When i was a little bitty boy,
my grandmother bought me a cute little toy.
Silver bells tied on a string,
She said it was my ding-a-ling-a-ling.

Just off the top of my head. I'll try and see if i can find the songwriter.

Have you looked into these affiliate programs? Place a couple of small links on your page, then if your readers use the links to get there before making a purchase, you get a percentage of the sales.

How is this for an alternative analysis?

Sierra may not want to cancel it, but they sure as hell don't want to spend the amount of cash that relic thinks they need, AND give relic the terms it wants. The two are WAAAAY far apart on their negotiations. So someone at relic starts a rumour that it is cancelled to get fans to demonstrate that there is significant consumer demand for the project. Taking into account the current mood gamers have toward sierra they were sure to get not only die hard fans fighting for it, less motivated fans, and even people just looking for a reason to bitch about sierra.

The final solution, either the two agree on distribution of costs and royalties, or they don't. It is not a matter of sierra just cancelling it, and relic being the poor victim of circumstance.

The amazon and buy.com (reel.com no longer offers affiliate programs because the stopped actually selling products) associates plans sound like good ideas to me.

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/subst/associates/join/associates.html/ref=as_gw_sf/103-1651773-3791850

15% on books, and 5% on everything else

http://www.us.buy.com/corp/affiliate_b2c.asp?loc=13895

5% on all sales.

Even if you don't do specific links to products (like have the pop culture reference a link to the dvd, or when a game is coming out based on a sci-fi book a link to the book) I'm sure that all of the people willing to give you money flat out would be happy enough to buy something knowing you get a piece of the profits. I don't think i'd be willing to flat out give you donations, but i would be more than happy to come here to click to buy.com rather than use my bookmark. Hell the browser is here most of the day anyway.

The scoring system is screwed. I only get a 20 point bonus for each win while the computer gets 40 or more? What the hell kind of BS is that?

btw, my high is 218 so far.

From shaknews

A collaborative effort was also announced between id software and the new software company of Brandon James, Nerve Software. That as-of-yet-unnamed game was
described as "multiplayer, cooperative-focused." The Nerve game is also going to use the Doom 3-engine.

also, from id's press release

The project being developed by Nerve is based on an original design by id Software. The game is still in the early stages of development with more details to be announced later this year. Nerve Software was co-founded by ex-id Software employee Brandon James.

Ok, they first said Wolfenstein would not have a multiplayer mode, now they announce they will be including it, it won't cause the game to be delayed and you won't have to pay for it.

Bastards!!! How dare they screw us like that!!

Cooking aside, I think killing the frog without killing it is stupid, and putting it in ass first (i mean come on, anytime i picked up a frog as a kid it would seem to lose control of it's bladder) is just plain disgusting. You think that soldier is a fan of scat and golden showers?

btw, it is possible to fit 14 frogs in a pringles can, just don't let your mean older brother get ahold of the can.

Just for further clarification, the work he did was up the pole in the back yard. I didn't want you to think it was something right at the house.

Find a tool to check your packet loss. My connection went to crap for gaming several months ago, while surfing was flawless. It got worse and worse for a month until the connection started coming and going once or twice a day. When the guy came out and tested my line he found 99% packet loss at a junction outside the house. Fixed that in 15 minutes and all my troubles were gone. Also, with a proxy server or router, the effect of packet loss with games seems to be amplified.

I love my connection. I'm planning on installing linux on my box so i can play with some bioinformatics tools. I downloaded each of the RedHat ISO's at between 10-11 Megs a minute

I don't really see what the big deal about them charging for multiple IP's, buy yourself a cheap router and you don't have to worry about it. You gain a little protection in the process, and unless you had a switch before rather than just a hub, probably better network performance.

As for the digital cable, not bad, but my roomy has very nice digital satellite service

Multiplayer was never intended to be supported out of the box. They have said all along, it's all about the single player experience.

If they are bringing in separate developers for multiplayer, i would hope it is for something more involved than Wolf arena. About the only thing i could forsee needing those kind of resources (considering the q3 engine has some decent net code already that shouldn't be that hard to incorporate) would be coop. And i think i would pay 20 bucks on top of the game for solid online coop.

A tie in with Egghead, EB, beyond.com, Amazon or some other store that sells games. Next to the "post a comment" link on every story, add a link to order or preorder whatever game the story is focused upon.

You could even do this with the pop culture references, make the quote a link to the DVD at a store.

One thing that would be helpful in finding sponsors would be reader demographics. Set up a survey form for users. As long as you don't tie the information to the user, and make it optional, i don't think readers would have a problem. I think it would be interesting to see some results even if you don't use it to get advertisers.

Alright boys and girls (or more realistically boys and boys) a little SAT refresher.

Rectangle is to Quadrilateral as _________ is to Christian.

A) Hindu
B) Catholic
C) Triange
D) Pentacostal
E) B and D

and the answer is....

B!!!

Only a half a point off if you were thinking E was also an acceptable answer. That would only be true if i said rhombus. Pentacostals are snake handling, speaking in tounges, 12 packed naked in a buick driving thru louisiana because satan was in their clothes, freaks that can make the catholic church appear founded in logic and reason.
