I think all MMORPG software should be free (or at most S&H). They are raking in $13 something a month whether or not you’re playing. I hesitate to try many of these games because I don’t want to give up $50-60 to try them. They might hook more people if they gave away the software. Call it Drug Pusher marketing.

However, in AC2’s case this is a sign that they’re desperate. I know the player base is shrinking. (I wish I could get my money back.)

The Dead Kennedys' logo was a nice touch. Anyone know who the guy with glasses is in the left background? He's not the same guy in the Pulitzer Prize version.

I built a new system in July. 95% of the parts came from Newegg, including a Gainward Ti4200. I remember everything came on July 4th weekend. When I pulled the card out of the bubble wrap to my horror a capacitor fell out on the floor! I immediately got an RMA from Newegg in about two weeks turn around. I haven’t had any problems with the replacement card and I’ve had it overclocked most of the time. Maybe the problem is with the connection and not necessarily the capacitor itself?

The scientists will also be looking at how gamma radiation affects the human body.

Just ask Dr. David Banner, he knows what it can do.

I believe Blue is referring to the thin, tight fitting material from which dance outfits are made. Yes, it is one of the marvels of the twentieth century.

Did anyone think their “Colorgenics” profile was accurate? It sounded like a bunch of horoscope psychobabble that could fit anyone. I kept looking for a punch line. I even tried picking random colors expecting to get the same results. However, I didn’t feel like trying all 40320 combinations to find out%)

I find it funny that all the “anti-homosexual” companies listed at http://www.turnleft.com/out/boycott.html were accused of the same offense, pulling commercials from Ellen. Maybe its not homophobia they’re guilty of but of having good taste.

BTW businesses are not social or political activist organizations (though some try to be). Their purpose is to make as much money as possible. They do that by trying to appeal to as many people as possible. Being associated with a controversial topic goes against that. Having said that, Wendy’s failure to advertise on Blue’s News doesn’t offend me at all. Wendy’s would probably sell burgers to Taliban if they weren’t hiding in caves. Heck, that’s one less dollar they’d have to spend on something else!

PS I never realized what a great guy Mr. Thomas was. Although, I will have to overlook that whole giving-away-his-hard-earned-cash-to-charity thing:)

…Balok relishes his tranya.

Hats off to Blue for the obscure reference to a classic Star Trek episode.
(I’m referring to the original series as being classic, not necessarily the episode.)

This is just my two cents worth, but I'm convinced that Total Annihilation is the most sophisticated RTS to date. It still boggles my mind (I know that's not saying much) that TA didn't catch on with the masses. I think the problem was the initial learning curve. Just because you can jump right in and start playing a game doesn't necessarily mean its a better game. It might mean that it lacks depth in functionality. Once I learned how to play TA all other RTSs were frustrating due to the amount of micromanagement they require. Every C&C game was the same game play with better graphics. There was zero evolution from Dune II. The same goes for Warcraft/Starcraft. Its sad to think that the majority of RTS players are too lazy or too dumb to make the quantum leap to a higher level of game play. It would be no less absurd if email never caught on because hand written letters were easier to do.

Hey, is loonyboi taking his 'pile-o-stuff' with him or did I just miss the announcement of the winner?

But seriously, I'll miss loony and his secret messages hidden in the source code. (Oops I just let the cat out of the bag with that one. X|) Anyway, good luck with your new gig Jason.

BTW Has everyone who has offered donations bought a shirt? If not, I hate to say this but it rhymes with hippo$hits. If you did, I salute you for putting your money where your typing finger(s) is/are.

I just reread that last statement and realized how bad it sounds. But I'll leave it because it will either make you laugh or make you mad. The point I'm trying to make is merchandizing. I'd buy more BN stuff. If there was a tasteful line of BN merchandise those who wanted to could contribute monetarily without everyone having to pay a subscription. I realize it takes capital to do and it will not pay all the bills/salaries but every little bit helps.

IMHO - Darth Lorax

THE Sequel to Pool of Radiance? Aug 12, 2001, 22:44

I'm not sure how they're getting away with calling this the sequel to Pool of Radiance. Follow along with me. First there was PoD, then there was Curse of the Azure Bonds. It didn't pick up the story line of PoD but you could import characters from PoD. I think it did mention some of the events in the first game. Anyway, next there was Secret of the Sliver Blades, again you could import characters from the previous game. Finally there was Pools of Darkness. again with the character import. If any thing could be called a sequel this was it. It actually did pick up where PoD left off. So does this new Pool of Radiance start after Pools of Darkness or does it negate it?

If it really wants to be a sequel it should let us import Pools of Darkness characters%) Ha!

(I edited this for spelling. Doh! I forgot to use spell check.)

OK Eating a frog is not that gross. I could do it if I had to. But what I don't understand is why does it have to be alive? I'm no PETA nut (card carrying member of the NRA yes) but I'd think that it might get scared and 'lose control of its bodily functions.' Besides, wouldn't you get just as much nutrition if you cooked it first? What kind of "survivalist" is this guy if he can't start a fire?

What ever happened to survival of the fittest? I think Australia would be a better place without people stupid enough to pet great whites.

BTW Heart-to-ass is pure genius.
