As frans already mentioned I'm back, and doing fine.

I was down on Wall Street when the buildings went down, so I was caught in the giant dust fallout. It was an absolute madhouse. Suffice to say, I'm glad to be home, and happy to report that all of my friends and family have been accounted for.

What from id software was used for Max Payne?

Possibly the EULA. They may have licensed the license agreement.

I saw it last night...I enjoyed it quite a bit. It was nice to see a horror movie where people aren't jumping at each other with blunt objects every ten minutes.

It wasn't perfect, but I'd say it was as good as the Sixth Sense, although possibly a little better. I wasn't crazy about the overall tone of that movie. This felt like a more substantial production.

And both The Shining and Lost Highway are wonderful movies. If you didn't like those, you probably won't like this.

Also, isn't there already a magazine like this called "Total Movie"?

I think Short Cinema Journal is a better analogy. It was great for the first two years, but that started to suck after Warner Bros. bought them out...it's a total waste now.

Off topic a little here but out of interest, why does Blue and Looni put www.bluesnews.com in their user profiles for this forum? I mean, is it really nessasary? Has anyone ever used the link to get back to the front page?

Well, I can't say that's why I did it, but these profiles work on Chatbear too, so obviously there's an advantage there.

I believe Abuse was released for Linux first, although whether or not that's a "major PC game" is up for debate, I suppose.

The heat's been bad here in Brooklyn right now, but the humidity has just been brutal. My girlfriend's been in Atlanta for the last few days, and it's actually been nicer down there than it has here!

The worst though is just the air itself. There's been a serious ozone advisory in effect for the NYC area for the last few days...and if you go walking around outside, I can really feel it in my lungs. I imagine that's what it must be like in LA all year round.

That's how you charge forward when attacking. If you stand for too long, you are dead. In a real combat situation, you will get up, run, and dive for cover, then get up, run, and dive for cover again, etc. Even if there isn't anything to hide behind, staying low will help a lot and you will live longer

Well sure, but you're not supposed to do that if there's no enemies in sight.

I know hardcore co-op fans hate to hear it, but co-op is VERY difficult to implement into any story-driven FPS. It was a snap with Doom, since it was just wave after wave of enemies, but to tell a story with more than one person present is just a huge commitment, and statistically most gamers don't play co-op, which is why more games don't have it.

There are exceptions - System Shock 2 being a recent example, but don't hold your breath for most games. Developers just don't see it being all that popular. Whether this is due to overall statistics or just a lack of recent games that have it, it probably up for debate.

If you don't like anonymous posts, just turn them off. No biggie there.

...and Operation Flashpoint is out in Europe and Asia, but not in the US.

And it's actually a lot of fun. And I'm not too big on tactical shooters.

Oh sure, but there aren't many companies at all who've made their game for a big console and a hand held at the same time, they usually farm out the GB port, but only after the first console version is a success.

No argument there. But you'll note it says it's "being planned for Xbox and GBA" not that it's "being developed for Xbox and GBA."

There is a difference...I doubt the GBA one will be done in-house, if there's any truth to this.

Well, for what it's worth, there are a handful of strategy games out for the GBA, and they work remarkably well.

And I don't think anyone would ever seriously consider attmpting to cram an Xbox game onto the GBA without some serious retooling.

It involves a bunch of dumb kids that fight evil alien clowns from outerspace. I think the kids delivered icecream from a truck and it turned out that the big top was a spaceship.

Now this may have been a straight to video release and never made it to the big screen. Either way this movie was the most horrid thing I have ever seen.

That would be "Killer Clowns from Outer Space."

Hence my gag in the story.

And yes, my knowledge of B-grade movies scares me too, sometimes.
