"Trump himself remarked last week that many of his closest advisers seem to leave in dramatic and venomous fashion, victims of what he called 'Trump derangement syndrome.' "

so in other words, Donald, all these people who - according to you - developed "Trump Derrangement Syndrome" only did after getting to know you? they only developed this terrible anti-Trump affliction once they started working for you and your goals? for a living? and their entire political futures? yet they hated it so much they left anyway??

THAT is an interesting bit of shade to throw at yourself, Mr. President. very honest, but okay.

LIMBO. for FREE.

actual, factual modern art being given away for the measly price of a [admittedly horrible] Epic Games Store account. and the price of supporting the Epic Store at all with an order, I guess. (your order which counts for their company's bottom line ... they can brag you ordered from them without spending a dime; that's why you get the e-mail receipt for 0.00. gross.)

Tiny Tina's Wonderland is much like all of Borderlands for me -- obnoxious, obnoxious, unfunny, loud and super-slight on gameplay or innovation or anything like that. I think people still like those Borderlands games, though, so awesome. I hope they have a blast.

besides, I bet some rabid fans of Borderlands would call me right out for being so stoked on an old, boring walking simulator that isn't even in color and is super pretentious. and boring. whatever's your thing. enjoy them both.

I ABSOLUTELY wanted to see BioWare fail. and they did, and it was awesome to see. extremely satisfying.

let me explain: I've never personally been quite so perfectly affronted by a game as I was with this game's redundant, cringely base and obnoxious gameplay. I was and sort of still am extremely disturbed by 'Veilguard' and what it represents being the first title in a decade from a classic franchise known for its depth, wit and imagination.

if you go into a room with an *extremely simple, lazy* puzzle, one of your constantly babbling quip-happy moron friends will screech out both that there's a puzzle AND how it should be solved. in moments. Ubisoft may hold the record still as the LEAST audience-trusting game developer, but this game sent them to work.

same thing as 'Sewerside Squad' - linear, dumb, repetitive and DEEPLY obnoxious jokes from your lamentably lame companions throughout. or when you, your party and the world itself is in danger, everyone's always crackin' jokes so the mood never gets SCARY or anything. in the first new Dragon Age game in ten years.

BioWare took a look at how games have changed in the last decade and concluded they're dumber, simpler, never thoughtful or tense or challenging, someone's always either joking or explaining what to do and how, social grandstating e v e r y w h e r e only nothing vital or new or biting to SAY about it ... fully one of the least enjoyable game experiences I've ever had. fully. and if THAT'S what BioWare's wanting to do to the artform, hell YES I want to see that fail. publicly, embarrassingly and constantly.

I hate it because I care about not just what *I* get to consume in our culture's art and media but what the next generation gets to see and look forward to. kids these days have to play THIS?? ----ing BARF, man. I hate it because I care what happens. I hate it not to try and destroy something just to destroy it, but to destroy something that is absolutely actively harming the most vibrant and most promising form of popular art there is. Dragon Age Veilguard is just about the perfect poisonous antidote to the sprawling, wonderful, freeform and brand new experiences offered by Baldur's Gate 3. nothing gained, only taken away and made dumber than possibly ever. "No, dumber. DUMBER. WHY ISN'T ANYONE MAKING A JOKE? IT'S BEEN 30 SECONDS. Also, I've been looking for this so-called puzzle for six whole seconds. What gives? Is this DRAGON AGE or DRAG-ON AGE? Give goal now!"

3 MILLION players are playing our game (so we say, anyway - you'll never know for sure). why aren't you? what, are you some sort of a loser or something? don't you fear the idea of missing out on what EVERYONE ELSE is doing (so says us, anyway)?

NEW PLAYERS. exactly. it's what I've been saying all along.

the millions and millions of passionate existing customers isn't enough. you need NEW ones. because ???

that way you can dump the millions who adore and support the old games to this very day and instead reach the BILLIONS of non-players who've never heard of Doom and don't care at all about it. and this makes sense, again, because of the ??? nature of ???.

it's genius thinking, really. if something super successful ain't broke, break it. that way, P R O F I T $

(Doom: The Dark Ages, for the record, is okay. it's got some neat moments. guilty pleasure, maybe. but DOOM and DOOM Eternal are masterpieces. this is not that, and not close. this was done on purpose so that ???)

this is just embarrassing. there's ACTING OUT and then there's DECAPITATING YOUR ARTISTIC LEGACY FOREVER. I guess we were beyond that already but damn, man.

