Seems like for a major upgrade to the architecture you're going to be throwing away a lot of those lego bricks. For the really cutting edge stuff you're right back to the problem with heat dissipation.

Can't you just go the unrecommended way and remove the telemetry service from your system, there's even a way to stop Cortana from running by renaming the executable between stopping it from taskmanager, you have to be quick because it'll autostart again.

To quote Hillary Clinton "What difference does it make!!"

I don't know about Ghost Recon Future Soldier but if there were awards being handed out for fakeist E3 demo I thing Randy Pitchford would take top honors for Aliens Colonial Marines.

At least you can still change them yourself even if you have to dig deeper than the surface menus.

I'd like to see someone attempt any type of circumvention to google spying on you with an android phone or tablet etc.

Hilarious, and PC gamers will complain about the Windows 10 exclusivity and that it'll only be available through the MS Store.

Microsoft just can't win.

I'm thinking in terms of all those promised planets for Star Citizen which should by now be fleshed out into mini games like this, or even just a fraction of what this game has.

Small team of 5 to 10 people working on it since 2013, meanwhile a game like Star Citizen can't even muster 1/10 the amount of game play with hundreds of people and tens of millions of dollars.

Why would anyone be getting their panties in a wad over this game, you're not shooting poor helpless refugees Rolleyes this is the same scenario played out in call of duty games - well until they went all politically correct and you don't shoot at arab speaking soldiers anymore.

All of these sites that want to block ad blocking need to take a "no flash and no javascript" pledge for their ads. Just go back to plain image links.

6. Re: The Division Open Beta Next Week Feb 9, 2016, 18:19 DangerDog

The development team has resolved most of the PC cheating issues tracked during the closed beta, and all of them will be resolved by launch on March 8. The developers will continue to closely monitor the open beta for any new issues, and address them accordingly.

Didn't think they would do the open beta demo this close to release, might actually hurt them in terms of lowering the hype levels for the game.

This definitely wont change, if you're ultra paranoid about having your IP visible to other players then you'll want to stick to solo play and avoid the PvP altogether.

I doubt average gamer would become a target for ddos attacks or being "Swatted" but for youtube streamers it could make them an easy target. Some people just get off on ruining other peoples lives and taking their grievances from the virtual world into the real world.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_hPBQ4isms

That might be fixed but I bet it still works in the open beta, now that it's public knowledge if they haven't fixed it people will delete it from their hard drive after playing for just a few minutes.

between stuff like this and the people using other cheats in the darkzone the game could be a huge fail, hard to trust developers and their off handed promises anymore.

Anyone complaining about the graphics on the PC should watch this.

you'll probably still complain but maybe a little bit less.

The only area that could be improved visually for the division would be less repetition of objects and the textures on said objects, if you go around scrutinizing everything in the environment then of course you're going to see things like the books on the bookshelf all being the same one or that giant wall graffiti painting being a 1:1 copy used elsewhere as a poster in a room. Sometimes it makes me laugh like the blurry lorem ipsum on an office safety poster or a fax machine with a "Strat" button.

Visual fidelity isn't the issue with The Division, the issue is going to be whether or not the world they've created turns out to be an empty vessel lacking in content to do justice to the background setting.

DDI wrote on Feb 7, 2016, 17:19:
These guys are paranoid idiots. Even the Enterprise version installs a bunch of modern apps that want to go get the weather, news, etc.

Of course with telemetry disabled, there still would be traffic to MS. You can remove all the modern apps if you want and there's plenty of articles on how to do it

Is the paranoia unjustified though? In the EULA there is something regarding MS having the authority to remove programs from your computer, they did just that with one of their updates where a bunch of utilities that people had installed were gone after the update.

If their tracking telemetry reports a sizable portion of the users running some sort of blocking program like spybot anti-beacon then they could auto-remove it from systems without any notice, just as an example.

Aside from games there's just a couple of programs - mostly stuff like Adobe Creative Suite that keeps people tied to Windows. If Adobe ported their software to Linux that would be huge.
