Looks like a game from ten years ago. They're really impressed with that one destructible building animation they have in the game, it sticks out though when it always looks exactly the same every time.

I mean shouldn't this be the target for actual gameplay in 2018?

Tribes deserves so much more than these "me too" clones. I don't think the children of the phoenix will ever rise again.

Respawn will probably be tasked to make a Star Wars game with some of Titanfall's game mechanics on the Frostbite engine and fail miserably at it because they're fluent with the Source engine. I can't imagine a Titanfall 3 game being made. Titanfall 1 sold well because it was an exclusive launch title for the Xbox, the second one didn't sell that well and only picked up some sales when they deep discounted it a few weeks after release because the single player had a few shining moments.

I think EA will pull the plug on support and extra content for SWBF2 by this March. They'll coast through December and when it doesn't reach their lofty sales goals along with the inability to implement their casino MT system fully in the game it'll get dumped.

Everything Is Terrible!

I don't recall Star Wars Force Awakens getting much praise but it sure did make a shit ton of money.

I'm just not going to believe that the cancelled one, was the good one. Just assume it was like the rest or worse.

From what I've read it sounded like there was a huge brain drain at Visceral after EA forced them to make the Battlefield Hardline cops vs robbers game, they didn't want to make it and it destroyed moral.

They ended up pouring too much time into making trailers and tech demos and couldn't get animation systems to work the way they wanted. It didn't sound like there was much sharing of code between Battlefront and the game Viscreal was working on.

DICE raised the bar for graphics extremely high with their photographic modeling in their latest games. If you aren't capable of adapting to the way assets need to be generated you might really struggle to keep your job.

I think Visceral bit off more than they could chew.

where video game violence panic failed, this is going to bring in the government meddling and regulation.

I wouldn't hold my breath for that, but it would be nice to have the government do something.

Yes, more government is the answer!

You're much better off trying to get people to vote with their wallet, but good luck with that. For every person who thinks they're championing the cause by not purchasing a mictoransaction laden game there are at least five more that are willing to take the plunge.

You'd think $3BN being wiped off their shares would teach them SOMETHING, but apparently not..

Do people think EA's stock going down is because their shareholders are trying to punish the company for implementing microtransactions?

They sold off their shares because EA removed the MT system, not because they're white knighting for gamers.

People are really delusional thinking DICE will transition to a MT system based around skins. That wouldn't even pay back the development cost in implementing it this late in the game.

Yes someone found a skin based system in the game code but looking at its implementation you can't tell me people would spend more than a dollar to change the look of their stormtrooper to be the 501st - which only a hardcore star wars fan would even know what that was.

I'm sure a pink vader would sell just to troll everyone in the game, for about a dollar.

I think it's funny how prestigious studios like CD Projekt Red snipe EA with that cunty tweet saying: "We'll leave greed to others" while The Witcher 3 released with 2 $30 DLC content packs.

The whole thing is such a mess.

EA fucked up the implementation, but I still think the overall strategy is a direction that the industry needs to go, ESPECIALLY for multiplayer games. I can't be dealing with segmenting the community 2 months after launch based on who bought the season pass or not.

For all the shitstorm furore that the piss poor progression implementation wrought, people have lost track of the one actually redeeming feature of this model. NO SEASON PASS.

Kind of difficult to see the value in trading the season pass for a MT system (not splitting the community aside). They could release as little content as the extra last jedi map and the completion of the single player campaign and call it good.

EA Doesn't Think Players Want Darth Vader In Pink, 'Not Giving Up' On Battlefront 2 Microtransactions

To that end, the company is still committed to implementing microtransactions in some way, but is figuring out the right way to do that. "We're learning and listening to the community in terms of how best to roll that out in the future, and there's more to come as we learn more," Jorgensen said.

yes, listening and completely ignoring them.

Pretty sure that was entirely disabled to be reworked.

lol fake news

it's like Activision is sitting back and trying to come up with ways to out do EA for their shitty MT system.

they were caught throttling peoples XP and then after the change they were caught halving the XP you got before the change. I think it's just for cosmetic crap so the joke is really on the people grinding hour after hour for their virtual reward.

EA hasn't really made any promise for free DLC beyond some of the scraps they held back like the Last Jedi movie tie in map and the laughably free single player DLC, does anyone really think this wasn't finished before the game shipped?

They can't go cosmetic on MT's it would require the entire game to be rebuilt from the ground up, charging $5 for a skin won't earn them anywhere near the haul they were going to make before they shut it down.

It'll be booster packs with crystals, you'll be able to use crystals to buy specific star cards, the cost of the cards will be tiered based on their power level. You'll probably get an XP boost as well as scrap to upgrade your cards.

I think they'll tie credits earned in game to actually playing the game, so many people are now going AFK and just getting credits for being in the game.

That's about it, and if it doesn't make extra money they'll sunset this game by Feb.
