Tablet or an Ipad. You don't see an affordable MS Tablet out in the wild other than some off brand slow as dirt Chinese garbage. Windows RT is dead. Many laptop manufactures are doing a 180 on providing touchscreen input so turning the OS into a Modern UI touch friendly space seems to be at odds with reality, other than trying to appease their Surface customers.

If they kill off the PC desktop interface then they might as well call it quits on making Windows altogether.

Will MS Store ever amount to anything but a source of short term amusement for people who have never owned a PC before?

They've already tried to release a closed ecosystem Windows device in the form of Windows RT, it died a relatively quick death.

It's going to take a complete computer revolution of starting from scratch and abandoning all previous forms of x86 architecture in order to successfully alter the way business is done on computer devices, the benefits of adopting this new platform would have to be overwhelmingly positive and mind blowing so as to make everyone jump on board.

Probably a good 20 years from that being a reality.

Not saying this should never happen but, too soon.

I haven't read anything about the next bluetooth revision improving the quality of audio but like the article says I hate having to charge accessories.

And what happens when you need to format? How you going to reinstall windows10?

Lol. This shit is so stupid.

Once your system is upgraded to 10 you can format it as many times as you want, no need to have previous version of windows installed and then upgrading that version.

You can't move the license to another computer unless you've upgraded a retail copy windows. OEM licenses can't be moved.

Having always been more of a PC purist I always clean installed new OS versions, however since the only way to upgrade your license to Windows 10 is through the upgrade process I'm really impressed that the transition from 8.1 to 10 was so seamless. Even on a fairly old HP notebook computer it was pretty painless, just had to download a Windows 10 driver for my USB modem.

geekuninstaller.com to remove ms app crap (1.28 gb of crapware)
Spybot Anti-Beacon
StartIsBack++

done.

even if you're not wanting to fully take the plunge right now, use Macrium Reflect Free to image backup your system, do the upgrade to license your system to 10 and then restore back to 7 or 8.1.

He was agitating all of these socialist "just me" warriors that have infested university campuses, I applaud him for raising awareness in that area as well as the insanity that is fourth wave feminism and BLM.

Pretty dumb to get banned for attacking "ghostbusters" though.

Who needs VR? :p

From what I read on this demo, it's basically the same thing without the goggles. hehe.

Except original trilogy content makes everything Star Wars better.

Considering they weren't going to release this I guess beggars can't be choosers. The funny thing is I think it condenses down the essence of Star Wars experience rather completely in such a short demo.

Too bad you can't move in the 3D space at all.

13. Re: Star Wars Battlefront Rogue One & Darth Vader VR Game Revealed Jul 17, 2016, 16:57 DangerDog

It's nice that they're adding offline, even though it's just for two modes. The problem is that it won't fix the bigger issue which is it's not Star Wars: Battlefield.

Nobody would have objected to a true Battlefield experience set in a Star Wars universe it would have also gone a long way towards the Battlefront people being upset about all the features crossed off the list from previous games.

But nope, they had to make a game that a ten year old kid could play and felt Battlefield was too advanced.

As for Death Star expansion, I'll wait and see what it is they release, they've been borderline false advertising for this game in the trailers they put out from the very beginning.

The retro console is basically just an official version of something people have been making unoficially for years, but still neat. Too bad it can't download new games, or connect to you Nintendo account so you can play other NES games you purchased.

Oh Nintendo, always one step forward with a neat idea and two steps back with awkward tech decisions.

Really! Why could they not have released the same thing, but with EVERY Nintendo game ever made? I'd buy that in 2 seconds.

Licensing issues most likely, I don't know if people are ready to put on their nostalgia glasses and deal with the outdated graphics. USB NES controller is around $3 on ebay, emulator + some game images and you've beat this gadget hands down.

More people are interested in the remastered game than their new Sci-Fi COD.

And you know this - how?

To be sure, that deal is a massive dick move, but the new COD looks fairly solid on its own. At E3 people loved the gameplay in that blind eye test (until it was revealed it`s COD:IW), which I thought was quite hilarious and telling.

Comments on the internet, people being pissed that they're tying the game with COD:IW, general anger about that represented pretty vividly with the down votes on the youtube trailer they released. There's little doubt people wouldn't bother with COD:IW if they sold the HD remake separately for $30. I think they've done the future war scene to death with COD.

What's old is cool what's new isn't. Look at Battlefield 1, going back to it's origins with WWI themed game and seems to be widely accepted as a positive move by DICE.
