Should just rename it to No Man's Game since they just won't release the dumb thing already.

It's going to be a buggy hot mess at release with most likely plenty of connection to server issues to go around.

I watched some of the leaked gameplay, didn't show more that what they've already have shown with their own play through videos and that's to say, it still looked rather boring. It's a tech demo trying really hard to be a game. The sound seemed rather annoying, especially their ambient background sound effects.

Doesn't everyone need skype?
If you're into self flagellation you can still get W10 for "free" with "free" no longer meaning what it used to mean.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/accessibility/windows10upgrade

They're suppose to be closing that loophole soon, you'll need to prove you're blowing through a tube to type on the screen or something.

As for Windows 10, resistance is futile!!

I'm sure they're working overtime to stop people from using start menu replacements and uninstalling their apps, Skype is now integrated into Windows, or so someone said in the comments section of that article. Weeeeee!

There was a battle in WWI where professional British soldiers went up against Germans and the Germans thought they were using machine guns but in actuality they were using bolt action rifles. I forget how fast they were in getting shots down range but it was an impressive number.

Even if they load this down with cosmetic micro-transactions it's still going to be worth getting. I wonder if you can still buy EA games on the cheap using a proxy to Mexico.

You cant deny there isn't a problem when you can go to just about every porn streaming site on the internet and you don't even have a "confirm your age" screen.

Personally I would implement an age check right out of Leisure Suit Larry, before you could play the game you had to answer questions to prove you were old enough.

But that is using the Starcraft 2 engine and thus Blizzard retains full control.

Did you just seriously link to a bootleg Windows reddit as proof that Win10 Enterprise can be had for $50? When the poster themselves admits that: a) they are not a licensed dealer, and b) their keys don't always work?

By your logic, Win 10 Enterprise is free, so long as you pirate it!

Windows Enterprise is a lot more than $50 (legally). If you aren't trustworthy about that...

Never knew about that MS virtual desktop utility, they even have keyboard shortcuts to direct switch desktops - (1,2,3,4) something they didn't implement in Windows 10, that I know of anyway.

I haven't been keeping tabs on the whole "metro app" side of things but now you can sideload on windows 10 from any source, and it's enabled by default. That's not something I thought I would ever see them do.

Jesus some of you have an axe to grind here. If setting zany QOS rules to prevent something that takes 3 clicks to disable, if it's not working for your computer/network, is "making the right decision", I'll gladly keep making the "wrong" ones over here.

I don't like Windows 10 or Microsoft's BS as much as the next person, but a good deal of what I've been hearing from people about Windows 10 crosses the line between actual issues and clueless griping.

I would be a lot more likely to be kind to, or interested in, Windows 10, if it offered a single new feature of use or significance. I've perused many a site, looking for just ONE THING that could make it worth it. Just ONE.

DX12/new hardware support doesn't count - it's typical forced obsolescence by Microsoft.

What else is there? Xbox app? Cortana? "Edge browser" (aka Microsoft's delusion that someone will use their browsers)? Bringing back a shitty version of Start Menu?

Nothing. There's nothing. Only spyware and condescending attitude toward the user.

I transitioned from Windows 8.1 so some of it isn't Windows 10 specific but I like that they added the ability to pause file transfers, mostly use it when copying files across the network to play traffic cop. Some don't like the feature but having "quick access" shortcuts on the file explorer is handy, they added Virtual Desktops - kind of surprising when you consider all the doom and gloom about killing off the desktop these days. I do like that they got rid of the charms bar popping up when you move your mouse over to the right edge of the screen. They improved the snap to edge for multiple monitor setups, if you use extended displays you can now snap to the edge that spans between monitors easier.

Few minor tweaks and it feels just like XP/7/8.1 It's an OS though so other than file management and running programs I'm not sure what features would make the experience any different than previous Windows.

And the backpeddling has begun.

Microsoft went full retard with W8 and has been on the retreat since.

Enterprise Windows 10 is only available in bulk licensing negotiable with Microsoft. Please post the source for $50 enterprise windows, because google could not do it.

Niemöller is perhaps best remembered for the quotation:

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

As long as there's ways to tame Windows 10 I'll keep plugging along with it. I don't intend to use the MS Store and will continue to ignore it, same for Cortana and OneDrive. Windows 8.1 was fine, just needed to install a proper Start Menu and it's the same with Windows 10. It's pretty hard to beat Microsofts development tools and the free version keeps getting better and better. If you do any work for small or large businesses it's mostly a Windows world, I don't see that changing.

