pre-ordered bf1 from them, got my key early so I could pre-load.

even the slightest inconvenience and people lose their shit these days, makes you wonder what would happen if an EMP blast (natural or man made) took out our electronic infrastructure.

One day, gabe newell is going to pass away and the guy who takes over for him will sell Steam to Microsoft.

They'll migrate everyone to their xbox platform on the Microsoft Store, most older games will be rendered incompatible with Windows in the process.

no idea why EVGA is by far the #1 reseller of nvidia cards. Their thermals are shite, the acoustics are terrible, the OC performance is mediocre, and the design is butt-ugly. But for some reason people line up "literally" for them. I have an MSI Gaming X, which looks nice, has better OC, and is fucking SILENT. You literally can't tell it's on at full gaming load. The Asus Strix is another example of just a feature-packed 1080, the Gigabyte windforce extreme another amazing buy. But for some reason noobs love their EVGA 1990's looking gargabe.

And yes, I know about their "step-up" program, it's the only thing they have going for them, but doesn't really apply to 95% of prospective buyers, because who is going to buy a card that's 1.5 years old, when the launch of a new one is a month away?

EVGA will let you remove the cooler for an aftermarket one, water block, without voiding the warranty. I don't know about MSI or Gigabyte but Asus voids the warranty.

Brand loyalty is strong with EVGA because they have a reputation of having better warranty support than many other brands.

Looks like the only affordable "limited" version is region locked to the EU.

EA is just ignoring Obama's order to lift the sanctions, kind of like how everyone else is ignoring him right now.

He can't even get an 8v8 mode to come up, stayed in queue for 8 min before giving up.

Now watch Pilot vs Pilot mode end up being the most popular game mode.

Campaign is 4 or 5 hours, I read that they just sat people down at their computers and were told to make something cool so it's mostly just stitched together maps with some backstory nobody really cares about.

AI is just there for something to shoot at.

I still think the concept of the game is hamstrung by it's execution, using the source engine isn't doing them any favors when what you need is larger more open sandbox type maps. More old school Mechwarrior/Battletech and less Call of Duty with call down robot perks.

You have these large stompy robots and can't even take down a tree or even leave a scorch mark on a building. Everything is just as pristine at the start of a match as it is at the end.

Let's go to space.. except the CoD engine can't do vehicles for shit.

They really need to license a new engine to match their lofty ambitions, maybe someday they can even have destruction like a Battlefield game.

Gaming has turned to Gouging. I am out.

comparatively speaking if you add up the retail prices of BF1942 and it's expansions or BF2 and it's expansions the price hasn't really changed much.

Nope, I have a full CH HOTAS setup, tried it. Didn't help one bit.

Huh, go figure. But if it works, I guess it works. I've never played Battlefield's air game competitively, but I have been flight simming on and off for 15 years now, and it's just hard for me to conceive of a keyboard ever flying an airplane better than a joystick.

With BF4 it was less a simulation of flight and more a flight experience, with BF1 it's better but still extremely arcade in every way.

some of the more competent flyers in Battlefield just use the keyboard only, you fly in third person for situational awareness arrow keys for direction W and S for throttle A and D for yaw, assign spacebar for pitch up. Fire with right control key.

In BF4 there was the UCAV unlock tied to playing Air Superiority mode and you had to get jet kills, I tried all sorts of configurations but finally did best with just keyboard only. That was brutal, you had people just hanging out who had mastered the max speed for optimum turns and could wipe out a whole server of n00bs in seconds.

The extent to which people will go to avoid buying a $30 joystick. Hey, whatever works I guess.

Even back in the Descent days, the competitive scene all migrated towards KB+M over joystick, it just offers more accuracy, and faster accuracy.

Descent had completely different flight dynamics than that of an airplane though.

Granted, the Battlefield flight model isn't remotely realistic but it at least mimics the way airplanes fly, which means you need to hold various continuous, analog inputs for different maneuvers. Carefully swiping the mouse a set number of times just seems like holding yourself back compared to pulling back partially on the stick for however long you need it.

So those that have this on Blues, please confirm if they actually worked on joystick compatibility. It was deactivated in beta. They claimed to be "working on it" before release on Twitter.

I don't have one to try but last thing I read was they were still working on it. I haven't seen a patch yet either for anything and I've been playing since Monday. I'm guessing the answer is no.

I'll check later then on updates. No buy from me though if I can't use my joystick

no joystick support at launch

They apologized for not shipping with it. It's being worked on now!

Although I'm not sure if it's really going to help you become an ace pilot if that's what you're wanting joystick support for.

until the price comes down to sub $300 it'll very much remain niche.

they'll also need to come up with a way to make moving in VR space not so lame, the portal mechanic is pretty weak. Putting yourself in a "slippery floor" hamster cage isn't much of an improvement, not to mention way too expensive.
