I have actually experienced this, living in a backwater country.

When corporate is incapable/incompetent to measure performance via beter means (results), they invade the privacy of their employees by spying on them.

This was fine, before Covid-19, because there was usually provisions in the contract. However, I find the same thing happening even though I'm on a VPN in to work, to connect to the workplace, while using my own Internet, WIFI, Network and computer hardware while WFH.

How do I know? It's simple, counter-espionage. Just do things you're not expected to do and wait for the reaction, it will be subtle. Haha.

Testing the track ball concept now. My opti mouse is on its back and I am stroking the optical sensor. Seems in reverse, weird.

I am a huge fan of the S.T.A.LK.E.R series. This is disappointing, but the circumstances are understandable. I highly anticipate the release when it happens.

This website is about games, so in a feeble attempt to get back on topic. I am introspectively considering my many years of choices in the games I've played over the last 30+ years. Just questioning why I enjoy them so much. World of Tanks, Supreme Commander, Escape from Tarkov, Call of Duty, Battlefield etc etc to name a few. They all have re-spawn and scum saving possible, which separate them a great deal from any real-world conflict. Perhaps if I was 70 years old I would not have enjoyed them so much in understanding what the implications are. Maybe they were a substitute for war in a younger generation? Perhaps I should just be grateful that now I understand my true human nature better as a result of games.

Regardless of all the bad things that have happened in the historical past and that are still currently happening. It just proves that democracy everywhere is unstoppable. Autocracy needs force to impose the will of a minority and it will always be opposed by anyone that has tasted freedom. It can be changed without any need for violence. If an ideology does not work and the majority wants to leave, then the will of that majority must be respected.

Here in South Africa our government is fence sitting denouncing the happenings in Ukrain. They do so because Russia gave them support during Apartheid and us being dependent on that country for many things. I am furious about what that megalomaniac has started. I recently watched a docu about Ukrain's uprising in 2013 when they overthrew the puppet regime Putin installed there... When Putin said "Can you hear me now?" I wonder if he was speaking to the west or to Ukrain. They're an incredibly tough and resilient nation, although they are facing overwhelming odds. I wish they are able to repel the invaders with support from the rest of the world and teach that mad man a lesson.

Release my game too early, complaints it's half-baked. Take 3 decades to ensure it is *perfect* and complaints it's taking too long. Damned if I do, damned if I don't. </sarcasm>

If I was an indie developer, I would be discouraged by the price gouging on steam and the free give-aways on EGS, because then what incentive would there be to be innovative,make any effort or seek out a target market Perhaps stores these days are counter-intuitive to the spirit of those who make games.

Yeah that's 8 months old news (thanks Reuters, thanks EGS), they may be closer to the 1B now!
*shrug* This spoilt brat is now 250 games richer having bought 1 (Metro Exodus) which I haven't played yet, hope the plan works out for them.
If the plan is to upstage Steam, then go for it by all means. I am just here for the games, not the plan, unless there is something I am not seeing right now. Don't trick me EGS...

Maybe the game just became too dated? Who knows, maybe in the next iteration the player gets to play a control room operator who manages a drone/robotic army. The current artwork might not support that type of scenario and it is simply easier to make a new America's Army v2: Robot wars or something.

Edit: Seriously though, there is a real need for digital ownership though. I would prefer to own my in-game avater that looks unqiue and is mine, just like its ugly real-life counter-part.

Crypto. Human nature and our society is based on deceipt and fraud and ponzi schemes.

So why is Crypto different? The point is that the man on the street does not really care. They have bills to pay, kids to put through college and they see a risky opportunity to make that happen quicker and in most cases simply greed. Even the traditional shares and other asset classes have experienced that.

Some investors are aware based on well researched thought pieces like the above, some just aren't. Those who are aware might opt in regardless, or opt out based on moral values and the impact on the environment. Avoid completely, get in and out before the bad things happen, or see it as a sure long term thing. It is nice to get a well presented, informed perspective on the whole crypto space, but I think even if people understood how flawed it is like all the other "systems" out there, they just won't care, because money. (Just an opinion)

I guess I am just questioning why games that have taken huge teams and many man hours to make are being given away for free. On EGS.. What's the motive here? Is it to get a foothold in a market dominated by Steam or is there another motive? Games are like toothpaste, once played you usually move on. I am just suspicious of the whole business model. LOL. It doesn't make sense, until one-day it does.

To postulate, terms and conditions can be changed at the whims of a company. We don't own the games we get for free, we are only tenants. Should the terms change, the tenants can only abide by any new laws imposed or move on. Hooked on the library? That could become a thing. Only time will tell.
