Are these MOBA games really that popular? I'd be more inclined to pay them $60 for a proper sequel to the original Unreal, hell I'd give them $30 for just an HD remake of the original.

They just wanted the Dark Zone to be as dark as it could be.

only soloed against the AI in missions, about 2/3 played and haven't been back into it.

the game is all atmosphere and that wears thin pretty fast.

Having played the beta I was actually surprised the kung-fu combat came off as well as it did, I was expecting a ton of "press X key" quicktime events. I still think it was a mistake to remove the guns from the game, feels a little too much like forced political correctness. They could of had some Biathlon type missions where you need to parkour and then shoot and parkour some more.

Of course they had to nerf the AI somewhat, if you're engaged with an enemy the others wait their turn.

The lifeless feeling plays into it's "beautiful solitude" design ascetic. I would have put more off area crowds behind inaccessible glass walls looking up and pointing or generally running and screaming when enemy AI start shooting. I think they could have done something while not directly interfering with the players ability to do speed runs.

One thing seems apparent, there won't be any more games in this series. EA said it was up to the players and it seems that it's receiving a rather temped response.

Totally got the racing vibe from the beta, I'm more of an explorer though. Too bad when you go places you're not really meant to go the illusion breaks down worse than a day at Disneyland when you peek behind the facade.

I can really get into the style and design of the ultra clean city but maybe they should have switched it up where you start off in a city of Glass but end up in some outer slum like area where the effects of the oppressive conglomerate are realized.

It's also a little too void of life and activity, massive city but it seems so empty.

Goliath's like Disney are slow moving but will destroy the lives of everyone involved in the project.

People never seem to learn, if you want to do something like this you go completely under the radar and just release it anonymously to a torrent. If they can't trace it back to the source it they can't shut it down.

Disney shut these guys down for using "light swords"

Sim Tower suffered from performance issues once you created something resembling a skyscraper. The concept is cool but I would rather have something more realistic and at least 3/4 3D perspective instead of 2D.

Complaining to Valve about lack of VR headset support is barking up the wrong tree, complain to Cyan if you want to get your headset supported.

This looks like another lifeless walking simulator. Interactive NPC AI is really hard work apparently.

Oh man, not the TV tie in crap again. I mean it could be done as some sort of mocap cartoon using in game assets but these things get blown way out of budget scope.

Now it all makes sense why DICE went WW1 for Battlefield though, 2142 sequel would have been at odds for Tittyfall 2.

I'd rather have had BF2142 sequel myself.

These are all from the days of the Amiga, they did an HD remake of Wings and Defender of the Crown.

They forgot to upgrade the gameplay though.

Considering how unaccommodating gamers are to open sandbox games like Elite Dangerous I can't see this being a success without a hand holding scripted campaign.

Yeah, that part isn't for me. I would have been more interested in exploring the city if it were more detailed. I guess it's down to priorities but you don't even need to glitch out of the confines of the playable area to see the lack of detail. I'm not expecting the full version to be any different than the beta, they're down to the wire and are just fixing bugs.

I can spend hours just walking around in a game world like GTA V and check out the architecture and textures, but in Catalyst the attention to detail drops off a cliff when you explore instead of being a reward onto itself.

Played the beta for a few hours and although it's touting the new Frostbite engine it didn't seem much improved from the first one, on the surface it looks and plays well enough but the open world aspect falls flat if you go off script and want to do any urban exploration.

The open world missions were repetitive and boring, I'm not into doing perfect runs to get a fast time on a leader board. It felt like a lot of the pseudo open world racing games that EA makes, the fact that they're virtually devoid of life makes the experience less than ideal and that's the vibe I got from the beta, pretty on the surface but don't look too closely otherwise it falls apart and the corners cut start to show.

I imagine if you just stick to the scripted story it'll be worth a playthough but I'll wait for a discount price before taking the plunge.