I think we have to come to the realization that the model of selling an OS every couple of years is over, unlike Apple who can afford to give away their OS for free due to the insane price gouging on their hardware - of which you can't legally purchase a mac clone. With the Google chromebook as far as I know don't charge for their OS - again data mining to the nth degree.

Apple makes insane amount of money from their App store, really surprised they haven't rolled out a version of it for their desktop computers but then again it's surprising that they even bother making desktop computers anymore.

Of course MS is going to make it difficult for you to avoid their MS Store since that's where they're making their money, also by directing traffic to their Bing search engine through things like Cortana.

It's unfortunate that we have to wage war on stuff like this but people clinging to their copy of Windows 7 better hope there are some serious in-roads made to improving the usability of Linux over the next couple of years, it's still way too hacker orientated to be able to replace Windows and needs support from the likes of Adobe and Autodesk.

Even if MS goes full retard and completely locks down the desktop on home and pro versions it probably will just mean you'll need to acquire and enterprise version, right now it's around $50.

I'm not sure why people don't like Windows Phones?

Pretty hard to market anything with "Windows" in its name.

Microsoft needed to attack the market from the opposite side that Apple is situated, low price pay as you go phones should have been their target. Work from the bottom up. High end phones needed to be a hand held x86 computer where you could run desktop apps on the go.

What were people expecting here, Mass Effect?

Of course. This is the major problem here and the main source of the unwarranted, baseless hate that this title is receiving (ignorance level: RNC).

Seems that a chunk of gaming public simply can not stand even a thought of allowing for any other playing style than Ye Ole scripted-linear-guided experiences that we have been mostly fed for over a decade. Watching this whole process is actually quite fascinating, from a psychological point of view.

It`s quite paradoxical too: back in the early days we dreamed of complex worlds infused with complex gameplay, and thought that only hardware is the limit. Turned out that what people really want is more polygons, safe corridors and "stories", not actual gaming systems and true freedom. Pretty sad, if you ask me.

There is indeed a lot riding on the success/failure of this game. If it sinks, we won`t see any other project of this kind in a AAA wrapper for a long time, it will be all strictly underground. If it succeeds however, it will hopefully inspire other major studios to borrow from the things it make it so exciting and fresh.

So just hoping that Hello Games didn`t mess the basics up. If they managed to get the trade, fighting etc on at least "okay" level, then this game will be a modern classic, well above all your Witchers, GTAs and suchlike.

No, it's just frustrating to see a game come so close to reaching the dreams of what people want out of an open world sandbox space game and have it filled with everything but a "game".

If I could mesh a game like Starflight into something like this it would be gaming nirvana, and it's not like it should be some insurmountable task - Starflight fit on a 5.25 360k floppy disk.

Unfortunately nothing shown so far indicates that there's anything more to the game than the "experience" of flying from planet surface to space, landing on a space station and then looking at the planet below from a window on the space station. If there's more to the game than surviving GTA style warrant stars from endless swarms of nano-bots then I wish they would show it.

Not me, I played the free mod and then really questioned peoples sanity when they started paying for it.

The whole goal here is to reach the center of the galaxy, I suspect someone will glitch there within a day of release to show everyone what a waste of time it is.

I'm just not impressed with the omnipresent nanobot police spawning as soon as you shoot a life form, even a hostile one.

The price is just too damn high to take a "roll of the dice".

News Comments > More Win10 Concerns from Tim Sweeney
99. Re: More Win10 Concerns from Tim Sweeney Jul 26, 2016, 17:55 DangerDog

Microsoft had a dream, one app on any device you owned be it a PC, Tablet or Phone.

We already see the Windows Phone going the way of Zune, their Tablet offering is more of an expensive laptop than say a Samsung Tablet or an Ipad. You don't see an affordable MS Tablet out in the wild other than some off brand slow as dirt Chinese garbage. Windows RT is dead. Many laptop manufactures are doing a 180 on providing touchscreen input so turning the OS into a Modern UI touch friendly space seems to be at odds with reality, other than trying to appease their Surface customers.

If they kill off the PC desktop interface then they might as well call it quits on making Windows altogether.

Will MS Store ever amount to anything but a source of short term amusement for people who have never owned a PC before?

They've already tried to release a closed ecosystem Windows device in the form of Windows RT, it died a relatively quick death.

It's going to take a complete computer revolution of starting from scratch and abandoning all previous forms of x86 architecture in order to successfully alter the way business is done on computer devices, the benefits of adopting this new platform would have to be overwhelmingly positive and mind blowing so as to make everyone jump on board.

Probably a good 20 years from that being a reality.