Kanye West around 2007 - 2010? a legitimate musical genius to me. big, big artist for me in those days. 808s & Heartbreak + Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy are just unbelievably great records. rap or otherwise.

but nah, who cares, let's have that legacy decimated instead.

forget it, Kanye. It's clown-town.

another legend bites the dust. (on purpose!)

so he says they're being review bombed - flat-out, objective fact, but doesn't point to the proof. we just have to take his word that the game got reviewed unfairly by people intent on seeing its review score suffer.

seems to me the reviews getting traction point to the same things: relative lack of polish (especially compared to the Ori games, ESPECIALLY the second one - glorious title it is), underwhelming compared to 'Ori', apparently foolish difficulty spikes and recent patching making that problem worse.

these days with games changing patch to patch, Steam Reviews aren't social statements or even whether they like the game all-in, they're becoming customers responding to what a game's current state is. (see: meltdown over Tekken 8 Season 2, the latest patch for Path of Exile 2, etc.)

it's a real bummer the studio's in such alleged financial straits, because I feel "Ori and the Will of the Wisps" really is a tremendous game with seriously rare qualities. as tedious and unfulfilling as I find the Metroidvania genre, they managed to make it so much more playable than usual with pretty astounding visual design and tight movement, combat, kind of everything. even some nice story stuff.

so no, it doesn't look like Ori 3 is going to happen. really makes one wonder why THAT wasn't the project instead of this 'Rest for the Wicked' thing that few seem to *seriously* enjoy. bummer indeed.

fine, but I'm pissed because 1. no PC date, STILL, even after the "shock" of a delay, and 2. they played coy with the idea of a delay repeatedly in the last few months, kept saying it was on track for Fall 2025, then delayed it anyway. total douchery.

it really is a really impressive tech showcase. they are bang on with that one.

...but as a paid game? they blew their cultural wad on a release with three courses??

whyyyyyyyy

got to "WOW" them from the start. from "Go"! you know how many Early Access games make some noise on release and then basically fizzle out into nothing? no matter how many updates?? RELEASE is RELEASE. a game gets that just one time. and if we're paying for it, we've got to be blown away from the jump. this is THQ Nordic. this isn't some guy in a room someplace.

maybe it bucks that pattern, though? hopefully it does. what I saw I liked, but I'm just not paying for three short courses.

people still play Starcraft 2, tho. why bother making a new game? in fact this year Starcraft had a MONUMENTAL, news-breaking revolution: it was released on GamePass.

so following that earth-shaker of a public announcement I'm pretty sure the Starcraft brand is rock-solid in consumer minds for the next ten years or so. let's see in a decade if there's any reason at all for Blizztivision to make a new Starcraft game. or any new game, for that matter.

I absolutely agree that the "Goon" slant stuff is pretty weak.

if you're trying to come off as NOT an editorial, you've got to keep subjective terms out of things. especially headlines.

the Left, the Right, both sides absolutely suck ass at being impartial in their news reportage. with The Left you get stuff like this and with The Right you get that "Liberal Woke Teen Gets DESTROYED By FACTS" or whatever. they're both pretty embarrassing. though we're living in embarrassing times. ten years or so since Donald officially put his foot into our political culture. how's it gotten? better? worse? same? you decide.

Donald stepped in, said absolutely everything he wanted to say, and the Liberal News like a bunch of morons obsessed with being sure he was heard by absolutely everyone. because it made clickable news. so super job, CNN. good work, MSNBC. if you're ever wondering how it got here, surely you can thank your own handling of all of it.

just for those who, like me, despise that "A Game Whose Title You Will Be Interested in Knowing Did THIS" trashy news clickbait titling, it's Dark Souls.

and also I not only agree, I think a great *many* video games can help in all sorts of very real and very useful ways. anything where you've got to suddenly crunch complex systems or learn to deal better under stress? Age of Empires 3 is masterful with that. Tetris Effect. definitely Dark Souls / Sekiro / Etc.

Re: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remaster Sells IV Million Apr 26, 2025, 17:26

"over 4 million of you that have already ventured into Cyrodil" = NOT IV million sales, of course. it's on GamePass, which must eat a healthy portion of sales.

notice how more and more companies use this sort of language. rather than "4 million copies of this game have sold!" it's "4 million people have STEPPED INTO" or "We've had 4 million players!"

it's slippery tactics, and not a little lame because of its FOMO design.

"4 million people played it! Why haven't you, you dong? DO IT NOW."
